Yes to more Steve, Harry and (of course) Anthony. And Seema.
Let's pray for a reinvigorated (as it were) Miranda.

Fabulous house rental, I reckon, complete with nannies if the kids are there (although I think they are quite old now!).

I want to know if SJP will be seen swanning around Kensington High Street in an impossible outfit, sky high heels and carrying many shopping bags.

Did anyone catch the V&A exhibition of her bags from SATC (and other fabulous bags) when it was on for the briefest of times in 2020? The exhibition was thwarted by Covid, but the lucky few may have got to see those beautiful Fendis. I'll be wearing my ancient but beautiful beaded Fendi when I go to see the play.

I'd have loved to have seen that V&A exhibition! Maybe alongside a companion exhibition of the bags made by the woman having a breakdown (in the one where Smith is a catering waited and has sex with Samantha in the cupboard - "I'm way too frazzled to deal with this...!"); that would be memorable.

I went to the Savoy Theatre last night. It was excellent. MB and SJP were outstanding. She designed her shoes for the play. There was a male supporting cast member who played two female roles (to be fair, he did a good job). And I did go to the stage door afterwards. SJP was utterly, utterly lovely. I was able to have a proper conversation with her. One never knows about meeting people you like and admire, but she was gracious and everything good that you imagine her to be. MB was pleasant but quiet; he seemed happier to be in her background.

I didn't mention Che.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 20/01/2024 17:19

@REP22 I am so relieved and happy to hear how lovely she was ❤️

REP22 · 20/01/2024 17:22

@DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy Thank you. Yes - I know they say 'never meet your heroes', but I am so glad I met her! 🙂x

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 20/01/2024 17:23

@REP22 that's awesome 🤩

tribpot · 20/01/2024 17:56

That's brilliant @REP22 and absolute kudos to SJP. I wonder how many people do mention Che, or Kim.

Hehe, thank you. Probably loads. Especially the Kim thing. I was thinking about that on the train home. I just can't imagine SJP being so deliberately nasty. I'm sure there was some massive misunderstanding or perceived slight that got out of hand. Or maybe a salary/jealousy thing. It's such a shame.

That is just SO LOVELY to read 😁 she's one of my favourite celebrities ever. I love Kim too, no idea what happened between them and I don't really care, but it must have been v unpleasant for both of them. Some people just don't get on with each other 🤷🏻

GellerYeller · 20/01/2024 19:19

@REP22 how fabulous for you, so lovely to hear! I loved her in LA Story years ago.

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2024 14:40

Tbf she didnt used to have such a glowing reputation in the industry so Im glad to hear that shes worked on herself. Alot of what KC said over the years seemed to be quite true. Im running and hiding now but I do love her I just dont think shes been a saint.

WhatapityWapiti · 21/01/2024 15:15

I would generally give someone the benefit of the doubt and I do genuinely believe that SJP probably is a nice person. But her stage door persona is not going to be her true personality, I’m not sure you can read all that much into what she is really like from how she was at a fan meet and greet. She is an actress after all!

Illegallyblonder · 22/01/2024 13:35

YAY TO NO CHE! That is fantastic news!

I'd like to see some old boyfriends in AJLT too, I love the actor who played Berger because he was magnificent in the film Office Space, which I love.

And I agree about the politician played by Slattery, he's attractive but the way he dumped Carrie really wasn't, he said something like "my people are worried about your reputation as a sex columnist" when clearly it was because she wouldn't wee on him, urgh. Quite understandably.

tribpot · 22/01/2024 14:44

So very interesting discussion on the Every Outfit podcast. They had heard rumours last summer that Sara Ramirez had been let go, nothing to do with Palestine. In the same Inst post, Ramirez takes aim at GLAAD and accuses them of colluding with weapons manufacturers (??) - it turns out this isn't completely without merit, as they did previously take money from a weapons manufacturer. But also Ramirez had asked GLAAD to sanitize all the Che stand-up material on the show, with dire results.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 22/01/2024 17:40

@tribpot god I love the EO podcast. I hope they come to the UK on their tour.

EachandEveryone · 30/01/2024 16:02

Shame the play has had dreadful reviews here. I’m going on Thursday and it’s taken the edge off me now.

Lottapianos · 30/01/2024 17:36

Yes @EachandEveryone , I saw a stinker of a review in the Guardian the other day. I'm just seeing it as my once in a lifetime chance to see SJP perform in the flesh - so long as she's there, I'll be fine 😁

I was curious so I looked and the only poor review I saw was in the Guardian, the rest were either very positive or of the 'yes you know you're only here for SJP but you'll have a very good evening at the theatre anyway'.

Netaporter · 30/01/2024 22:38

Please don’t be put off @Lottapianos and @EachandEveryone it is a fab play, SJP and MB are both marvellous and the atmosphere is both buzzy and champagne-fuelled. Reviews from the Guardian are always sniffy. It must be exhausting working there pretending you don’t enjoy popular culture only ever heaping praise on unwatchable ‘high brow’ shite 😂

dayswithaY · 30/01/2024 22:53

I went last week, and yes I loved it. SJP and Matthew are just electric, they are amazing together. The dialogue is so fast paced and they don’t miss a beat and that takes real skill. I loved the set and the costumes. You’ll laugh and feel sad, they are both so talented and the time just flies by.

The audience were fully engaged, there was such a warm atmosphere in the room - almost joyous.

SJP was so gracious during the curtain call, waving at everyone - she seemed to really enjoy herself.

But having said that, if they were unknown actors performing in a little local theatre - I can’t imagine they’d be playing to a full house.

Lottapianos · 31/01/2024 08:27

Thanks @Netaporter and @dayswithaY , that's so lovely to read ☺️ I've booked matinee tickets, which I'm now slightly regretting because I believe they both do a stage door appearance after the evening show, but I guess that's unlikely after the matinee

Yestodessertplease · 31/01/2024 08:48

I went to a matinee and I agree with @dayswithaY I loved it but a lot of that was due to SJP and MB and there was a great atmosphere in the theatre (and v well behaved audience which is not always the case these days).

I saw a matinee. If anyone is going and is in the stalls be warned there were really long queues in the interval for the bar - it closed before we got there so best to pre-order.

dayswithaY · 31/01/2024 09:52

@Lottapianos that’s correct, they don’t appear at the stage door after a matinee as staff were telling people crowding round after the matinee I went to. But seriously, you probably wouldn’t get close anyway as I can imagine the whole theatre would be there, hoping to see them.

Lottapianos · 31/01/2024 10:51

It's fair enough, they've only got a couple of hours to get organized for the evening show. I don't know actors do 8 shows a week on stage, I feel exhausted just thinking of it!

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 31/01/2024 19:31

I’m off to a matinee in a couple of weeks and glad it’s entertaining. Pre-ordered drinks definitely happening!

EachandEveryone · 02/02/2024 00:01

I’ve just got back and I loved it! They have great chemistry. Those critics were awful really it shouldn’t be allowed there was nothing wrong with it. There were hundreds of people waiting afterwards and I don’t know what happened one minute they were all waiting the next they jus dispersed.
