OMG I just realised they massively missed a trick not linking Anthony’s “ass virginity” worries with Charlotte’s iconic “up the butt girl” speech. When they even got as far as mentioning that he wanted to ask her advice!

Everyone obsessing over the relative worthiness of the guests at the Last Supper- don’t forget she won the dinner in a raffle. Yes, it was a nice idea to use it a farewell to the old apartment and have a lot of people there who had memories in that space, but she only did it at all because she won a freebie. And why not include some newer acquaintances who might not have the ready cash for regular Michelin-starred meals (Jackie, Smoke, Che, Lisette, Anthony’s boyfriend)?

I have two cocktail-related questions though:

1. why was it significant that SJP ordered a cocktail in Greek at the very end?
2. Why as SJP downing her cosmo a tribute to Stanford? It looked weird. Raising a cosmo to him, yes, but what was the significance of the downing?

(I suspect they were real drinks and real emotions though)

An observation about KC’s cameo- if you watch back old SATC there is always a LOT of dialogue/plot advancement done on phones. In that sense it was true to form.

Just a heads up for anyone looking to book “the plaza suite’ with SJP and Matthew Broderick- advance ticket purchases opened today. But you must be an ATG member to buy (basically £60 for the year) Lots of tickets available - general onsale starts tomorrow. To give an idea of price, row D stalls are £125, the best tickets (middle stalls) are around £300, but there are plenty of £25 tickets and other pricing in between. I managed to buy front row dress circle ( I hate anyone in front of me at the theatre) which comes with 1/2 bottle of champagne, ice cream and a programme per person and they were £140 each. They are my Xmas present to myself 😉

@Netaporter I was on the list - thanks to you from your previous email giving us a heads up! Bought tickets for friends flying in for the occasion (massive SATC fans) and for my family and me. I got dress circle too, but a few rows back, I didn't want to spend an absolute fortune, and I think it is quite a intimate theatre anyway with decent views (from memory, I hope I am right!). Not going until next year, but something to brighten up a dark winter evening. I think I have aged about 10 years with the priority link taking ages to load, the 8 minute booking slot and the site being a right pain to login to. But the tickets are in my inbox, so YIPEE!! So thanks again and have a great time! X

@Ridemeginger snap! So frustrated to be 1895 in the queue when I was ready at 10 on the dot! Anyway, go the tickets I wanted, and yes you are quite correct, it is an excellent theatre from a viewing point of view so you’ll have a great time.

I really enjoyed S2, especially once Miranda had sorted herself out.

I can’t see Nya returning for S3, which is disappointing. There’s no point having her in a handful of scenes though, with little to do. If Karen Pittman has a scheduling clash, realistically they’ll need to let her character go.

Hopefully Che will be written out. A real damp squib of a character. I liked the scenes at the vet, especially the turtle thing, but not the whole agenda pushing nonsense. Fingers crossed for no further part for Che, and a respectful and sensible exit explanation (I’m a fan of Sara, a fine actor and singer).

I think that fewer characters but meatier and properly developed storylines is the way ahead.

The three original women looking amazing. Even Charlotte’s slightly puffy face can’t detract from her prettiness and poise.

John Corbett and SJP seemed to enjoy working together again. I think that there was chemistry. His exit was a bit ridiculous though - five years??! I mean, by all means take the summer to bond with Wyatt and get him some counselling…but five years?!? I suppose it makes for an easy exit strategy if John is unwilling or unwanted for S3 though.

The scene with Anthony and Carrie discussing Stanny was powerful I thought. I felt that it was Sarah and Mario drinking to their pal Willie Garson, both of them out of character for a few seconds. I’m sure that the monk storyline would have appealed to Willie’s sense of humour, they wouldn’t have conceived of it otherwise.

Carrie’s “drama” line after her call from Samantha - ouch!! God knows what happened with those two but there will be no more Kim after that. That ship…sailed.

Not giving Lisa a termination storyline was an opportunity missed, although I don’t think that the writers care as much about women’s rights as they do about trans rights.

I liked Charlotte’s colleagues! They were fun. The drinking scene reminded me of old SATC. The three young women will have been babies then. Maybe one of them could be the offspring of that spiky baby shower lady who misplaced Carrie’s shoes 😃

Would like to see Natasha again but not sure how she could feature unless they use the Big-as-bio-father-of-elder-son idea.

More Enid please. And Bitsy. Anyone from the original in fact! Smith. Nina Katz. Trey. Bunny, if the actress is strong enough.

I would love to see Charlotte and Trey bump into each other again - maybe at the art gallery?

No more Che or Jackie please. I expect we’ll now get Miranda’s new English GF so maybe Nya will go, no big deal as she was underused in this series.

Can’t imagine how they will unravel the knots they’ve tied themselves in with Aidan’s five year plan.

Yes, too soon after Big I think.

It’s possible that the apartment sale will not have gone through when S3 returns. A damp ceiling was mentioned at the supper and I don’t think that was irrelevant. They could use this fault as a way of scuppering the sale so that the apartment (an important “character” in SATC) still features in S3.

Now up to date with this thread! Enjoyed the last episode though I need more explanation on the 5 year thing. Carrie mentioned on the beach 'with some time off for good behaviour', does that mean she will cheat and will Aidan kick off about that?

When he said ten years went like that (finger snap), does that mean he wasn't pining for her like he claims?

Enjoyed the Steve Miranda scene but did have to rewind a few times to work out what he was saying!

Poor Anthony's bum though. Didn't Stanford once say (possibly in the "up the butt girl" episode) that he doesn't do up the butt, and the girls all laughed? Wonder how he & Anthony negotiated their bedroom roles in that case.

Lisette so bland. Thought she was loaded to be able to rent the big apartment under Carrie's, so why the big discount?

I thought some time off for good behavior meant there may be the odd weekend etc here and there where his son is doing ok/away at camp or whatever where Aiden and Carrie could get together.

Re the apartment, I think we just don't get the cost of these places. Someone upthread guessed at a figure for Carrie's new apartment that I can't quite remember but was well under $10m. The Every Outfit podcasters, who obviously know the market much better, reckoned around $30m - so I think even Carrie's little old apartment would be well into seven figures now. I'm pretty sure people used to question how a writer could even afford the rent on it when the show first aired.

I think it's not unheard of for gay men not to have penetrative sex. I have a friend who rarely does and says it's very much about individual preference. I guess we tend to view sex through the male hetero lens, but there's a lot of other options out there. So maybe Stanford and Anthony just didn't go there.

Wasn’t Carrie’s apartment rent controlled? And she got a nasty dose of reality when viewing others in the same price bracket that weren’t? In the whole ‘Aiden buying it and needing Charlotte to tip up with a loan/ring’ to buy it back? Because she wasn’t ‘a desirable candidate for a loan’. So no, she couldn’t afford it. She’d spent £40K on shoes instead!

Yes it’s a naked from the top Che snogging Miranda’s boobs in a hot tub type thing . It’s a montage bit of each character with their partner getting their jollies. It’s just so cringe.

@Ridemeginger I went to the opening night of Plaza Suite last night. It was awesome. I never really understood why SJP and Matthew Broderick were together but after seeing them act together it was next-level couple goals 🥰 I hope you enjoy it!

Glad Che got the boot! Not too bad a character as Carrie’s friend in season 2, but it was too little too late. They got Che wrong in season 1 and that was that, there was no way they could turn the hate around.

Oh that's good news. They seemed to be sorting Miranda out towards the end of the series too!

The arrogance of the writers and MPK regarding Che was something astonishing. The fact that collectively the ENTIRE world said Che was awful but it was our fault not there’s….
