The scheduling will become a nightmare- and Tim will probably start to wish people were just complaining to him about Russians and ranking points again.

ShakeYourFeathers · 05/07/2023 14:29

Ooooo movement on the plastic sheeting

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2023 14:30

Yes if Tim thought last year was bad … Grin

RaRa - I think you can still queue to get Wimbledon tickets on the day but will probably have to get there pretty early. There’s a section about it on the official website called ‘The Queue’

ChessieFL · 05/07/2023 14:32

I read that the person at the front of The Queue for day 1 got there at about 7am on Saturday morning!

lastforever · 05/07/2023 14:34

It doesn't seem to be as well organised as previous years. Surely with the forecast and how much they need to catch up they should just put the roof on and start play as early as possible?

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2023 14:34
Shock

It says that if you get there by 9am you should get in to the general grounds but probably not the show courts

Not sure if all these rain delays will increase the queue?

Raahh · 05/07/2023 14:35

Yes, Tim. You spent all that money on the roof personally

USE IT

ShakeYourFeathers · 05/07/2023 14:35

This has just come up on my phone. Did anyone see it?

Raahh · 05/07/2023 14:37

Oh, Shake-that's not good.
How did they get in?

The leaf blowers were worth buying, though. Grin

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2023 14:38

I haven’t seen that Shake but good to see that the leaf blowers are being put to good use again!

Is that a jigsaw? Maybe confetti and jigsaws should be on the list of prohibited items!

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2023 14:39

Snap Raahh another good investment by Tim Grin

Now just use the roof that you spent millions on!

ShakeYourFeathers · 05/07/2023 14:40

That's what I was thinking- I don't know how they got it but pretty easy to smuggle in confetti and a jigsaw I reckon

Those leaf blowers were certainly a good buy.

Play is about to restart on the Medvedev match for those who are watching / want to watch

Raahh · 05/07/2023 14:42

they will now waste ages warming up- by which time the rain will be back.

Come on Daniil!

I can imagine Tim in a meeting -

'we need leaf blowers'

'Tim, there are no tree on the courts'

'Wait and see...'

If only he was as good forecasting the weather!

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2023 14:53

It looks as if the jigsaw was of the centre court so they probably bought it in the Wimbledon shop - sneaky!

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2023 14:54

I vote for Fergus to give them a shoe up the arse

Wu is having some kind of heart related medical issue. Hope he's okay.

I've just seen that Raonic lost the first set- come on Milos!

ChessieFL · 05/07/2023 15:37

I really don’t understand the Wimbledon scheduling. Why are they pressing ahead with second round matches before finishing off all the first round matches? Some people are now though to the third round before others have finished their first round (some possibly haven’t even started their first round). Is it because they think people might complain if they don’t try and stick as closely as possible to the planned schedule?

I also don’t understand why they don’t start play earlier on the show courts when there’s a backlog of matches to get through. I can’t see any reason they can’t start play there at 11am too. It might interfere with hospitality arrangements a bit but they can always put a lower profile match on at 11 then follow with the usual higher profile ones.

Amdone123 · 05/07/2023 15:43

@ChessieFL , I'm the same.
I've been waiting to watch Katie and other matches are going ahead.
Personally, get the matches started at 9am 🤣

IceandIndigo · 05/07/2023 15:48

I agree Chessie. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s partly to do with broadcaster agreements. They are probably under contractual pressure to deliver high profile matches in the prime time slots. And broadcasters will have planned for the live feeds from the show courts to start at a certain time.

I totally agree!

I get that logic but high profile matches aren't going to be on the outside courts so aren't the matches which will be as effected

Raahh · 05/07/2023 16:02

Very straightforward win for Grigor- who obviously didn't want to hang around in case of any more rain.
And Milos has levelled at 1 set all.

After a great start- Sakkari is in danger of going out.
