I’m getting a bit bored of these ‘fake’ Brits - and the weather!

I know they can’t help the rain but they don’t seem to have planned things very well with closing the roof on time etc Hmm

Must be rubbish for the players and the spectators - we’ve been spoilt for the last few years with mostly good weather

IceandIndigo · 05/07/2023 13:23

Weather is so rubbish, was looking forward to catching some of the action in my lunch break. To be fair to the tournament organisers the forecast was for all showers to clear by the time the show courts start, so I can understand why they didn’t close the roofs.

Looks like Maria Sakkari is off to a flying start.

Raahh · 05/07/2023 13:27

it doesn't help, that in the meantime, they are showing the Grigor match (that is rained off) but anyone turning on now won't necessarily realise that (it doesn't say 'replay' on screen- so it looks 'live'.

Grigor got a great start though.

ShakeYourFeathers · 05/07/2023 13:34

Having the roofs off at this point in time is rather silly imo

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2023 13:49

The crowd on court no 1 seem very excitable - maybe they’re just happy that there’s finally some tennis!

Fery seems to have got off to a good start

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2023 13:54

Just flicked to BBC1 and there's a man playing a massive accordion for Charles and Camilla!

The weather looks lovely in Edinburgh

Weather is much better now, looks like outer courts are restarting.

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2023 13:59

Not going too great for Jodie Burrage

It’s a shame Jane, she’s had a pretty good season so far. I really like Daria though.

ChessieFL · 05/07/2023 14:03

Shame to see Jodie struggling so much - I wasn’t expecting her to win but hopefully she can get some games in set 2.

I am getting confused with all the coverage jumping around. I keep seeing covers going on, being taken off, going on again and I lose track whether it’s live or just showing what happened earlier!!

Does anyone know if there’s a site anywhere which shows who all the umpires are for the different matches? Or do you just have to wait and see if the commentators happen to mention who it is?

Raahh · 05/07/2023 14:04

Good to see the sun shining now.

I can't decide whether to stick with Daniil, or carry on watching Raonic when it resumes.

Big decisions Grin.

I can only find a general list of who is commentating over the fortnight- but every so often in a match (usually a new set) the names flash up.

Sorry, not not commentators, umpires - but it used to say on the ATP site - but not always.
i like to know who the umpires are too Grin

ShakeYourFeathers · 05/07/2023 14:16

Oh for flips sake. Now antler rain delay and then the 20mins for the roof to go on

Raahh · 05/07/2023 14:17

Seriously? They didn't see this coming??

Raahh · 05/07/2023 14:19

This is ridiculous- they delayed covering the court on 1, and aren't closing the roof yet.

They will be drying the thing by hand again later. Hmm

It's bloody stupid.

Get those leaf blowers and Djok out with this paper fanning the leaves again

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2023 14:20

Maybe they should move Wimbledon up to Edinburgh Grin

ShakeYourFeathers · 05/07/2023 14:20

Lost track how many round 1 matches are still to play

Grin it's a shame he didn't injure himself, really.

'Grass drying related inury'- do you think he would have sued the AELTC? Grin

😂😂😂 probably

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2023 14:23

Wimbledon, the rain and the BBC are all giving me the rage today! Sort it out Tim! They were showing the massive black rain clouds but still not closing the roof! Angry

ShakeYourFeathers · 05/07/2023 14:23

How long will they leave it putting roofs on? When does a quick shower become roof worthy?

RaraRachael · 05/07/2023 14:24

Just back from the gym to watch the tennis and it's bloody raining - AGAIN. Oh well Classic Emmerdale it is then @JaneJeffer

Seriously can I ask for some info from the Wimbledon aficionados among you. I went in the 80s - my sister and I queued up in a field, paid a few pounds and got general ground entry to wander about all the outside courts.

My daughter and I would like to go again - no chance of getting tickets in the ballot so what's the setup now for general admission. All I see are people who have been camping out which we're not prepared to do.
Can you still turn up on the day, queue up and get in for a wander around?

Thank you muchly,
