Thanks for the new thread!

Anyone watching Andy? Bloody Alex de Minaur, I don’t like him and I don’t even know why.

Good win for Holger today, and lucky escape for Carlos!

Raahh · 20/06/2023 18:06

I caught the end of the Sascha/Domi match, which ended up being a pretty straightforward win for Sascha.

IceandIndigo · 20/06/2023 18:48

Disappointing for Andy, but de Minaur played really well.

Fizzywinegum · 20/06/2023 18:53

Just saw the last set of the de Minaur/Murray match - looked as if Murray didn’t really get going - bit if a step up from challenger events

Dan Evans and Lloyd Glasspool won their doubles match , so he might feel a bit happier now. (Though Liam Broady had played Mannarino earlier in the day).

ooh- Tiafoe- Korda tomorrow should be good.

JaneJeffer · 20/06/2023 20:32

It takes flipping ages to catch up with all the scores everywhere.

Seems Bublik thrashed Coric!

We are spoilt with the amount of tennis at the moment Grin.

I'm going to come down to earth with a thump, once the next few weeks are over, since we will be heading for the hardcourts and North America- and I won't be able to watch all day Grin. Since the start of the clay season, I've been able to watch something nearly every week, it seems. I'm also uncertain about whether I will be able to watch the US Open anyway this year- I don't think it's on Prime now.

Some good matches today both in Halle and Queen's. Stef (who had a scare against Barrere) might struggle against Jarry who has been having a very good run. Looking forward to Musetti/Shelton, and Tiafoe/Korda.
Even though Ryan beat Holger last year in Eastbourne, I'm not sure he will repeat that.

Jordan 'The Tache' Thompson and Charismatic Cameron are the other match. Sounds Saturday afternoon wrestling on ITV. But probably not as funny.

Grin

Yes lots of tennis happening! Looking forward to watching some later - might give the Tache and Cam a miss though!

Annet Kontaveit has announced she will retire after Wimbledon. She has lumbar disc degeneration which sounds painful Sad

Big Foe did not disappoint me with his insta post Grin

Poor Annet- she had such a big career ahead at one stage, and she's not very old at all.

Love Big Foe Grin. I

It was lovely to see the Thierev fist bump back in action yesterday. I wonder if Sascha finds it hard to play against Domi now knowing how good he was before. It must hard to see for him to see Domi struggling to get back to previous form when Sascha has managed to almost get back to normal after his own injury IYSWIM

Lionoso · 21/06/2023 11:04

I'm a fan of Raonic and Berrettini. I feel this is the path to suffering as a tennis fan 😶

Milos finally back to tennis after what 2 years? And has already withdrawn from Queens with a shoulder injury, they both seem such physically fragile players. I was really looking forward especially to seeing Milos back on grass again after so long.

Raahh · 21/06/2023 11:25

Hello, Lionoso! - I'm a big Raonic fan (and Matteo)- I hoped for good things when Milos won a match last week, but he couldn't back it up and it's a shame he is injured again. It's a huge blow to Berrettini, because this was such a good patch for him last year (before being unable to play Wimbledon).

Jane I was wondering what Sascha /Dom must have been thinking- because they've only played once (since the US Open win) and that was 2 years ago. And a lot has happened to both of them really in that time- but certainly Domi's career is faltering.

It does seem to be the luck of the draw/nature of the injure - I don't now- why some players recover and come back (as Rafa was able to, more than once)- but players like Delpo/Raonic/Thiem have found it much harder returning from injuries (though Delpo had a good run, before damaging his knee).

Talking of Delpo, he still hopes to come out of retirement and play one last time at the US Open. Not sure how wise that is.

Raahh · 21/06/2023 11:33

Just watching Struff in Halle- lovely shot then of Marvellous Marvin Grin

Raahh · 21/06/2023 12:21

Switched over to the Shelton/Musetti match. I much prefer Lorenzo's blue version of the green stripy top Grin.

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2023 13:01

Just tuned into BBC2 now. The sound quality is still shite.

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2023 13:03

"Rune has the stones" who came up with that headline? Grin

Jaunty jewellery is Claire's new thing

Raahh · 21/06/2023 13:10

Maybe it's her new look for her new job?

If she's not careful though, she will turn into Prue Leith. (probably good thing she doesn't wear glasses) Best to leave the 'interesting ' specs to BJK Grin

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2023 13:12

Very unbiased list of wildcard players Hmm

Raahh · 21/06/2023 13:13

Jane isn't it just?

No wild card for Feli .Sad

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2023 13:14

There's two unannounced spots in the men's I think? And one in the women's.

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2023 13:15

Glad Goffin got one

Fizzywinegum · 21/06/2023 13:15

Poor Feli - could he be one of the TBAs?

AC looking very casual - he seems to be going for the wet look with his hair Hmm
