But of course the big question is, will Arabella Weir move in two doors down?

Oh gawd not another Gemma & Chesney 'too skint for basic childcare and children's clubs' storyline. That summer club that the little lad wants to go to would be Ofsted registered and 85% reclaimable through the Universal Credit that no-one in Weatherfield has ever heard of. And the rest.

So annoying, isn't it?
And if the writers actually did their research and got it right, they could actually be helping other families too.
But no Hmm

Heliotroper · 05/07/2023 11:05

Yet in Debbie Webster's Cheesey Hotel Bar everyone manages to pull + just order a drink, sit back listen to the slinky piano music, admire the magnolia decor and someone will hit on you

eggandonion · 05/07/2023 11:18

The hotel should have a spin off series.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 05/07/2023 12:06

They’ve spent the money on the set and are determined to use it, regardless of how unlikely the context!

In reality, Paul would have been getting hammered in some dive bar or the kind of pub where you buy drugs in the bogs. But no - penniless Paul, in his tatty old market stall hoodie, heads off to a posh hotel. I fully expect Claire Sweeney to rock up there next week for a glass of champers while she skins up.

Dodgy ex could have just stole the money from Paul's jacket hen he saw it in the bar .
Why all this ...up to a room...drink/pretend to to drink stuff.

Unless we now have months of anguish from Paul trying to remember if he was unfaithful or not ?

you woke up with your clothes on Paul!

thenightsky · 05/07/2023 13:43

Why did Paul even have the money as a wad of cash? Wouldn't there be a go fund me account set up or something?

AutumnCrow · 05/07/2023 13:43

Paul will have to 'confess' to Billy Prayerhands and we'll have two anguished faces for the price of one

AutumnCrow · 05/07/2023 13:44

Because crap plot

eggandonion · 05/07/2023 13:51

There is no bank nearby so wads of currency are a thing. The post office in the Kabin is gone? Poor Paul is having a terrible time.
Did Deedee ship home her clothes from America? She needs a nice love interest.

They are sending the wrong characters there.

We need Dev sashaying in dressed like Bryan Ferry.

eggandonion · 05/07/2023 14:28

Who is allowed...Daniel and Daisy. Sarah but Adam would beed a hair intervention. Deedee and a nice accountant love interst. Dev but not Bernie. Dr Gadass. Naice people.

EachandEveryone · 05/07/2023 16:24

The ex mayoress can go. I suppose those old neighbours of Aggie if they can afford the bar tab. Are they coming into the show do you think? It could be the new Crossroads.

eggandonion · 05/07/2023 17:28

Mike Baldwin used to go to a very posh restaurant. It might have been called The Clock.Lots of linen napkins.
Jenny could go to the posh hotel and Joseph's granny. They need some more suave men.

FeltCarrot · 05/07/2023 18:03

Delphine’s was the place to be seen back in the day. Mike was always booking a table for two there!

Heliotroper · 05/07/2023 19:27

Debbie's Hotel is the Weatherfield branch of The White Lotus

AutumnCrow · 05/07/2023 20:10

So now Chesney and Gemma can't afford toilet paper. Right.

Their child benefit alone would be £380 pcm. Plus UC, x5 child elements, housing element, and, given the supervision, assistance and aids that Aled requires, probably DLA medium rate, Carer's Allowance and a UC disbability element. <screams>

Neverinamonthofsundays · 05/07/2023 21:19

Not to mention her job in the pub, her tips, all Chesneys working hours etc. The writers have not got a clue.

AutumnCrow · 05/07/2023 21:27

And they get all those bargain kebabs! Plus Bernie pays keep as she's working, I think. And I bet Jawseph has a few bob from Rich Grandma put away. If he had a trust fund, the trustees would definitely release money for a summer club from which he would benefit.

And, most importantly, they'd all be nicking bog roll from work like there's no tomorrow.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 05/07/2023 21:41

Or they could start ripping off pieces of Gemmas wedding dress and it would last a few months.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 05/07/2023 23:52

Why does Billy always look like a pony a little girl has grown out of and who’s about to be sent to the Tesco lasagne factory?

OP posts:
AutumnCrow · 05/07/2023 23:57

He's St Anguishstine

aflix · 06/07/2023 00:09

Not sure Billy looks like a pony, but with that awful beard, he's a dead ringer for Billy Goat Gruff.

That's brilliant! 😁

Heliotroper · 06/07/2023 09:22

I see Toyah's concerned face is back and getting everywhere - "if you really love them give them another go" seems to be the routine advice trotted out in Corrie, same line Ken fed Adam.

Or a terrier
