But of course the big question is, will Arabella Weir move in two doors down?

Is Gemma a registered childminder? All those little kids in that tiny room, no outside space. Daniel and Michael must be mad to leave their kids with her.

Giltedged · 07/07/2023 20:12

I don’t think she is.

I am with Beth on this.

FeltCarrot · 07/07/2023 20:16

And I seem to remember Michael giving her £60 for a day, so if she has Glory and Bertie 5 days that’s £600pw!!

Doubt it

Oh here we go, Bernie with a life-saving fiver for Gemma, while Gemma cries 'we'll have to maaaanaaaaaage, mam'.

So Bernie has never heard of benefits either, to mention them to Gemma? Or Dr Gadass, who is the family's GP? Or Aled's special nursery staff? Or anyone? Not even Yasmeen who helps run most of the stuff at the community centre, or ex-councillors/mayors who live in or near to the Street, or the teachers, or nurses, or anyone.

This really is pathetic.

Then one day, when the writers finally twig from reading this thread, we'll get a quick mention shoe-horned in from Chesney to Dev that 'there's been a bit of a hold-up on our benefits, so we're really super stuck this month, mate'.

woodhill · 07/07/2023 20:20

Gemma doesn't seem to move off the settee

Does any of them need the toilet or a drink

Giltedged · 07/07/2023 20:20

Surely the quads should be in preschool?

FeltCarrot · 07/07/2023 20:25

Yep, no interaction with any of the children. They are just left to roll a car across the table for hours and hours…

woodhill · 07/07/2023 20:27

They'd be all fighting with each other by now and crying

They don't just sit at the table like that

FeltCarrot · 07/07/2023 20:30

And Daniel appeared totally unconcerned that Gemma was asleep leaving 6 under 4’s on their own.
Its such a stupid storyline.

Giltedged · 07/07/2023 20:30

I know it’s such a stupid storyline but Daniel could easily afford a proper nursery or childminder for Bertie!

Giltedged · 07/07/2023 20:31

Sorry @FeltCarrot cross post but we used the same phrase 😂

Zarataralara · 07/07/2023 20:49

Ryan’s makeup is really badly done this episode, you can see where it ends just below his hairline. Far too pale and flat. How did no one filming notice.

Zarataralara · 07/07/2023 20:49

Not notice

FeltCarrot · 07/07/2023 20:50

The Tim/Elaine/Stephen story is just like Gail/Audrey/Richard (but parent/child roles reversed)

MichaelAndEagle · 07/07/2023 21:53

I've missed the Gemma being depressed thing. Admittedly I don't watch every episode but last time I saw it she was her usual self at the chilli eating contest.

Clawdy · 07/07/2023 22:59

So you decide to curl up and sleep in a room full of toddlers, including two you are being paid to look after? It would have made more sense as a storyline if she'd been trying to get drinks and meals in the kitchen for them while Bertie grabbed the pills.

zanahoria · 07/07/2023 23:05

Gemma is not registered and could not look after six kids if she was. There was an episode where someone came round and told her this but Michael and Daniel were.not bothered.

Her depression came on some time this week, never been mentioned before.

JemimaTab · 08/07/2023 00:36

Gemma is unbearable. Her “acting” this episode consisted of just doing a cartoon “sadface” throughout. How on earth is she running a business looking after other people’s children and why on earth are we expected to feel sorry for her when she’s endangered those children?

eggandonion · 08/07/2023 08:53

Hopefully social services intervention will be positive!

Lorrymum · 08/07/2023 09:17

Bernie knew all about applying for DLA for Paul so obviously is aware of benefits available. It drives me insane when I watch Gemma and the families lack of money.
The writers are totally out of touch with reality and any semblance of real life. They disrespect the audience, are happy to beat us over the head with "socially aware" stories that are never properly concluded.
Aaarrgh!!

RoyCroppersBag · 08/07/2023 12:05

Why do Gemma and Chesney have a stable door for their front door? There must have been a story about this?
