Martin adopted Sarah and Nick too didn’t he? I thought the whole point of that argument was to highlight (to us and Martin) how immature she actually is. Not so much the keeping Karl’s secret but making stupid jokes when they were arguing and storming out for dramatic effect and saying things like ‘you’re not her real dad’ like a teenager would!

Corporal, I’m just rewatching it now (sans wine), I agree with you. I think it was highlighting how a grown up would deal with a situation like that and how she did. I must have missed tge bit where she said “you’re not even her real dad”. Wow!

I really didn’t enjoy the 00s. So much sleaze. I remember the competition in one of the magazines… win your GF a boob job. I was a teenager/early 20s and remember feeling very confused about how to carry myself as a woman.

Oh yes, that comment was very teenage. But what did he expect? She still comes across as mature for a 17 year old I think.

I can’t believe Martin was supposed to be about 35 at the time. He looks so much older.

what did he expect? well exactly. I think you could see the dawning realisation on his face that this kind of thing was inevitable.

Yes he adopted them both but nick was about eight so a lot older and obviously remembered Brian whereas Sarah was only a toddler so was much closer to Martin than nick.

I only vaguely remember certain scenes so I’d definitely appreciate no 20 year old spoilers

I do remember the Quo were in corrie for the wedding of Les and Cilla and Les got a bit rock star and threw all the wedding gifts out the window , great fight scenes🤣 , it was after all Cilla's motivation for getting married .

Martin,is a twat, he knows his 17 year old daughter is having a traumatic time and is having a difficult pregnancy yet he allows his 17 year old girlfriend to turn off his phone to enjoy some afternoon sex
And then blames her when his family can't get in touch with him
I don't like the Katie character or the story line but none of this is her fault.

I agree, it’s only watching Corrie second time around that I realise what a horrible character Martin is; don’t know what Katie is supposed to see in him

Gail is a comic character now, but she was quite nasty back in the day

I’m happy Gail gave Todd a picture but Martin was unfair on Katy. She didn’t know the baby had died when she got the birthday card so yes, to us it was insensitive but she wasn’t told otherwise she wouldn’t have got that card

Yes I felt for Katie it just shows just how young she is at that age you don't expect babies to die

I watch via the catch up tv option but it only goes up to episode 107. The episodes after are on ITV X, has anyone else noticed this? It’s annoying as watching via the catch up option means no adverts while ITV X does have adverts.

I felt very sorry for Todd. And Sarah. Not only did she lose her baby but she had to put up with Gail constantly trying to wake her up to sob over her.

Martin is such a twat. Katie is grown up when it suits him and a stupid kid when it doesn't. It's a horrible imbalance of power that would be enough to fuck with anyone's head, never mind a 17 year old's.

He lived with Gail long enough to know what teenagers are like
And evenn the most mature 17 would struggle in this situation.

Gail’s obsessive smothering/interference re. her adult son and near-adult daughter is not something I noticed when I first watched but it’s really obvious now. I’ve seen it in real life but the women tend to be people with not much else going on. Gail has a full-time job, her mother and her friends though.

hit send too soon! I think it’s because of the danger Richard Hillman put them all in. I don’t think she’s dealt with the repercussions of that properly, and is overcompensating.

She was awful with Nick and Leanne to though ok I wouldn't be thrilled if my 16/17 year old son got married either but she didn't handle it well
