The absolute wrongness of Martin taking his pregnant 16 year old step daughter out with his 17 year old girl friend to bars! Can you imagine those two passing for 18 and actually being let in? I was so cross with cilla threatening to put Chesney in care and pinching his Easter egg! Oooh what a cow!

It just shows how things have moved in, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing from Martin about the gay club.

When Kyle had the black eye last week I was pretty horrified by the blasé attitude to a domestic violence situation, it seemed Implied that it was just “2 blokes” having a ruck. Things have definitely moved on and you are right there was some serious homophobia running through that.

A friend of mine worked in a bar in Canal Street at the time this was filmed and Adam Rickett, who played Nick was a regular.

I’d forgotten how unpleasant Cilla was at the beginning. Lazy, deceitful, a lousy parent. I never thought I’d say that Chesney was lucky to have Les and Kirk as male role models!!….although in fairness, Kirk was a good man, just dim. Is he still in CS? He was with an older lady who was mates with Tracy when I last watched it several years ago.

I think Kirk is still in CS - he was married to Beth but turned out to be bigamous so not sure if they are still together.

Her lip curling and flouncing bosom are fantastic! She’s a bloody horrible character though, she makes Les seem like a paragon of sensitivity, there’s no irredeemable facet to her either.

I hate the way that male nurse (Carl?) is portrayed as a creepy predator putting such awful pressure on Todd. Makes me feel very uncomfortable.

I think Cilla is introduced as a godawful mother but will have her character at least partially redeemed in the coming months. Remember how awful the whole Battersby clan was when they first arrived? Look at them now - Leanne and Toyah, at least, are totally different to when they first arrived. I think the same will be/is the case with Cilla. She'll never be up for mother of the year, but they surely can't keep her as this awful awful woman.

I remember when she first arrived in Corrie, and thinking how well the hair/makeup team had done, because Cilla Brown had a face like a bag of spanners, and Wendi Peters had a lovely face and smile!

Feeling quite sorry for Todd at the moment, and him trying to fight his feelings of being gay and fancying Carl. He's so conflicted, knowing that he is having a baby with Sarah, and planning their wedding, whilst he must also be feeling trapped into that life.

I think it must be revealed soon, because I don't think he and Sarah ended up married.

So it must be time for Gail's iconic one-liner during a doorstep argument with Eileen 😂

It did make me laugh that every song in the night club was pretty much kylie!

Normally they do redeem the characters but I think Cilla did continue to be bloody awful (although I’m sure she became more comedy) but she always got thwarted somehow so the God of soap justice was appeased.

We have also got the Maya storyline ramping up, how vile is she? How horrible was she to poor little Chesney over that 2p for the bread?

Is Classic Corrie Sean and modern day Sean meant to be the same character ? Was he a nurse like Carl in classic and if he was why does he now work in a knicker factory ?

@FlibbertyGibbitt I don’t think he’s supposed to be a nurse? He’s just… there… unfortunately. That hairstyle of his was giving me terrible flashbacks to an ex BF, to the point I was having to look away from the screen. And then the bloody shampoo rep had the same style!

To be fair, he never seems to be leaving Todd alone. He’s the one who made the moves when Todd is with Sarah
