Place your bets for how many years out of date the storylines in the title will be by the end of the thread… 😁

No.he hasn't he's played him since David was about ten
The first person to play David was Thomas Ormson ,who.like a lot of young Corrie kids ,was rarely seen and rarely heard and quite wooden

Oh, yes. You're right. Sorry.

No worries he's a cracking actor and makes the other David platt pale into insignificance, and in unmemorable

x2boys · 08/11/2023 21:32

I think the little twins who.play they young Bethany platt are quite good ,obviously they didn't play her in later years but they clearly feel quite natural.around Tina O'Brien I noticed one of them playing with her hair and sucking her thumb the other day which was very natural.and sweet

I love Blanche I have never forgotten her classic line on finding a drunken Ken had spent all night on the sofa in the lounge, " We need fresh air, it smells like an anchovies jockstrap in here"

whomoon · 09/11/2023 14:01

Is Suranne Jones, plays Karen, pregnant in real life?
She’s showing the classic signs of hiding behind things and not showing her figure like she usually does.

I’m looking forward to all of Blanche’s classic lines that we’ll get to enjoy again!
Whenever she described Liz was always hilarious

Yes... Skirt like a pelmet and roots as dark as her soul 😂

Jim McDonald in the caravan, just 🤮. I’d have knee’d him in the groin.

She was the queen of the one-liners, wasn't she. So badly missed.

My favourite line of hers was relating to Liz McDonald. "Skirt no bigger than a belt, too much eyeliner, and roots as dark as her soul"

CherryogDog · 10/11/2023 09:30

My favourite Blanche line was when Simon got some hankies as a present with S embroidered on them.
Leanne said something about S for Simon and Blanche said no, it's S for snot 😅

OnTheBoardwalk · 13/11/2023 21:56

Since when was Jim ever a good guy? shouldn’t be calling the police straight away?

absolutely ridiculous story for Blackpool

the caravan scene between Jim and Liz was disturbing

CyanCrystalViolet · 13/11/2023 22:08

I haven’t been watching classic Corrie for long but vaguely remember Jim the first time around. Wasn’t he a violent alcoholic domestic abuser, so he was?

I enjoyed scenes with Bet and with Fred. I don’t know if him repeating himself is supposed to be so funny but it cracks me up every time.

I also found Our Ashley and Clur’s boat sinking scene very amusing. And Karen’s mardiness.

It was nice to see Blackpool again. We used to holiday there quite a bit when I was a child.

He was a complex character our Jim.
When he first started he wss a fairly decent, family man who.was,a bit to fond of the old whiskey so he was
But His and Liz,s relationship.became quite toxic when they lost a,baby so it did ,she cheated he be came violent
There relationship wasn't exactly a match made in heaven!

TennisWithDeborah · 14/11/2023 10:20

I think that Liz and Jim were a classic case of people who’d got together as teens, had an unplanned pregnancy and rightly tried to make a go of it… but should have conceded defeat and parted amicably in their twenties. Jim was violent and Liz cheated, they did not make each other happy or bring out the best in one another. The scene in the caravan was disturbing but it was perfectly in keeping with the characters - great writing and acting imo.

whomoon · 15/11/2023 14:06

Imagine waiting 24 hours waiting for the police to launch a search for a missing child!!
was this actual law back then, or something that was part of film/tv?
surely the first 24 hours are the most critical to find someone.

eggandonion · 15/11/2023 14:19

Possibly different if a family member had permission to look after a child? It wasn't as if she wandered off or was abducted in some way.

She was, with her Grandma
If she had disappeared from a Garden for example I imagine it would be a,whole different scenario
Mind you the poor kid has Been through s,lot for someone so.young
Kidnapped as a new born
Born to a 13 year old mother
Her other Grandma who.she lived with married a psycho ,who tried to kill her and her family and killed half the street
Her Biological father died as a 16 year old in tragic circumstances
And new Grandma is a religious fanatic and things won't be plain sailing there either ....
And she's not yet four!

Zippedydoo123 · 15/11/2023 15:31

eggandonion · 15/11/2023 16:30

Lots of drama today!

user6776 · 15/11/2023 21:30

Just catching up. Actually really enjoying the Blackpool episodes and the return of Bet, Liz & Jim

I'm really far behind at the minute. Can anyone tell me if it's almost Xmas in classic yet? I need to catch up.

Been and gone. I think we’re in 2004 now from what Ken said
