Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite.

I am kind of interested in Carrie’s storyline so will watch to the end but I’m not sure why!

@BethDuttonsTwin I’d feel sorry for anyone having to spend time with either Miranda or Che, especially when they’re together having sex in the next room whilst simultaneously holding a housewarming party 😬.

I’m enjoying all of Carries storylines and I’m quite enjoying all of the new characters except Nya who I find a bit boring.

I wish Charlotte and Harry’s relationship felt a bit more authentic- I loved them in SATC. Their kids are very one dimensional and hard to like and I really want to like them.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 16/07/2023 09:52

@BethDuttonsTwin you are right Miranda is completely insufferable. That cheerleader scene and the request for a hug almost had me running to the bathroom to hurl. I'm currently rewatching every SATC episode ( now nearing the end of season 3) and she is just fabulous. I just watched the one where she had to wear braces. The humour, the vulnerability, the sass, was a joy to behold. They are now 2 entirely different characters.

KillingMeDeftly · 16/07/2023 10:20

It's so disappointing as Miranda was probably my favourite character in the original.

memoriesofamiga · 16/07/2023 11:09

Miranda was the character I felt was closest to my personality, I was a 'Miranda'. She's a pale imitation of that now which I find so sad. I dont recognise her at all.

Did anyone else find the scene where Miranda was Che’s cheerleader exceptionally irritating? I find Miranda’s new personality much more annoying than Che’s.

Yes!! I’ve figured out I don’t hate Che as much as I hate New Miranda.

Che IS a twat though - weed parties until 4am, so fucking inconsiderate and childish. Also how does someone with such an abysmal personality have so many friends

Lottapianos · 16/07/2023 11:53

'Also how does someone with such an abysmal personality have so many friends'

I know! What on earth would you get out of a friendship with her, apart from weed?

I loved Miranda in the original series, she was my favourite character. She's absolutely nothing like that now

AnnaNims · 16/07/2023 13:23

Miranda has become so needy, pathetic and unlikeable. She is totally different to the old Miranda.

KillingMeDeftly · 16/07/2023 13:30

Are we meant to think Che is super cool and edgy, therefore we'd all want to be their friend?

WeetabixTowels · 16/07/2023 13:35

I have to say, I resonated with Che when she wanted to get Miranda out her apartment. She’d had bad news, with financial implications, she didn’t need an angry cheerleader saying ‘eat shit’ about everyone, she needed meaningful support and solutions.

I wasn't seeing David Duchovny, but then I remembered Carrie's high school sweetheart played by DD, and his high school picture with the shaggy hair, and yes, I totally see what. you mean!

Yes or Wayne’s World’s Wayne.

WeveLostSightOfWhatANormalHoodieSizeIs · 16/07/2023 18:14

The bit I thought was the worst this week was the strange ‘sexual facial expression’ that Miranda made when Nya was telling her about her one night stand. It was so weird and uncomfortable.

StarShapedWindow · 16/07/2023 19:53

@WeetabixTowels I agree 100%, I can’t imagine anything more irritating!

Yes or Wayne’s World’s Wayne.

I thought it was a bit Wayne’s World too!

memoriesofamiga · 16/07/2023 20:50

Harry in his wig reminded me of his character in Californication (which also had David Duchovny in it).

Highlyflavouredgravy · 16/07/2023 21:25

Where are you all watching ajlt??

Now TV. You can get a cheap deal if you’re a new subscriber.

Netaporter · 17/07/2023 02:31

@Highlyflavouredgravy watching on Sky where each episode is released on sky comedy at 8am Thursday

startafresh123 · 17/07/2023 07:44

I'm gonna go against the grain here... I thought Che was alright in season 1. She seemed kinda cool / attractive / funny doing her podcast etc. and could see why Miranda might like her (although not to the extent she did, having a personality transplant and being all pathetic and annoying).

Now they've dumbed down Che's character I think they are just a bit meh and annoying while Miranda continues to be v annoying.

Feel like S2 is missing a bigger storyline? There's nothing that's making me want to tune in next week to see what happens.

It's kind of entertaining.. I probably like the new characters more than the old ones!

heartofglass23 · 17/07/2023 19:26

I've started watching SATC again from the start.

Given Samantha introduces Big as a younger better looking Donald Trump it's safe to say he's a billionaire so 100k to widow Carrie will be peanuts.

LeonardCohensRaincoat · 17/07/2023 21:41

Do you think Big would have been so attractive to Carrie if he was just a regular office worker in the city?

It was definitely his ability to keep her in Manolos that made her want to marry him. She was that shallow.

I don’t agree with you. I think they’re all connected. High flying job, the personality, the attraction. But the cause and affect not so much. I suspect the personality caused the attraction and the high flying job. As opposed to the high flying job causing the attraction. Don’t know enough about his background to say whether the personality caused the high flying job or the high flying job cause the personality. So that’s about as clear as mud.

startafresh123 · 17/07/2023 21:47

I'm not really a Carrie fan but I don't think she specifically went for him for the money, I think he main draw was how he kept her on her toes (treated her like shit!?) but I guess if he was rich then would add to that arrogant bravado that she liked about him.

startafresh123 · 17/07/2023 21:48

Think I'm trying to say the same as @ReeseWitherfork !

memoriesofamiga · 17/07/2023 23:15

I agree with @ReeseWitherfork . I know people like this in real life. They have certain jobs, in some cases family money too, so they all socialise in the same circles. So it goes without saying that people date in those same circles. Being with someone else would just be hugely unlikely.

Apart from Miranda, who met Steve. And of course dumped him first time round for not being part of that circle.

LeonardCohensRaincoat · 17/07/2023 23:32

No, I know what you mean @ReeseWitherfork

and I do agree - a woman likeCarrie can know that a man like him has money but do you think she would have really stuck with him if he had lost it all? Everything, the apartment, the limo, the suits, the job- in a situation like that, I think she would have tried for a while and then left. Somehow. That’s why I think with characters like Big, the money made the attraction ( to her and us). What else did we know about him? He could be suave with money but I think he would just be a difficult type without it. And she wouldn’t have stuck around unless she thought he was going to get back ( financially) to that lifestyle she had structured her whole self around since she was young. He just facilitated it and gave her the status in that upmarket NYC world that she wanted.
