Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite.

I am kind of interested in Carrie’s storyline so will watch to the end but I’m not sure why!

The actor playing George is in another show, Blue Bloods, as the ex husband of a woman played by the same actress who plays Natasha in SATC/AJLT!
I loved Carrie’s hat/coat combo during the bike accident scenes. Why is Miranda so often in brown?! Yeah, yeah, chic, understated, autumn colouring, quiet luxury but ugh! So much brown.

Oscarpapa · 13/07/2023 20:21

Anyone who watches Law and Order - George is Olivia’s Benson’s husband in real life. He was also in blue bloods.

Preferred this week’s episode with the exception of Che and their boring arrogant drivel.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/07/2023 14:20

Yes Harry in the wig was funny

I thought he looked like David Duchovny 😂

I wasn't seeing David Duchovny, but then I remembered Carrie's high school sweetheart played by DD, and his high school picture with the shaggy hair, and yes, I totally see what. you mean!

ArseMenagerie · 13/07/2023 21:09

Loved Carries style this ep - I was concerned Miranda was having a stroke at some points, she looked so odd and there were weird long pauses when she spoke 😳
it’s better than ep one and I’m enjoying it more, it’s no SATC but it’s better than working which I should be doing this eve 😬

DickingAboutWithAubergines · 13/07/2023 21:21

Loved Harry and LTW/Anthony dance off. Charlotte's face looked more normal and her costume looked better than her Snow White wardrobe. Carrie's checked coat was gorgeous. Not sure why Miranda was eating red (presumably Thai) curry with chop sticks.

Che was che but Miranda acts like she's her mum!

SammyScrounge · 13/07/2023 22:00

Tonight was the first time 'I laughed this second.- the man with the penis pump and the way that woman stared and kept insisting they were cool.

I laughed too. I like Seema and I like LKW too.

LittleBearPad · 13/07/2023 22:07

LTW!

thebellagio · 13/07/2023 22:35

This was the best episode by far. Loved carries outfits.

seema cracks me up, she’s a brilliant addition. Dare I say it? I don’t miss Samantha when seema is on screen….

im starting to like Nya ans LTW. Heck I’m even remembering their names!

Charlotte was more fun this week (so what was the shit with Lilly’s song the other week. Where was that going!?!)

che was marginally better at the end. There’s no doubt Sara Ramirez is a brilliant actor. But the character is just such a twat - having a party when Miranda was sleeping? That’s just inconsiderate BS. And the old Miranda would never have stood for it.

but the biggest problem is the yelling at the audience YET AGAIN. The scene with the tester audience was clearly aimed at the criticism of the character from fans. And Cynthia Nixon just HAD to tell us that we’re all wrong. I honestly don’t think they can ever redeem the character enough. They may as well write che out and start again.

Also why is Miranda having to shop for second hand furniture? Surely she has savings????

SammyScrounge · 13/07/2023 22:35

Who is LTW?

DickingAboutWithAubergines · 13/07/2023 22:39

SammyScrounge · 13/07/2023 22:35

Who is LTW?

Lisa Todd Wexley - Charlotte's school mum friend.

Haven't watched it and won't. Samantha was always the best and most comedic character but they were all pretty one dimensional really. But SATC was entertaining with it.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 13/07/2023 22:51

I can't even begin to comprehend what has happened to Miranda. She is just so weak, fragile and desperate around che. And I actually gasped out loud at her reaction to the ladies going to a fancy hotel to meet men. Where did that 1950s pearl clutching come from?? This from the Miranda who pretended to be an air hostess to sleep with someone. I'm completely and utterly baffled.

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 13/07/2023 22:58

@KillingMeDeftly

Ahh, so George on the bike guy was David, who went to Yale, and had teeth so perfect he didn't need a brace. I thought I recognised him but I couldn't figure out where from.

Really enjoyable and fun episode. Well done MPK.

Thank you, DAWAubergines!.

Gotthehint · 14/07/2023 00:40

So Miranda, a seasoned New Yorker was going from Hudson Hards to Brooklyn to Columbia every morning to make her adult son breakfast. 🙄

ReeseWitherfork · 14/07/2023 07:19

Miranda appears to have just become Cynthia Nixon. (I say that but I don’t really know Cynthia Nixon.) Everything that made Miranda great has been lost, and that apparently needs to include her bank balance. So now we need to believe she doesn’t have a spare bedroom and the funds to buy new furniture.

This new Miranda character isn’t horrendous*, but it’s not who we signed up for. In a Samantha free world, they didn’t have the capacity to also lose a second main character.

*she is pretty damn annoying, but the original four all were too, in an endearing way.

Eccle80 · 14/07/2023 09:20

I’ve found this series much better than the first, particularly the most recent episodes.
I think even Che has improved, and has a bit more character, but I can’t see that they would stay in a relationship with Miranda for long.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 14/07/2023 10:02

Not only would she NOT be wandering around charity shops looking for a second hand bed ( which Carrie wouldn't even deign to sit on), she'd be all set up in some nice little Airbnb loft type situation in a location that would work for her new situation.

Oscarpapa · 14/07/2023 10:40

Miranda is just awful. I see she directed this week’s episode as well. I’d be embarrassed and wouldn’t want my name anywhere near it. Che I ignore now. I think Sara was great in Greys anatomy but the character of Che is not likeable at all.

Love Seema - feel like she’s AJLT’s Samantha. Also like Lisa and Nya as well. Charlotte I find a bit dull but I liked seeing her and Harry this week. Overall it’s an improvement. I’d probably enjoy it a bit more without Miranda and Che. I wouldn’t find it amazing but it would be improved.

I was trying to work out how far she was travelling

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/07/2023 11:06

And yes Miranda is rich. I know the house they brought prob took up their savings but she worked for years as a high powered lawyer

hopeishere · 14/07/2023 11:08

I cannot believe Miranda's house only has two bedrooms! Does Brady not know she's in a relationship with another woman?

I liked this episode!

readwritelove · 14/07/2023 11:44

I enjoyed last night's episode. Loved Harry and the wig! Loved Carrie getting out there and dating again. Miranda - 'Can I hug you before I go?' Ugh! I hope all this simpering leads to a climactic moment at the close of the season when Miranda sees the light, tells Che to fuck off and reclaims her former, true personality in magnificent fashion.

Go get your own girl, Miranda!

Ridemeginger · 14/07/2023 11:47

Because I am very sad (and work avoidant), I have dusted off the box set and found the episode where Steve and Miranda visit the Brooklyn house for the first time - "Out of the Frying Pan". This is the description of the house for sale ad Steve reads out: 3 bedroom, outdoor space, finished basement - it's an entire house. And it is evidently huge when they go to see it.

I believe Miranda's apartment was on Lexington Avenue - even with a mortgage, she would have made great money on that sale, and Brooklyn was not the trendy, desirable suburb back then that it is now. There's no way that property is not more or less mortgage free and/or worth 3 times the amount they paid for it (provided there's no story that they remortgaged it to prop up Steve's bar business of something).

Miranda invites Steve to bring his mother to live with them in the last episode - I can't see her doing that unless there was room. They have a whole basement to go at for extra space as well. Nobody needs to move out or sleep on the sofa. The Miranda 2.0 martyring herself on the sofa/travelling all over NY to make breakfast for her arse of a son is just a complete contrivance, and an insult to the viewers who've probably watched SATC 50 times and know it doesn't make sense. I think it's been done to fit into a narrative of Miranda being subjugated by all the decisions she made in the past - corporate law, marriage to a man who wasn't her equal, going ahead with her pregnancy, moving out of Manhattan. And being "saved" by the wonder that is Che and the entire gender queer movement and finding her "true self".
