Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite.

I am kind of interested in Carrie’s storyline so will watch to the end but I’m not sure why!

I don’t know why but love the scene with Natasha when she owns Carrie - I’m sorry too , not only have you ruined my marriage but you have now ruined my lunch - I’m sorry that this tooth is still a diff color to this one …. When she says I’m sorry too Carries all like you arrrrre ? So hopeful but she really does come across as such a selfish b…. She asked for that

Lottapianos · 09/07/2023 09:40

'Poor Anthony doesn't seem to be getting any screentime to talk about the end of his own marriage (he and Stanford have divorced, I assume?), he just has to provide sass for everyone else'

Very good point. Mind you, the gay men in SATC were always treated like a cross between pets and accessories

Really enjoying all the SJP love on this thread. She's always been one of my favourite famous women. Shes incredibly talented, and looks amazing (then and now) and wears an outfit like nobody else. And shes had to deal with vile comments about her looks, because she's not a classic beauty, similar to Barbra Streisand.

Lottapianos · 09/07/2023 09:45

I know Lentil - will definitely try to get tickets!

This is a brilliant observation. I wholeheartedly agree. As a side note I would love to see Barbra do a cameo in AJLT as she is one of the greatest New Yorkers of all time. And was a huge supporter of women’s and gay rights early doors.

zinfi · 09/07/2023 12:54

It says a lot (to me) that I found SJP the most annoying in SATC, and she's now the least.

Though of all the awful scenes (not including the non PC stuff from the films) was the scene where Carrie essentially re-enacts a scene from The Way we Were with Big after he chooses to marry Natasha, though he has no idea what she's going on about. She says to Big 'Your girl is lovely, Hubbell'.

Sumthingsweet · 09/07/2023 14:06

Yeah that was so cringe - Carrie def seems to have some mental health issues any one who worships shoes n clothes that much must have lol that being said it was entertaining to watch as they said out loud what women talk about

Lottapianos · 09/07/2023 14:30

She most certainly is 😊 surely they must have approached her at some point? Geri flipping Halliwell had a cameo in SATC, I can't believe they wouldn't have at least asked Barbra!

I think Barbra has one of the most beautiful faces ever, but she has gone WILD with the fillers and Botox for years now and is almost unrecognisable 😔

Ridemeginger · 09/07/2023 14:37

I need brain bleach to forget Geri Halliwell, whose awful acting marred an otherwise fantastic episode. Carrie and Fox Mulder, Miranda and hot Dr Robert getting together, Samantha having an attack of the Madonnas pretending to be British, Charlotte and Anthony uncovering Marcus's murky past, and he and Stanny making up at the Prom. Carrie wore some absolutely gorgeous outfits the whole episode.

Netaporter · 09/07/2023 15:09

@Rotormotor I have some IRL parallels with Carrie’s storyline so I’m invested to see what happens too…;-)

GellerYeller · 09/07/2023 15:36

@Lottapianos She’s 80! Got herself a ‘touch of the Madonnas’! Or whatever they said about Samantha at Soho House! Although Babs resisted pressure early in her career and ‘kept my nose to spite my face’ 😂

I thought the scene between Carrie and Natasha in the first series of AJLT was one of the few excellent scenes. Natasha was just so gracious and dignified, despite being blistering angry. And Carrie redeemed herself, a little bit. Very well acted.

Needhelp101 · 09/07/2023 15:54

And oh God yes, Gerri was appalling bad!

That's a great episode.

Mirandas Brooklyn Brownstone must have at least four bedrooms no way would she be sleeping on the sofa. Gosh that house was a great investment but I cant see Steve buying near Scout he will have to live in the pub.

I think (weirdly) the bedroom situations are what irritate me this most. I can't get my head around the fact we're supposed to believe that Miranda lives in a 2 bed and has to sleep on a sofa. Harry and Charlotte could surely afford a 3 bed so why to Rock and lily share a room?

And then as for the ex sharing a bed with Miranda and che, I'm assuming because the IKEA sofa was broken. It's an IKEA sofa, whack a screw in the foot that's fallen off, take the other foot off so it's even, take the cushions off and sleep on the floor, get an airbed, get a hotel. ANYTHING but sleep with your ex wife and her new girlfriend. Hell it would probably have been less awkward for Lyle to go sleep on Steve's sofa!

Watching it now on your recommendation! Yes it is a very good one. David Duchovny does nowt for me at all but that's ok. Poor old Kim does brilliantly with the fake English accent scene 🤦🏻‍♂️ gosh that Dr Robert was just DREAMY 😍 and great outfits as always!

Lentilweaver · 09/07/2023 16:24

Did anyone watch SJP in "Divorce"? I quite liked her in that- it was a grown up, less flaky version of Carrie- but it got quite bleak so I stopped watching. Some nice clothes though.

EachandEveryone · 09/07/2023 16:27

It didnt really get that bleak😀😀 it finished very quickly though I was sad it ended.

no way is that brownstone a two bedroomed unless its actually a flat which is possible.

GellerYeller · 09/07/2023 16:38

@WhyDoesItAlways are the Yorke-Goldenblatts still in the apartment that Charlotte/Harry fought Trey and Bunny in her divorce? Did the nanny live in? It must have space in that case?

I watched it all and loved it. To me, it felt like the parallel life Carrie would have had if she's married an Aiden type.

I think it is, but I reckon it only had 2 bedrooms. Maybe the nanny wasn't living in. You do have to wonder where Harry's considerable salary must be going, not having a mortgage and all. I reckon they have a Hamptons house and probably other rental property in Manhattan. It's prime Park Avenue real estate, so they'd be mad not to be living in it.

Ridemeginger · 09/07/2023 17:29

We stayed in a Brooklyn Brownstone last summer, just in the basement flat. Even that was 2 bedroomed. The upstairs part looked huge. Even if they just have the top maisonette, I reckon it will be a 3 bed.

I think that episode is a great example of what was being discussed up thread - that SATC episodes had an over-reaching theme that tied all the stories together. In this one, it's a back to high school theme - high school boyfriend, the prom, Miranda feeling like a geek vying for a boy she likes with the cheerleader who is flirting with him, passing messages (the Marcus Honcho ad), being told off (Samantha by the Soho House waiter), and Charlotte reverting to a character out of Jackie magazine. I know I've said it before, but AJLT needs the narration and the theme to pull all the characters together.

GellerYeller · 09/07/2023 17:39

@ridemeginger thankyou. I remember her wearing the cream Valentino for baking and crying in the pantry, it must be quite a place. You’d definitely hold onto it wouldn’t you!

Ridemeginger · 09/07/2023 17:44

Ha ha! Carrie not bothered about Charlotte's obvious PND, but very concerned about the cream Valentino! I always wear my skin tight designer gear ,while my grubby progeny are getting cake mixture everywhere and the oven is on hot in a small space! But yes, that apartment is my dream!

anonacfr · 09/07/2023 18:50

I was always bothered about Charlotte not having family (aside from a very brief sighting of a brother). She'd strike me as the kind of woman to have overly involved posh parents, constantly pushing her to get married.
