Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite.

I am kind of interested in Carrie’s storyline so will watch to the end but I’m not sure why!

And yes, agree totally with the remarks on the repugnant Miranda/Che story line.

SammyScrounge · 06/07/2023 22:01

It's so awful. It' s ghastly. They discussed jizz over brunch. Che leapt on Mianda's bones, in front of visitors, and retired to the bathroom with her and later bragged about pegging and threesomes. No wonder Carrie wondered what she was doing in that room.
Now it's a threesome. Cringe. Now a lady who was married to a gay man.

The show is going to run out of trendy sex events and combinations soon. What will be left when they've been there, done it and got the tee shirt?

Enjoyed Bitsy in this episode.
"I'm sorry, I always thought Bobby was gay."
"Oh, he was, of course. That's why he tried so hard." 😁

This was too on the nose for me, it should have been left as it was.

Bitsy as his widow in AJLT is a great throwback character though.

Yes, you could be right. But very much enjoying Bitsy being back now and again.

They should bring back some more of the old characters. Remember Skipper, who was Carrie's really good friend in season one and then got jettisoned, never to return? 😂

GellerYeller · 06/07/2023 22:40

Didn’t Skipper dump Miranda while still inside her?

Netaporter · 06/07/2023 22:44

@Eccle80 you are correct. David Eigenberg was diagnosed with hearing loss a few years ago. The hearing aids were visible in the therapist office scenes this week.

I thought he dumped the woman he was seeing because while he was having sex with her he heard an answer phone message from Miranda wanting to meet up.

Bluekangaroo123 · 06/07/2023 22:48

I really enjoyed episode 4! Loved Enid & Bitsy. Enjoyed the brunch scene. Not keen on Che’s creepy ex husband. So has Che moved to NY? Was that even discussed?

GellerYeller · 06/07/2023 22:53

@Bluekangaroo123 yes you’re right, thankyou!

GellerYeller · 06/07/2023 22:58

I have a question- if Carrie has such ‘deep pockets’ why did she need Enid to promote her book? I know she needs it to succeed but I can’t believe she can consider a $100k investment for all of 30 seconds!

Indigodreaming · 06/07/2023 23:03

Skipper was so fucking wet

I dont remember a tricorn hat thoig

Indigodreaming · 06/07/2023 23:07

This hat?

Did anyone else pick up vibes in ep 4, from the Edith and Carrie moment in SATC when Carrie set up Edith with that older man, who she brings to the party (they get together and attend the funeral…same episode where Miranda questions Carrie about going to Paris with the Russian😏…)In AJLT Carrie slips up by saying she wouldn’t date someone as old as that (Edith’s current) and the reaction from Edith is like that SATC episode.

(Also, I know the sign off wouldn’t have worked without the Paypal reference for pay pals, but transferring 100k just like that via PayPal for an investment?😂
Miranda 1.0 as a smart, brilliant lawyer would have at least encouraged Carrie to check the small print first!)

NeedToThinkOfOne · 06/07/2023 23:23

Obviously I meant Enid 🤪

stringbean · 06/07/2023 23:23

God, that was 40 mins of my life I won't get back. The measure of SATC for me was that I would happily watch episodes again - even now, years later I watch them and laugh and identified with so much of it. But I cannot imagine watching any of the AJLT episodes again - there is just nothing that draws me in and I didn't laugh once in this episode. Miranda and Charlotte's storylines are just dire. It's sad to watch a much-loved series and characters lower themselves to this extent - were they all really that desperate for the money that they didn't stop to consider if what they were signing up for was any good? Because it really isn't. It's awful.

anonacfr · 07/07/2023 00:33

I just don't get how all these mature Manhattan women act like teenagers from 80s magazine problem pages.

Sisternyc · 07/07/2023 01:39

Do you think Carrie will end up with the guy from Titanic?

I know the characters are all different people now but surely the whole 6 seasons and two films would be pointless if Aidan was her person?

I found Aidan controlling how he pressured her to give up smoking when they literally just met and condescending. I dislike smoking but would never start making demands on people I’ve only just started dating.

I bet Kim Cattrall will smash it and be the only one that can still act, Charlotte is shocking. To be fair Bitsy appears to remember how to play her character.

rinseandrepeat1 · 07/07/2023 07:34

The sex scenes are just too try-hard and unbeieveable. 'Jizz on my tits' from someone so uptight she keeps her bra on? Come on!

But to be fair - Harry did say 'but it's not even my birthday!' So I think it was a more 'in the moment' decision.

On another note, I am really starting to like LTW! I think her and Seema are quite good fits for the show.. but not sure about Nya yet 🤔

One other bit I really liked was when Enid tried to avoid Carrie... that was so true to the original series when it was always super awkward between them!

🤣

That's fairly accurate. You'd have thought they might have grown out of it by now.

I remember Carrie fretting for a whole episode about breaking wind (in some way) in front of Big.

rinseandrepeat1 · 07/07/2023 07:57

Ok so I was just rewatching the last episode and this may be a super lame thing to notice! But did anybody else notice that the house Carrie went to is MIRANDA PREISTLY'S house from the Devil Wears Prada?

The first two pics are Miranda's house.

🤣 @Sisternyc Mr Andrews. I looked him up on Wikipedia before the episode had even finished - possibly during the Che’s random homecoming from LA or the nauseating threesome with the IKEA banter they wrongly assumed would lighten the scenes - sticking to the episode topic of older men, he’s 74 IRL. I’m assuming Charlotte will do a u-turn on working for him?

Ridemeginger · 07/07/2023 08:06

There’s a trailer with Charlotte yelling at Harry and the kids that she used to have a life before them. I think she will take the job - she would be mad not to.

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 07/07/2023 08:08

Oh, Miranda.

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 07/07/2023 08:14

My thoughts.

No WAY would LTW not have chased RSVPs for an event like that. Or left it to her husband to sort. Even if she had, she would have mentioned it to far more people than just Charlotte. That was just nonsensical.

I just need Che to go away. Enough.

Carrie and Enid was good in dynamics (love the house spot!) and Bitsy and the cock made me snort a bit.

Charlotte and Harry did feel like old SATC. And the spunk chat did too. I can imagine Charlotte seeing it as a validation of her skills at the end of sex and Miranda not really caring. But I do think the levering in if ‘I never liked sperm - I should have realised I was gay’ was a bit irritating because we WATCHED Miranda enjoying a lot of good sex with men that she fancied. Surely, as a PP says, she could be bi/pansexual and like it all?

Wanderingowl · 07/07/2023 08:31

I know Brady is a spoiled brat but WTF is with Steve and Miranda not telling him that they are divorcing? He's sitting in family therapy begging them to tell him what is going on and neither of them is honest with him. That's actually emotional abuse. Whatever else we think about Che and Miranda, from Miranda's perspective she's in a new serious relationship. But she hasn't told her child and gaslights him when he pleads with her to tell him the truth because the uncertainty is causing him stress. Add to that, Che is reasonably famous and Miranda is not discreet. Brady could easily find out about their relationship on the internet. That's a fucking horrible lack of consideration for your kid.

Steve isn't off the hook with that either. Brady is old enough for Steve to tell him Miranda has met someone else and wants a divorce. And that the someone else is not a man. Brady has a right to know that much.
