Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite.

I am kind of interested in Carrie’s storyline so will watch to the end but I’m not sure why!

I agree, @stringbean Do you remember the Carrie's birthday episode, when nobody turns up to the restaurant - for various good-ish reasons - but can't get in touch with her. When she gets home, there's a message from Miranda yelling, "Get a cell phone!". Miranda worked in law firms where she'd have needed to be adept with technology. She loved her TiVo! In contrast, Carrie was resistant to technology, didn't back up her laptop, didn't want a cell phone, and needed Louise from St Louis to sort out her emails. The writers have clearly forgotten how fond Miranda was of her gadgets. It's just lazy writing. The whole set up of her phone going off during Che's filming (because she told Brady to phone her back once back at the hostel, and she doesn't know how to turn off the ringer or what?) was so insultingly lazy and trite. And as pp said, wouldn't the GF of the main star have been back stage rather than queuing up to be in the audience?

Do you remember when Carrie got an instant message on AOL Messenger and hid under the desk in case the person on the other end could see her??

Now Miranda appears to have become more inept than that. It makes no sense.

I do understand that menopause can make women more anxious than they used to be, and a bit lost. It happened to me, although HRT has hugely helped with it. But it doesn’t usually involve a complete personality transplant. I can buy the sexual awakening as a principle (even if Che is awful to me as a viewer) but the awful clinginess/naivety/stupidity stuff is selling the character of Miranda totally short. She used to be my favourite so I feel betrayed by this bullshit!

To prove my forgetfulness point I managed to forget why I started posting in the first place.

I once went to the taping of a massively popular TV show (check it out on Netflix now) and managed to score VIP tickets. Bearing in mind this was possibly the most famous show in the world at the time, the demand was huge. We got let into the studio ahead of everyone else in line and the front row was already full, presumably of the real VIPs. Given that this is the pilot of a show starring an aged Tony Danza and a niche stand up, the chances of the lead actor’s partner standing outside in a queue are below zero.

Charlotte always had a very expressive face and eyes in particular. Now her eyes move but her face doesn't - I think that's what looks so odd.

Miranda's stuttering when talking to Che does my head in. She turns into an absolute bumbling idiot around them.
As much as I dislike Che (and I really, really do) - its more puzzling what Che could possibly see in Miranda as she exists right now.

I very much get Carrie/Petrovsky vibes from the whole thing (Miranda giving up her life and being the travelling partner/left to own devices while Che goes to work on something that is SO important and dominates everything) but from what I have watched so far I don't think the writing is clever enough to be intentionally portraying this.

I don't understand why Cynthia Nixon would want this to be the portrayal of a relationship with a non-binary person. I hope Miranda's real awakening is finding herself.

The comment here about the poster who went to a taping? I think they mean Friends. Phoebe thinks the song is ‘hold me close Tony Danza’ instead of Tiny Dancer, but he isn’t in it. The poster is referring to the ‘pilot’ in AJLT they’re not referring to Friends with Tony Danza.

As in the pilot Che is filming with Tony in AJLT, hope that makes sense

I was basically saying that if the cast of a wildly popular show got their own VIP guests in first, then there was no chance that Miranda would have had to queue to get into Che’s random pilot with no one more famous in it than Tony Danza.

Well Che is quite hot - or would be, if the character was allowed to be a cool confident butch rather than a boring narcissistic enby.
petrovsky was definitely sexy albeit selfish. You can see how Carrie was drawn in. Che has looks but the personality is a total turn off.
