Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite.

I am kind of interested in Carrie’s storyline so will watch to the end but I’m not sure why!

@Lentilweaver I agree with you it made me cringe. Maybe it was the way it was put together or the whole vibe of them just over egging it..but that doesn't mean I believe women ( of their age ..and mine!) have to be shown in knackered old pyjamas. I think a balanced portrayal would be great. But balance is not a word I'd associate with AJLT!!

Does SJP really live that close to Carrie's apartment? That must be a bloody nightmare with SATC walking tours going by.

I don't know a single woman my age (40s) who would routinely wear a satin nightdress. But we are not very rich Americans. It just jarred with me as I thought it did all look naff, like there's only one way to be sexy, and that's to wear an identikit bit of clothing.

The story lines are just so dull. Can't they come up with something more exciting than beach cleans, and a designer kids dress being sold to a 2nd hand shop?

To clarify - for me, the rage about the egg poaching has nothing to do with her still not being able to cook. I barely cook myself! The issue was the infantile hoopla around it and the pathetic snippet of storyline/dialogue that revolved around it.

I would be totally cool with her being 50-odd and still unable to cook!

I have seen some of the filming that happened up town and there’s quite often crowds!

I assumed it would be 20 something kids who had no clue. Even worse that it’s written by 50 year old women. There feels a huge lack of connection and story line and CNs personal agenda is grim. I really liked Sara as Callie in Greys Anatomy but cannot bear her as Che. She’s utterly awful.

I find the Che and Miranda storyline absolutely revolting. There. I've said it.

If it was a one off affair thing that spanned a couple of episodes then fair enough

Have just started watchig Kim Cattrall's new series Glamorous on Netflix. It's nonense, but enjoyable nonsense. A bit like Ugly Betty. Though I am already annoyed by the main character, someone called Miss Benny.

I was glad to see the Westwood wedding dress again though. That scene in the first movie was one of my favourite SATC moments. The raw emotion and the display of pure friendship from the others was excellent, IMO.

I think the boring pouting buttoned up old Carrie in AJLT is closer to SJP in real life than the funny irreverent Carrie of the series (NOT THE FILMS)
not sure why I think that, maybe because SJP is exec, because Carrie is rich and dull now whereas Carrie of old had some bum and some edge (not much but much grungier than Charlotte for example) now they are just rich women living rich lives and looking self conscious doing so. They have objectified themselves so much even poachin eggs is a ‘scene’ with outfits. Nah. I mean I’ll watch it… but it’s objectively awful 🤣

Anthony STILL has all the best lines 😁 he's a joy. The bit where he does, then doesn't, then does go to the Met Ball was pretty funny. Harry had a few too. "I should have opened that second bottle of wine" at Lily's piano recital.

MJT (?) and husband add actually nothing to this show. So dull.

I have rewatched season 1 over the past week and it's a bit better than I remember overall.

Obviously Che and Miranda are awful but actually it's not necessarily Che I hate, it is just Miranda who is so desperate, mean and selfish. Che is one note yes but dull rather than offensive like Miranda.

I didn't mind the Rock story on rewatch. Or LTW and Seema. Carrie is ok.

Basically I would find myself quite enjoying it then would come a bit of clunky performative virtue signalling or archly artificial cool girl dialogue then it would back to ok again.

Currently watching the new episode and I haven’t gotten irritated yet!

I'm going to keep watching. I like the production values, music, outfits etc, and I want to see whether Miranda and Che will actually be given a narrative arc, or if their whole storyline is only about celebrating their relationship. Plus, good-looking men.
