Also Lady C is very wealthy herself - why would Peter's friend not pitch to her
I don't think Caroline is wealthy in the way the sibs are wealthy, esp since remarrying and losing some of her settlement. She's also extremely astute and knows that Peter and his mates are a bunch of chancers - no way she's going to risk her own capital on this latest wheeze. Whereas almost whatever sum he wanted from the sibs would be pocket change to them.

No, no definitely not. Roman is talking about Kendall's children. Not Logan's children. The confusion may be because Roman says he is quoting Logan, "Dad's view was: yours weren't real. Just not real .. real. That's what Dad said ... They are a pair of randos. One is a buy-in, the other one is half Rava and half some filing cabinet guy, right?"

Thanks for clarifying!! 👍🏻

I was really happy with the ending. But (don't come at me) a little bit Meh about the final episode.
I found I was bored in parts. Unlike some I didn't like the Logan home video. At this stage I just wanted it all to move along!
Also re the kids at the Barbados house.
Also Lady C is very wealthy herself - why would Peter's friend not pitch to her. Why just the kids?
Maybe when I go for my second viewing I can enjoy it more. I was v satisfied with the ending, really liked Greg playing both sides as usual and getting caught and Tom coming out on top and the change in dynamic now between him and Shiv.

...and yet I felt the opposite! There wasn't a single scene or moment that I felt wasn't necessary or that wasn't loaded in some way. I found myself holding my breath through much of it; all of which I let out in a gasp when Greg slapped Tom back!

Keroppi · 30/05/2023 18:16

One of my favourite scenes was Kendall re-splitting open Roman's head wound in the hug. That was insanity - he looked at Roman's wound and adjusted Roman so he was pressing it into his shoulder. Just sooo Logan of him but also "kind" - he knew Roman liked/craved it and shows how the Roy's weaponise affection.

Yes!

Sheer brilliance. A Shakespearean epic - so sad it’s all over now! Shiv’s scheming amounted to nothing as she was shafted in her plans to become CEO by Mattson’s cardigan & her pain sponge husband. Kendall - so near & yet so far, shafted by Shiv with the deciding vote. Roman - still mentally unraveling & his stitches coming undone (literally) in Kendall’s bear hugs / head locks.
More backstabbing than at Caesar’s assassination, and recurrent themes beautifully intertwined (Kendall & his dark association with water). What a finale…loved it!

slamfightbrightlight · 30/05/2023 19:42

Anyone spent the day fretting about how they are all getting on? 😂

I said to DH today as an actor it will be so hard to find parts as well written as this now it’s over - everything pitched to you afterwards must pale into insignificance

tribpot · 30/05/2023 19:47

Jeremy Strong is off to do some Ibsen, and I can see a few of them going back to the theatre for the quality of the writing and possibly the greater variety of parts being offered. (The lovely article with the actor who plays Frank linked above also says he's planning to go back to the theatre).

WTF does Jesse Armstrong do after this? How do you avoid those comparisons? He should have volunteered to write the Barbie movie just to have something utterly different creatively!

...the one where Barbie accidentally shoots a waiter while cheating on Ken with the head of Mattel while surreptitiously screwing Sindy out of her fortune...

tribpot · 30/05/2023 19:54

I was thinking that as Barbie excels in everything, she would end up as head of the new Gojo/Waystar and put a stop to all the right wing rhetoric. Kendall and Ken would go roller blading together in Central Park and then Barbie, Shiv, Gerri and Karolina would go out for cocktails. Midwife Barbie will later expertly deliver Shiv's baby.

ValBiro · 30/05/2023 20:30

The bit where Kendall floats out on the water on the dark in Barbados echoed the lilo moment of an earlier series

And then when Shiv and Roman swim over to 'give' him the crown, you see Kendall properly smile for the first time ever - in a rare moment of joy and vulnerability for the 3 sibs, unclothed and in deep dark water.

slamfightbrightlight · 30/05/2023 21:02

I did have an “oh god is Ken going to drown” moment when he swam off

Same! And at the end I was really thinking he'd kill himself. So tense

tribpot · 30/05/2023 22:11

I've just listened to the podcast with Mark Mylod and that was definitely where they were going in the final scene. Is Kendall going to jump. Although he hasn't by the time we fade to black, that is still a possibility.

MustardGreenAndPlum · 30/05/2023 23:21

I think that is the most sublime piece of scriptwriting, directing and acting: we were all thinking the same thing when no words were uttered.

MustardGreenAndPlum · 30/05/2023 23:26

On a more cheery note, I have put a lot of thought into this:

Brian Cox: continues normal acting career
Matthew Macfadyen: ditto
Sarah Snook: back to the theatre as Lady Macbeth
Kieran Culkin: does a Hallmark Rom Com where he is a local farmer and the career daughter of the farmer next door comes home to buy up Kieran’s farm and he shows her the error of her ways whilst wearing a lot of plaid.
Jeremy Strong: bulks up and appears in a Marvel franchise as a superhero
Nicholas Braun: appears in a Marvel franchise as an absolute evil bastard.

Spamham · 30/05/2023 23:56

I’d like to see Mafadyen & Braun in an Emperor Nero & Sporus enactment, ha ha

So, has anyone found another series to fill the void? I’m coming down Tommy Succession high with Love Is Blind 🤦🏼‍♀️

😂

Completely different but Beef on Netflix is a good watch.

Nesbi · 31/05/2023 07:08

I think Greg’s immediate future was looking pretty grim at the end - mats son hated him and publicly called him Judas, and Tom was clearly going to use him as a pain sponge of his own!

what happened to the Logan kids buying the Pierce media empire though? We’re they still going to have to work together as rivals to Waystar Gojo?

Just started watching Barry last night. It's very different but really good so far.

The Night Of on Now TV is brilliant. I'm two episodes in and it's superb. Completely different subject-matter though.

Of those series I have already seen,

Happy Valley
Big Little Lies (with Mattson 😀)
Ozark (the first two seasons in particular)

tribpot · 31/05/2023 07:51

Yes, technically that deal is still on, as it was based on the sale of Waystar. However, it was partly contingent on Shiv divorcing Tom, so I think the deal will be allowed to fall apart. I can't see Nan Pierce wanting to sell to Roman after he basically appointed Mencken to the presidency (or not ... I hope that the call gets overturned).

JaneFondue · 31/05/2023 07:53

I really recommend Ozark if you are looking for a dark series with incredible acting and strong female characters. V stressful though.

Barry just gets better and better and just like with Succession, Bill Hader wraps it all up in 4 series.
