When we were kids we used to have slices of McVities Jamaican Ginger Cake as a pudding with custard. Love it. Don't want a sugar-free version.

I don't really mind John's sugar-free-ness; it's the not making a spicy curry because his kids wouldn't like a spicy curry that made no kind of sense to me. Make the kind of curry that would win the round on Masterchef!

I'm now thinking about Cadbury's Old Jamaica chocolate bars with the rum and raisins. Back when Cadbury's chocolate was good.

In the 70s my mum used to slice a Jamaica Ginger Cake in three along the length of it and fill the layers with orange butter cream. It was lovely.

It actually pisses me off because you rarely see anything about T1 on telly and it's making this false narrative that diabetics can't literally eat a grain of sugar. My daughter carries around jelly babies for hypos and so do most diabetic children! Sorry, I told you I was grumpy tonight....
