New 5 part medical drama

Dr Lucinda Edwards (Niamh Algar) is a smart, battle-hardened doctor, but we meet her on a nightmare shift that ends in the death of an opioid overdose victim, Edith Owusu.

Despite the support of her medical supervisor, Dr Leo Harris (James Purefoy), Edith’s grieving father (Brian Bovell), demands an inquiry into Lucinda’s actions on the fateful night.

Leading the medical investigation are Dr Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and Lucinda’s former colleague, Dr George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé). While George feels this was an unavoidable tragedy, Norma is suspicious of Lucinda’s behaviour and decisions in the lead up to the patient’s death.

As the pressure of the investigation intensifies, Lucinda’s relationship with husband Tom (Lorne MacFadyen) starts to fracture, and her confident professional exterior begins to crack. Is Lucinda hiding something?

Episode 1
Dr Lucinda Edwards is a smart, experienced A&E doctor, in the midst of a nightmare shift. She has a gunshot victim and an opioid overdose patient who both need a bed in resus, but there’s only room for one of them.

When one of the patients dies, Lucinda realises her troubles have only just begun.
Dr Norma Callahan and Dr George Adjei are investigators from the Medical Investigation Unit, tasked with assessing whether Lucinda is fit to practise medicine.

Feeling the pressure of their close scrutiny, Lucinda is desperate to prove that she can be a competent doctor.

all will be on ITVX - rolls eyes - so any bingers - shush !!!

I don’t know but maybe an OCG? It is very line of duty.

burnoutbabe · 30/04/2023 22:50

Yes why was she shocked by the voicemail from "js"

Is that someone she had seen before? (I assume it was on the phone from the run over doctor, it wasn't clear if she hid it (I assume in the possessions of the person she was operating on, or did she operate on the doctor? Were there 2 casualties from the hit and run??

Mossstitch · 30/04/2023 22:51

I missed a bit at the end and came on here hoping for an explanation of the voicemail she was listening to at the end🤔🙏I'd watch it again but ITVx doesn't seem to like my TV

Clawdy · 30/04/2023 22:59

Niamh Algar, who plays Lucinda, looks like Katherine Kelly. They could be sisters! (Yes, I know they're not!)

Rummikub · 01/05/2023 00:05

Oh so the run over doctor didn’t die when they had that tussle?

O thought it was the content if the voicemail rather than who was the issue.

daffodilandtulip · 01/05/2023 09:02

I find it interesting that the stress of working so closely with covid, and the decisions people had to make in the early days, is creeping into these dramas now.

CrapBucket · 01/05/2023 10:17

I fell asleep and can’t rewatch as itv x is the crappest TV app and hates me. Can anyone please explain what the voicemail that’s being mentioned was? Totally missed that.

sashagabadon · 01/05/2023 11:37

My theory is the young female junior doctor is a baddie ( like the female “reliable” PC in LoD that turned out to be working for the OCG)
the Irish doctor is like Lindsay Denton, keeping us guessing as to baddie or not , will meet sticky end.
the two medical malpractice people are Steve and Kate.
don’t think we’ve met the Ted Hastings character yet , maybe next week.
we just need a “ caddie” character too, maybe the young male junior doctor?

The doctor got hold of run over doctor’s phone. She saw lots of messages about drugs, wanting them and one about them not working. She then listened to a voicemail; which said something about dealing with her and sorting her out.

we don’t know who the message is from but she threw down the phone in shock.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2023 13:39

Oh. I enjoyed that

So the plot thickens

Rob isn't a doctor treating his own patients

He's in a drugs clinic but not him. It's his wife Eva behind it all

Roses phone is all initials

Eo saying didn't feel well. Drugs not right

Js - assume that's the initials of the the doctor jubair singh

Think she spoke to outside his room.

She deleted her voicemail - Le

And knows they they are into her and she needs to be taken care of

So all very complicated but clever

Has anyone else noticed that the dodgy sounding clinic that she looked up after the young man with the overdose, (tipped off by his mother), one of the photos of the medical staff named is the wife of the run over doctor!!

purpleme12 · 01/05/2023 13:44

Oh, no, I didn't notice that?

butterpuffed · 01/05/2023 14:30

Yes, it was Rob's wife .

Isn't Jubair Singh the man Lucinda met at the Awards Ceremony who was next to the woman she had a chat with ?

She only thinks of herself , shoved her Jr Doctor, shoved Rob so hard he went into the path of a car and on the verge of dying . The next thing , she's in an office complaining that she's not being made a consultant .

I didn't understand the voicemail message either .

Ah possibly. Knew had heard
His name

So worked out his initials was his name and who left the voice message and Lucinda recognised his voice
