An unmarried, middle-aged editor named Susan Ryeland receives from her superior the handwritten manuscript of the latest projected novel of the best-selling writer Alan Conway, but notices that the final chapter is missing.

Shortly afterwards, she learns that Alan Conway has died in an apparent suicide by falling off the tower of his mansion.

A suicide note in Conway's own handwriting is delivered to her office.

However, she has nagging doubts about the reality of the events, and decides to investigate Conway's death in order to know the truth, and to find where the last chapter of the manuscript went.

She always looks terrific doesn't she. Thanks for that @AFlockOfTigers
I don't know whether they get to keep wardrobe items as in gratis, or get the option to purchase for a fraction of their retail cost. Although either way, it's a win win situation when it's well chosen, top quality designer stuff and you like it.

I've just seen her in Citadel. Quite a shock to see her in a role against type.

It's 9.15pm for episode 5 tonight.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/04/2023 20:40

I prob won't see this till tomorrow so will avoid thread at 9

I think everyone has avoided the thread 🤣!

I watched but will check in tomorrow.

SleazyLizzard · 30/04/2023 02:35

No spoilers
from me, I could onLy manage half an episode as I found it incredibly dull and slow moving.

longtompot · 30/04/2023 09:48

It wasn't as exciting as the previous weeks and left us feeling a bit meh at the end. Hope next weeks is a good ending.

I was looking at the book and see it's part of a trilogy, but it only seems Susan is in the Magpie Murders and the one before and after are different main characters. Has anyone read them and are they linked at all, or are they a trilogy in the sense they are a similar style?

martinisforeveryone · 30/04/2023 10:32

I didn't watch last night as I got involved in Twelve Men and it overran the start. Think I'm going to skip this episode for now and watch it as a double bill with the finale.

Can't help about the books I'm afraid.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/04/2023 11:57

Well it wasn't the Greek

So who was it then

Who was left

The Sister

OP posts:
butterpuffed · 30/04/2023 15:54

I thought this ep was far more interesting , liked that the majority of it was about what Pund was doing . They should make a drama about him as the lead !

Still no idea who the murderer is....

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/04/2023 17:21

Not many left

Sister who killed the disproving mum

Brent caretaker tho he did find the treasure rather than throw it

Neighbour who wanted the house

Gay lover

Ex wife /son

OP posts:
bizzey · 30/04/2023 17:32

My twist is that it is the son in both stories !
Which I know would be Impossible 🤣🤣.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/04/2023 22:34

Why impossible

Son didn't like dad being gay

Maybe he thought would get some money in will

Son of other, well sister has admitted fk killing her

Joining thread as have been watching on catch up and one episode left!

Just taken a look at clothes on Temperley website and decided not really practical enough for me and a bit out of my price range .

The boyfriend seems the obvious candidate and is a nasty piece of work. No idea in the novel.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2023 21:58

@tourdefrance her bf

Or the gay lover

It's not the Greek bf

OP posts:
tourdefrance · 01/05/2023 22:28

Yes I meant Alan's boyfriend, who he appears to send packing in episode 1.
Not Andreas.

Anyone watching it live tonight?

I am here !!

bizzey · 06/05/2023 21:32

Ohh no I am not 😂😂😂😂!!

I thought it started at 9.30 !

Was watching bbc2 waiting to turn over as I am recording casualty ...and it has already started 😂.

I will watch my recording later .

martinisforeveryone · 07/05/2023 13:25

I've caught up with this week's Race Across the World, but still have Malpractice, Blue Lights and two episodes of Magpie Murders to watch, so I'm keeping a low profile. I just hope I can remember where I'm up to with them.

I've been MIA and when I have been around, totally hooked on The Twelve on ITVX.

Have you got anything else coming up for us @Blondeshavemorefun ? We've been spoilt for choice lately.

SoupDragon · 07/05/2023 13:28

I don't know how I feel about the ending 🤔

bizzey · 07/05/2023 13:57

SoupDragon ...i felt the same .

Can't explain it ...would I was underwhelmed .

bizzey · 07/05/2023 13:58

I spotted a program starting next week which I have put on recording list .
£10 Poms
..I think .
Looks promising

SoupDragon · 07/05/2023 14:11

I liked it, it worked, I hadn't guessed it... but... but... I don't know.

I saw the £10 Poms trailer and thought it looked interesting too

duc748 · 07/05/2023 14:15

I liked it, and I thought the ending tied it all up quite nicely.
