6 part drama starts Friday nights

The drama introduces plain speaking, no nonsense DI Colette Cunningham, whose fearless approach to policing has earned her the respect of her Merseyside Police Serious Crime Squad colleagues.

Career driven and dedicated, Colette is unflappable and an absolute force of nature. Until she takes a call from Garda Sergeant Luke Byrne in Dublin.
The body of a young woman has been found and Colette is listed as the next of kin.

The name of the victim means nothing to Colette so she continues to efficiently go about her day job.

Persisting with his enquiry, the young officer calls again and begins to describe the young woman rendering Colette speechless.
She takes the next ferry to Dublin to identify the body of her missing daughter, Kate.

She’s experienced this exact situation a million times, but never from this side.
Kate left home 20 years ago aged 16, and clearly didn’t want to be found.Always a police woman and with 30 years of experience kicking in, Colette has some searching
questions.
But is she prepared for what she finds?

Acclaimed actress Paula Malcomson (The Hunger Games trilogy, Ray Donovan, Deadwood) will take the lead role in Redemption, a six part drama jointly commissioned by ITV and Virgin Media Television, Ireland in association with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.

I was jogging along with it, something to follow. I managed to suspend disbelief for the more improbable elements, but I really think it's outgrown its strength. Could've been a four partner.

butterpuffed · 15/04/2023 12:55

I agree , it's gone on too long , but want to see how it ends .

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/04/2023 17:34

It was very unlikely she would arrange to meet the villain without sorting out backup, but I did like the ending.

butterpuffed · 22/04/2023 08:22

She would never have been allowed to take Ross into an interview room being so personally involved, her junior colleague would have told someone higher beforehand.

The whole episode was all so unbelievable , a disappointing ending .

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/04/2023 12:42

Agree she wouldn't have been allowed anywhere near the interview

But otherwise all neatly tied up

Did she set off the car alarm from her car? To make him turn and grab her gun

Glad dad didn't get the kids

And she choose Collette as that's what mum wanted

Plus she did save her life

A nice cosy ending, if you suspend belief for some of it. But that's what dramas are for.
