Who will go with them? Is there time for new bombshells? 12 days to go. Bring it.

The only thing with Tom and samie is that he only ever compliments her looks, and he seemed to have a better friendship connection with Claudia.

autienotnaughty · 03/03/2023 14:29

@Chasedbythechaser I agree . It was much better in the early years when nobody knew what to expect. It's very contrived now. Especially when they took all the fun out and stored it up for unseen bits.

CellophaneFlower · 03/03/2023 14:51

They need to bring in something new, like the bedsit in big brother where there's a fake eviction. It will only work for 1 or 2 series though, then they'll all expect it. It's hard to keep shows like this fresh. I'm a celeb has been boring for years too, made worse by the fact the people they pick are rarely scared of anything.

Boulshired · 03/03/2023 14:52

I do have some (small) sympathy for Shaq, his screen time does seem to be when he’s angry or upset.

I think so too. I think he actually really liked Claudia in a romantic way

First look.. hmm tonight is going to be interesting

Hopefully!

Completely agree with all the new proposals posters above have been posting. And most importantly, LET THE PUBLIC DECIDE!!! This season there have been almost no public votes and when we have public votes, they are always manipulated

See I've also suggested radical changes, but I also think this is where shows jump the shark. The more interventions BB made the less people liked it and to an extent its happening on LI but that's due to producers manufacturing what they think audiences want to see

Mouldyfoodhelp · 03/03/2023 15:43

Just like BB the producers should go back to its origins which is what the audiences loved in the first place.

Series 1 did not even have a fire pit and series 2 had a better pool and natural feel bedroom /bathroom.

Tbf I'm relatively new to LI only saw this and the summer one in its entirety and saw most of the Dani Dyer one but just assumed people loved the early seasons for it to grow to what it became.

Chasedbythechaser · 03/03/2023 16:39

From
girst look, it doesn’t look like Tanya won’t participate as much as it looks like Tanya refuses to acknowledge she is likely to be one of the top game players and refuses to be selected!

I don't think contestants should be sourced from Istagram. They are taking people who are tuned into what they think is the winning formula. It is like one big audition for brand deals when they leave. Auditions should be held for ordinary people. Not offspring of minor celebrities or people with a big Ista following. If they are truly concerned with MH, they need to both provide support before and after the show. I suspect they are more concerned with complaints to Ofcom than MH though as tonight's episode will show.

The production team manipulate and edit blatantly now as well. They are lazy. They follow the formula that worked five years ago and haven't brought anything new to the show. Its tired. Its dated. The contestants know the formula hence we see the discussions about being exclusive and declarations of love at certain stages.

They are getting ratings so won't leave a show that is bringing in advertising revenue but it more like hate watching for many people. They may say that all contestants will know the formula but this is true for many shows. The Traitors for example. It is down to the production team to vary things. Their tag line is 'You Decide' and they open the voting to the public and then blatantly disregard it and manipulate it so the couples they want to remain stay.

Production teams are supposed to be creative. The LI production team act like a group of teens on work experience. They have brought nothing new to the table at all.

100% agree especially about the contestant sourcing, producer manipulation and creativity. Series 2016 didn’t even have Casa Amor and yet was much more exciting with how they did dumpings from the island. Bombshell entries (e.g. Kady and Olivia locked up in the hideaway whilst new girls had dates). And better content as we saw so much more natural banter and conversations not just where’s your head at chats. Saw genuine friendships and knew who liked who, rather than forcing girls and boys to separate for morning catch up (absolute snooze fest)

Totally agree

I just watched yesterday's episode and I'm fuming on Tom's behalf! Shaq has disappointed me so much. What him and Will did is pure bully behaviour. It's normal for people to be annoyed of they've lost, especially if they witnessed cheating in the game. But it's unacceptable to continue asking someone to chill relentlessly just to provoke a reaction. The boy has shown great self control there, I would have handled them really differently after a bit. I used to love Shaq, not anymore!

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 03/03/2023 17:33

Someone mentioned on an earlier thread (apologies can't remember) that one of the good things about Big Brother in the early years is that they used to switch things up then not repeat them in future years.

It made it interesting because the contestants didn't know how to navigate them to win.

There was rich house/poor house, pretend evictions in the hideout where they watched everything going on etc.

It was fresh every year. Perhaps producers had more freedom.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 03/03/2023 17:37

Oh and having to vote for eviction in front of everyone meaning that when the person you voted for wasn't eliminated you had to still live with them going forward.

I'd love to see that on LI

FiloPasty · 03/03/2023 17:38

Shaq was a total arse last night.
I got v confused with threads.

UniCred1 · 03/03/2023 17:40

On another note, I used to supervise on Sports days when I was a teacher, and trust me the amount of times I've seen big, tall and mature Y11 boys and girls lose their minds and get upset when they lose because of cheating or lack of teamwork is astounding! They were generally well behaved and lovely but they are extremely competitive and want to win. And that's also a good quality we shouldn't disregard. They used to be fine and laugh about it the next day. The bullies on the other hand will celebrate and go on and on and on about those who lost in the corridors!

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 03/03/2023 17:40

@FiloPasty at least when they are voted out as a couple Tanya can blame Shaq and take no accountability for her own actions

This is exactly what’s going to happen.

Although I think families coming in this year could totally kick off!
I wouldn’t be happy at all if I was the parent of Shaq or Lana!

This reminds me of the very first big brother when I think Melanie overheard herself being nominated (not much soundproofing in original diary room!) and threw a massive strop and everybody else was too scared to nominate her. She was very much thought of as an Olivia at the time so the viewers were irate!

CarpyDiem · 03/03/2023 17:58

I have told DD that if she ever goes on LI, we will set up some code phrases so we can say what we really think without it being obvious.

Surely all the parents will be doing that?

RocketsMagnificent7 · 03/03/2023 19:02

Lampzade · 03/03/2023 09:14

Samie and Ron would have been a better match.

I couldn't disagree with this more! Samie is way too good for Ron. She is so far out of his league they're not even playing the same game.

I like her and Tom together. They seem quite natural.

Sounds smart but with editing you can't guarantee they'd be shown contextually, in order, or at all. So could cause more angst

But the Islanders are face to face in the Villa with their parents, aren't they? And so get a bit of conversation.

If so, our (totally hypothetical) code phrase/s don't need to be broadcast for our (totally hypothetical) future Islander to get the message. We'd just need to think of something not too obvious, that would pass as general chit chat
