Also the situation you describe isn't really a winning formula. Usually the winners of the show weren't underdogs at any time.

So, from the past couple of polls, the producers have seen how unpopular Liv is, despite their best efforts.
Then, "coincidentally" we suddenly see the big episode calling her out on her stirring (which was seemingly never a problem for any of them before) AND gave her a chance to clear the air with Jessie before leaving.
It's all so contrived, it's mental.

Agree

Yes, possibly their first coupling was unpopular/underdog, but individually popular (look at the polls like "who would you like to have brunch with") and then recoupled and in the top few.

I'm wondering if there will be couples that Olivia/Maxwell are told not to evict, because they are for example top 2 or 3 and they just can't go that far against what the public wants. But they get free pick of the other bottom couples and the less popular one or two of the top four.

Now, who have they had bust ups with?

Tanya/Shaq - no I don't think either of them have, but possibility of "so in love, better out and starting their real life story")
Ron/Lana - possibly enough antipathy towards Ron for his early game-playing, but not much evidence of recent stuff, plus they're prob a top two couple, so I think safe
Will/Jessie - well views were made pretty clear! But they're pretty consistently top couple and Will is often highest rated Islander and very popular. I can't shake the suspicion that Olivia was egged on to create a cliff-hanger and add drama to these evictions. So I don't think they'll choose them for game playing reasons
Tom/Samie - well, was Tom the one that Olivia really fancied all along? They've both given her a pretty wide berth (Samie stood up for Jessie, but not in a way that riled Olivia further). I suspect not, because if she does want him in RL, kicking him out isn't going to advance that aim
Claudia/Keanan - can't actually remember how that's been! Vulnerable because a friendship couple. Would be seen as a reasonable choice to go
Rosie/Casey - also a reasonable choice to go, because new, finding it problematic in the villa and better to go and enjoy the outside
Kai/Sanam - bete noir! Really out to get him and might just do it. Producers won't mind if they go because they're a low/middling popularity couple

Olivia pie'd Kai

Who did Maxwell pie?

I can't think of anyone he's had a bust up with, possibly because he's seemed so overshadowed!

i just can’t see the contents unless they get rid of a stable couple. Casey and Claudia have been annoying but that led to Jessie and Olivia fallout. They could do the Casey, Will and Tom friendship but it all seem pretty forced and can see it becoming tedious. Without Keenan they can’t do the Rosie, Casey triangle and without Claudia they can’t bring new bombshells as I can’t see Casey turning and Rosie hasn’t been there long enough to care.

In an ideal world, Olivia would get rid of Shaq/Tanya as they're totally boring now, but unfortunately it will be the predictable Claudia/Keanan exit and we will be left with boring couples only

I really want Shaq and Tanya to go after all their "journey" is complete!

I'd love this too!

XelaM · 02/03/2023 12:47

Just to add about Martin's assessment of the islanders - he said Ron was the biggest game player and Will/Jessie the most compatible, so he didn't think Will/Jessie were fake but thought Ron/Lana were (on Ron's part)

Boulshired · 02/03/2023 13:10

On a separate note the closure of instagram and love island fatigue has kept followers low. Especially for the ones who have left who usually use the time to promote themselves. Cynthia is on 6000, (a know a few people with this amount) despite having a strong story line and being reported in the press. I can see why they wanted no instagram but it is damaging to those who may have quit employment hoping they’d get work on the back of love island to recover loss earnings. Zara with all the love she received and been out weeks 109k. They are going to need cash to be able to promote themselves if the influencer lifestyle is what they want/entered for.

Roseroserosey · 02/03/2023 13:14

I do feel influencing in general is on a downward turn. Sure some of the bigger names, especially those who have branched out will continue to do okay, but it's so saturated now (especially when LI has 2 series in a year) and in general with the financial situation and stuff I just don't think any will have the same career opportunities as say MM did. I do think the stigma sticks as well, ekin su for example I just don't think she'll have a huge career in acting despite being well liked because she's been on LI.

Still also surprised though just how low the follower counts are, wow.

Rollergirl11 · 02/03/2023 13:18

Have they said this will be the last winter Love Island or did I just make that up?

Rollergirl11 · 02/03/2023 13:24

First Look is up. They are dumping one girl and one boy from the remaining vulnerable couples. Who was that again?

Boulshired · 02/03/2023 13:25

So it is the vulnerable couples from first look

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 02/03/2023 13:28

@Rollergirl11

Girls either Claudia, Rosie or Tanya

Boys either Kennan, Casey or Shaq

Olivia (face it not Maxwell having any say) won't choose Tanya and she seemed to like Rosie to I'm guessing Claudia

Boys not Shaq

Winterisalmostover · 02/03/2023 13:29

Claudia and Keenan are the obvious choices.

vjg13 · 02/03/2023 13:35

@Winterisalmostover I tend to agree but still hoping for Tanya and Shaq!

Twonewcats · 02/03/2023 13:36

Catching up with Tues night one.
The Hideaway malarkey is so cringe. The way that the girls are all amazingly sexy and lacy, and get presented to a guy, who's in......jeans or boxers. And they guy does that cartoony thing where their eyes pop out their heads.
Tom looked like it was all his Christmases at once, bless him.

That's the thing I always love about LI, that the handsome cocky boys always end up looking totally intimidated by the girls and like lovesick puppies 😆

XelaM · 02/03/2023 13:40

Winterisalmostover · 02/03/2023 13:29

Unfortunately this will be it, although so predictable and boring- just like the last recoupling

Icelolly999 · 02/03/2023 13:50

Boulshired · 01/03/2023 22:18

The manipulation of the votes is so annoying, bottom 4 was because they weren’t happy with the bottom three.

This ^^

I think they need to trust the public and go with who the public put at the bottom.

I presume Casey and Rosie were 2nd bottom and Tanya and Shaq were 3rd bottom with Claudia and Keenan above them all. The producers would think it would look bad if shaq and Tanya were lower so made it a bottom 4 instead of trusting the reasons why the public may have seen enough of Tanya and shaq and be fed up of them.

I presume Olivia will get to decide, as maxwell is scared of her, and I presume it will be between the bottom 3 and it will be Claudia and Keenan. I think Tanya and shaq are safe as they are popular with Olivia and maxwell.

I presume Olivia will have been told who to pick?

It is this level of interference from the producers which is ruining the show as everything feels staged and stilted this year.

I would hazard a guess that no one is really on there to find love as their main objective and everyone is after fame. That’s ok, but why do they make a big deal about people being fake or disingenuous when they are all playing the same game!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/03/2023 13:52

So am I getting this right, they aren't dumping a couple, they can choose one girl and one boy from those with the fewest votes?

If so I think Claudia and Casey may go.

Yes, I was wondering about them. But as the other couples are all fairly strong, so does the programme then stagnate?

The Tanya/Shaq "because they're journey is complete" remains a possibility. And leaves some non-stable couples, which might give a bit of life (esp if there's at least one more bombshell)

OTOH, I think there will be a vastly improved atmosphere generally in the villa, so perhaps we'll see some happiness and larking around

Are families going in?

Is the baby challenge happening? Don't really like that, other than seeing what names they choose! I don't think Tommy and Molly-Mae chose Bambi back then, did they?

Tubofroses · 02/03/2023 14:06

If claudia and casey went I reckon Rosie and keenan would give it a go, probably be more interesting than the predictable other options!

Icelolly999 · 02/03/2023 14:17

Who do you think the producers want to go?

It’s strange to ask the departing couple to choose, there must be a reason for that? What do you think that is?

They obviously didn’t want to ask the islanders in the top positions to choose as they would possibly have picked differently…..who do you think the top couples would have picked?

Personally I find it dull with all couples who get along….!

They want Claudia and Keanan out. I have no idea why, as it's so boring if only established couples are left with no possibility of drama whatsoever.

I think Rosie does secretly fancy Keanan and would have given him a chance if he were given a chance to stay, which would have been much more interesting than watching Casey lick her face for the next week and a half. 🤢

CarpyDiem · 02/03/2023 14:44

My guess is that one of them has been primed with a suitable set of possibles to choose between and can be relied not to go beyond them or that they have had chats with the Islanders beforehand about who each would evict, and therefore know already what the choice would be and are happy with that choice.

They obviously didn’t want to ask the islanders in the top positions to choose as they would possibly have picked differently…..who do you think the top couples would have picked?

Interesting question.

I think they'd keep Shaq because the boys like him, and that means they'd keep Tanya too as they wouldn't separate them.

Casey is a good friend too, but he's pissed them all off recently (they rallied round Claudia, but did her later outburst blow it?) and turning on Jessie has weakened his position enormously, especially as people seem to like Keanan. No-one is really friends with Rosie. So my guess is that they's evict Casey and Rosie, with regrets to him but best wishes for him and Rosie to go from strength to strength on the outside

Boulshired · 02/03/2023 15:02

If they wanted Claudia and Keenan I would think that the islanders would be more reliable than Olivia and Maxwell because they can do it with good justification. If they do want Ron and Lana then it would be better for Casey to go to break the Will, Casey and Tom friendship as Ron hasn’t really been in with the boys since Casey he now has become a voice of reason strangely enough.
