Ah I didn't see you post saying its Molly. I liked her as well. It does frustrate me how they run the show. Such a low budget and too little time. 3k isn't bad for a decent job in a home but not in a commercial space. The difference a doubled budget and an extra day in the final was very stark.

I remember some MNetters were furious when Cassie won Series 1 😆. IIRC, Cassie liked dark colours, metallics and taxidermy too, so maybe that’s Michelle’s personal taste?

I've just watched this on catch up and I think Monika deserved to win based purely on the final episode. I think her design was better than Jack's.

I still think Tom should have been in the final though!

I hope it was just the editing, but Monika seemed to get a dark-painted pub (apart from the ceiling), decide to paint the ceiling dark too and then spend her whole time copper-leafing the bar. Tom seemed busier designing and specifying stuff and he was just helping.

Wishing all the contestants success in their interior design careers or dabbling; their homes will look far nicer than mine!

Just caught up. I feel based on the final challenge, Monika was better but I don't think anyone created something truly memorable this year.

I think Monika's pub was mostly bare brick when she started. There was a lot of bare brick anyway!

When the owner said she wanted a statement bar for social media, I thought Monika would cover it with dead crows or something.

her distressed mirrors were what distressed mirrors are meant to look like, Temi should take note.

Sleuthing the pubs' instagrams, I can report that Jack's bar makeover was gone before the pub reopened!

And his armchairs with the lovely upholstery are featured in a picture of Monika's pub. The Fountain Head has a very cute post and story about their winning designer. Awww.

Slightly off topic but did anyone notice or does anyone know what Monika used to seal the copper leaf on the bar. I've got a side board that I've copper leafed but would like to seal it to stop damage.

completely agree - Monika's bar area was beautiful, with the wallpaper etc - she pretty much nailed what they had asked for. Whereas, although I absolutely loved Jack's design (the upholstery was stunning too), it was NOT AT ALL what the brief was. If you look at their posts, it's a rustic, pub grub type of place, and he pretty much turned it into a stylish restaurant, which is so way off what they asked for - and that is the biggest fail you can make as a designer, so he didn't deserve to win

Looks like it just changed some of the tables and added paintings to his yellow section

Also, I’ve been stalking Jack’s insta and it looks like he bought his house as a totally derelict chapel and did it up to what it is now….I’m impressed!

The bar has been changed in Jacks pub. It's had the gold bit bit taken off and the pipes have been removed, It looks like it has wood on it now.

I’m not surprised, when he put velvet on it I thought it was the most impractical option for a bar that would get filthy!

I was waiting to see what she'd do about sealing it but I didn't notice her doing anything at all. She seemed to be doing the copper leaf right up to the end.

Ironically, looking at earth and stars insta it seems as though the bar has now been clad in green panelling …
