I’ll start it then.

Will he return to heap more misery on Scarlet?

I thought that following the explosion someone would be trapped under rubble and have to be rescued and this would be insensitive to be shown at the moment.

There have been explosions on an almost daily basis in Ukraine for the last year though, with buildings being reduced to rubble and their occupants being killed, yet this storyline was still filmed and scheduled to be shown during that time.

That is what seems odd, why this plot at this time. No other series seems to be as concerned although they did swap a knife crime episode of Casualty towards the end of last year. Ambulance featured murder/suicide last week when two cases were in the public eye.

martinisforeveryone · 13/02/2023 17:46

Confess I hadn't particularly considered anything on Doctors being of such great magnitude, so there is that, but it's a fair point that the constant bombing and devastation in Ukraine has been news for a year in a couple of weeks.

Maybe there's been a change of personnel on the programme lately, or in daytime scheduling and they've got a different guidelines or just a differing approach?

TheFifthTellytubby · 14/02/2023 13:47

A few more details about missing episodes here - Radio Times is probably as near to the horse's mouth as we're likely to get!

martinisforeveryone · 14/02/2023 14:19

Thanks for that @TheFifthTellytubby there's actually another link on that page that says

The episodes will pick back up from Monday 20th February, which will air the episode originally intended for Wednesday 8th February. The rest of the week will follow suit with Tuesday 21st February's episode being the original Thursday 9th February instalment.
The episode that will air on Wednesday 22nd February will be the postponed one from Monday 13th February and similarly, the episode on Thursday 23rd February will be the originally slated one for Tuesday 14th February.
So, essentially, viewers won't notice a gap or lag in episodes at all with regular programming resuming to retain the order of the episodes.

Raahh · 14/02/2023 14:27

Thank you for that *Telly.

The random episode from last week will obviously just not matter anyway.

Next week is half term here, and, true to form- I have managed to fill the week with doctors/hospital/dentist and vet appointments (not that it matters when I take the dog to the vet, no-one's bothering about his attendance Grin). So I will quite possibly end up missing a lot of the episodes 'live' anyway!

Raahh · 14/02/2023 14:28

And when are we getting Fridays back?! even with the series of Father Brown- they could still air on Friday. They've managed it for years before!

KilledByWitches · 14/02/2023 14:30

Well this is no fun. I’m resorting to sorting out my sock drawer to fill the time 😂

martinisforeveryone · 14/02/2023 14:33

There's a lot of satisfaction in a nice, tidy sock drawer 😁

Has anyone stuck with Father Brown? I watched a couple of the new series but it just didn't have the old charm for me.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 14/02/2023 14:43

I miss Mrs McCarthy although I do love Brenda.

Raahh · 14/02/2023 14:45

Killed I have been watching 'Death in Paradise' from the start- because, like Doc Martn, i only started watching it in the last year.

I'm on series 5 Grin

martini I binged Father Brown when it was first released- I didnt mind it as much as I know some people have. It is missing some of the old cast, but it filled a gap. I'm not sure I will rewatch the episodes as much (or at all) as I have the old series (and I have watched them a lot.Grin).

I did post on the thread that Emer Kenny (Bunty) had a baby this week- which will explain her absence from the latest series. Maybe if there is another, she will return? (Fingers crossed- loved Bunty).

@Raahh standing joke in our family, my son in law never misses an episode, I've never actually seen it, or Father Brown for that matter. Have started watching Grantchester though for the shallow reason that I need more James Norton in my life 😂

I'd decided to take on the spare bedroom and sort through the drawers which I can barely close thanks to my Vinted addiction... I've done one set now (sock drawer included) and am saving the T Shirt drawer for tomorrow. Some tough decisions need to be made there 😂

martinisforeveryone · 14/02/2023 16:10

@Raahh thanks for that. I like Emer, she's talented. I watched the Karen Pirie series she adapted, executive produced and acted in. It wasn't one of my favourites, but she's doing well for herself. Had no idea she'd been in Eastenders as I've never watched it.

Bunty was a fun character with a fabulous wardrobe.

LIZS · 18/02/2023 16:23

Kirsty is in the Father Brown on alibi at the moment. No pseudo Brummie accent or whiny voice.

Raahh · 18/02/2023 17:07

LIZS was that the episode set in a circus?quite an early one? I vaguely remember her in that - I think the actor who was Hansenn from Holby was in it. Grin

(I still miss HolbySad)

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2023 17:19

Much as I miss my ( fairly) regular fix of "Nonsense From The Mill", I miss the accompanying chunter on this thread more!

Raahh · 18/02/2023 17:28

Afternoon Fuzzy Grin

Hopefully it will be back Monday- barring anymore postponements for unforeseen circumstances (no more Prime Minister resignations etc Grin).

I'm still not sure how much I will actually see 'Live' next week - as well as umpteen appointments, I need to get new tyres for for my car Grin

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2023 18:09

We are half way through a bathroom renovation ( just been to DD's house for a shower, plus the fitting of a log burner. Then there's the cloakroom, garden and kitchen booked in. And that's just phase1.
I will be watching the telly because I don't have the energy to move!

Good luck with the car tyres Raahh. Not an exciting purchase but necessary.

Raahh · 18/02/2023 18:12

Good luck with the bathroom. I'm onlt just recovering from the trauma of our kitchen renovation Grin

I hate anything car related. I would gladly never have anything to do with cars if I didn't have to Grin

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2023 18:14

I'm going to invent my own docTors plot...

PotD is a young man, ex addict with random non-essential illness. However, he knows Jimmi from the Clink and wants to blackmail him into handing over some drugs. It doesn't work.

Al sees a money making scheme, buying several bee hives ( sited outside The Mill) and hoping to make healthy honey. Cue several bee sting allergies. It doesn't work.

Gobby fancies a new haircut and discusses it with Scarlett. Scarlett recommends going red. It doesn't work.

Luca and his boyfriend buy a tandem. It doesn't work.

None of these plotlines will ever be seen again.

Raahh · 18/02/2023 18:17
Grin They all sound very plausible, don't they? Grin

Yes that's the one. Took me a while to recognise Guy Henry.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 18/02/2023 20:02

Any one else watch Madam Blanc Mysteries? DH and I are just catching up on the latest series and Maeve (Clelia Murphy) has been in it. Another totally self absorbed character.

Guy! That's it.

I have been watching Death in Paradise from the very beginning. (Now I've finished Doc Martin).

I spend a lot of time on IMDB googling actors Grin

LIZS · 18/02/2023 21:39

There is a Guy Henry fan facebook page, no idea why it pops up 9n my feed! Funnily just switched over to DIP on alibi.
