At the risk of being asked why am I on this thread then. I have been watching Love Island UK and Australia for several years and either I’ve grown tired of the format suddenly or this is the most boring series that I’ve ever seen. Is it me?

I could have written that. I have really tried this one and I just can't get into it at all. But I've watched LI from the start and always loved it.

I agree...but also I say this of other programmes I watch - The Apprentice being one. Stopped watching things like x factor/BGT/Voice ages ago so really things like Love island should be filed in the same cabinet!

I also think The Apprentice and I’m a Celebrity, Get Me out of here has become boring with more or less the same tasks rolled out every year. I really enjoyed The Traitors which aired recently, a real mind game.

Yeah apart from the odd Tara/Olivia moment it's a bit dull. Problem is they all know the formula, The steady from day one couple stand a good chance of winning that's all they are trying to do. Hope casa amour spices things up.

I’m enjoying it this year, I think there’s an interesting mix of characters but I suppose we know the format and we get suspicious that they’re just playing the game! I can’t stand the whole performance of asking people to be your girlfriend, really hope we’re not exposed to that shit this year! Like PP said it’s the same for most reality shows.

Just as last year - I cannot understand the racial segregation in the villa. It is not my experience of real life, nor that of most people I know. It beggars belief that viewers appear to be happy with it. (And I know it’s not a popular view on LI threads.)

That aside I prefer this year to last as the people are mostly less desperate more entertaining.

In the real world it’s surely highly unlikely that a biomedical science student would come into contact socially with a security guard and contemplate a long term relationship … Perhaps Shaq is secretly doing a PhD but has omitted it from his TV CV?

Lana is brilliant. After her saying she is always too nice and lets men walk all over her she handled the chat with Ron so so well and stood her ground. I wonder if that Owen lad didn’t treat her well either? She seems so lovely. I hope the next male bombshell is told to make a bee line for her by the producers(and I hope she likes him, give Ron something to worry about for a change)

I was also quite shocked seeing Shaq taking a video of T doing her sexy dance. Made me squirm inside. Was he planning on showing it to the other lads or was it for his ‘own entertainment’ some time later. Not nice!

Aaron is just invisible in there and doesn’t seem to be making any effort with any of the girls. He will be out next I’m sure.

Definitely sparks between Tom and Ellie, I think they would be far better suited. I hope Zara takes a bit of a chill pill as she's getting herself so worked up and they're not even exclusive!

Zara is coming across very moody and possessive. I hope Tom and Ellie get on and then there will some fireworks.

I haven't seen first look, but I definitely thought Tom was far more enthusiastic about getting to know Ellie than he has been about Olivia. I wondered why he didn't choose Ellie for face over Olivia, especially since it would have riled Zara less (slightly) but I think he knew how upset Olivia would have been if he didn't give her a mention.

Zara was very dismissive of Jessie's viewpoint, which was rude. If she behavesn like this in every relationship, I can see why she's single.

Think Zara and Tom are definitely at the end of the road and I can't see anyone else choosing her now unless a male bombshell comes in (and we need another one as the last two have been female).

Samie looks gorgeous. Ellie and Olivia should definitely watch out.

You're right. It's the most boring by far. I think that a poor choice of contestants and poor editing contributes to this. I recently watched the Australian version season 4. I really enjoyed it. All the girls, bar one, we so natural. No puffed up lips, hair extensions etc. There were some really likeable people in it and lots of twists despite not having Casa Amor.

We don't need to see the same fake convos over and over again. Your my type, wheres this going, think I can see a future, get to know you, and the usual stupid clichés.
All words no action. We don't see the relationship s develop in real time.
It's just bombshell after bombshell.

We don't get to know the islanders at all more than say you would going on a speed dating event.
Then it's next dump/ recoupling bombshell repeat.
