MAFS OZ (spoilers thread)

Starts here in Oz 30th January so thought I'd give everyone a heads up if you're watching in real time with us.

In case anyone needs a reminder this will be the spoiler/up to date thread. Someone else can start the UK pace one.

Yes her mate was absolutely delighted to be telling the bride this piece of news, and handled it really badly. Never even an ‘are you ok’. Just “Look what I found, are the cameras on us, yeah great”

Yeah I thought that was handled really badly but then again we're all here for the drama.

I thought the first couple, the blonde couple, were just so lovely. I am so cynical about this serious of MAFS because there has been so much stuff in the media already about how they all want to be instagram famous, but those two just gave me a really nice fuzzy feeling, they seemed to be there genuinely to find love.

The other couple; well Harrison was awful from the start, I wondered if he was taking the mick out of himself but the editing was making him look like an arsehole, but it seems he really is an arsehole. Bronte was genuinely beautiful and I have been tempted to go online to have a look at her makeup tutorials because her makeup was lovely.

I'm not normally a fan of the wedding or final vow episodes, but that one was great.

Melissa, just yuk, she might be oldest be she certainly isn't the most mature

Yes the first couple! I think she seems absolutely lovely and he does too. Really natural together. They even look like each other a bit? My only 2 caveats are - didn't we all love Olivia and Jackson at this stage and thought they were made for each other? As others have said, past series have made us more wary/ cynical!

But also, I know couples can and do move to be with each other but they both have reasons why leaving where they live would be incredibly hard. They don't ever seem to factor in distance in the matching. It puts so much extra pressure on things at the end if they do go the distance. Australia is so huge!

The second couple - hmm I really feel like they have stitched her up. Even without the 'news' he already came across as a complete dick. Totally agree there was a set up feel to it.the biggest red flag for me (apart from the obvious) was how he retaliated. Ugh

That said I throughly enjoyed it all!

Hmm the sound just worked ok for me. I do think it's a bit glitchy as a website though as I have seen others say the same so maybe it's a them issue. I hope you manage to sort it. (the only thing I would do would be to switch it off and on again but I suppose if it's a SH problem that's not going to do any good). Maybe try on your phone too?

I think with the SH videos it comes on muted and you have to tap unmute in the corner of the tv screen bit...if that makes sense!

Poor Sandy - I think they should have matched her with an Indian bloke given that her family situation is so important to her.

OMG the groom’s guest who looked around the Indian wedding before the bride came in (clearly clocking it’s an Indian woman) and saying “I’m not sure this is what he signed up for” - WTF!! Aussies aren’t very culturally sensitive are they - remember Cody last year saying he didn’t fancy Selina because she’s Asian?

Totally agree with you @lemonsaretheonlyfruit - did someone get a map and just match the furthest points? I know obviously territories border one another so might not be that far away but, it's a big ole place eh. There are two couples where they are both from NSW so be interesting to see if that helps at all!

I actually like Jesse - he’s got a v attractive smoulder. And I’m totally with him on his type of girl. On his ‘ick’ list there was nothing about looks, it was about being valid and self centred which I think is fair enough. And I agree about star signs and crystals, I couldn’t be with someone who believes in that crap either.

Also I did laugh when on the honeymoon there was the ominous music and the whole ‘six hours later’ as they say in the dark and were filmed from the bushes.

I really hope that this year the producers haven't matched everyone for the drama, Sandy has put a lot on the line to go on this show so I would hate for the producers to do another Cody and Selina and stick her with a man-child racist just for the entertainment value. She seems really lovely, and he seemed very nice too.

Jesse made me laugh with his ick list, but I'm on Tinder and the amount of profiles that say I'm a Virgo, what about you? I don't even click on them and then I had a date with one guy and after he sent me a message saying "I've checked you're a Gemini and I'm a .... we are compatible". I just thought no we're fucking not mate and never saw him again. So I guess I'm with Jesse really.

I've got through the last few years not watching MAFS. Now am hooked Love the young couple they are showing now. Although another Perth and Sydney match.

Matching a couple who live at opposite ends of Western Australia would be bad enough but to match a couple that live on opposite sides of the country is ridiculous. To put it into perspective for anyone unaware, Sydney is closer to New Zealand than Sydney is to Perth.
