I think even the judges are bored with this season. Trouble is, they've had quite a few professional dancers on now like Perri, Brendan etc and there's no fun element to it anymore. It takes itself too seriously, and I miss the Todd Carty moments personally.

More investment in the professionals so we know who they are. I think Strictly goes too far with it, but somewhere in between.

Proper challenges and props only when required, not for the sake of it. If you must have movie/musicals week (and make it merged) use props then. Not faffing about with a feather boa.

NOBODY that has been on a "reality" show without being famous for having achieved something else in the first place. NO reality circuit people and NOBODY from ANYTHING on ITVBe is allowed to participate.

Basically they do need to select candidates with either dance or skating skills (like ice hockey) or gymnastic/sports skills. Total non skaters barely get out of the wobbly, very boring phase.

I remember feeling really sad when it was announced that DOI was finishing and looked forward to it coming back. I was very underwhelmed. Maybe it is partly the smaller rink but also the very boring judging panel. It’s all a bit flat and one-level boring. I liked it better when T & D weren’t scoring, but just giving comments at the end with Phil.
This year the male celebs haven’t done as many lifts and they are only lifting their partner waist high for a couple of beats. I’ve just watched all the links from the earlier series and there’s no comparison. Chris and Ray were just exceptional, with their speed and seamless changes and incredible jumps. The Balero bit in the final is going to be very average this year. If it’s back next year I hope they have more competitors who are edgier and who do improve. This feels more like halfway through the series rather than the final.

I can’t take to Joey at all. He reminds me of Gaston in Beauty and the Beast. I keep expecting a cartoony twinkly star to shine off his teeth when he smiles. I think Vanessa will be dropped as soon as the show finishes. I hope Nile wins, because he is the best skater there.

I'm not convinced Nile is the 'best' skater there - he's certainly the fastest, most powerful and bravest, but I think the dance/interpretation side could be better. He is massively improving though.

The problem is - to get any good at skating takes a ton of practice and confidence. I know strictly is probably insanely difficult, but with DOI we are expecting people to learn 2 things at once, to dance and to skate. The people who do well are those that can do one of the two already.

It’s definitely not as good as it once was but I really can’t put my finger on why.

Generally I’ve never heard of most of the contestants - but that’s always been the case (although probably a bit worse than it used to be).

Obviously not the presenters as Phil and Holly have done it for years.

I do think that you used to find out more about/get to know the pros a bit better. You used to know a bit more about their background. Now all you get is their name and how many series of DoI they’ve done. I know it’s the celeb you’re meant to support but knowing/liking the pros makes a difference too.

I don’t think it’s the judging panel - there’s always been a mix of skaters and non-skaters on the panel and I like all the current judges. I do miss Robin Cousins though!

Maybe it’s the fact that Torville & Dean are les involved with the creation of the routines now. The routines don’t interest me as much as they used to - they don’t seem to have the daring moves that they used to. Maybe it’s just that what used to seem daring now isn’t.

I agree I've watched every series and the last 2 or 3 just aren't as good. Yet nothing's really changed It's practically the same format as strictly and yet every year strictly is fantastic and DOI is missing something.

He was just carried around the whole time. Seemed like minimal skating to me. No way does he deserve 10s as he wasn't a patch on Nile!
