@NCTDN, no they have 3 in the final, but they stop the vote before the Bolero and only the top two get to skate it. Vote gets re-opened for a bit for a final chance to pick the winner

Mollie went last week.

It was Nile. Joey and The Viv in the final. The Viv went first leaving Nile and Joey to skate Bolero.

The right result, but Nile did have an advantage as a gymnast, as did Beth Tweddle back in 2014.
I spotted Joey making a couple of mistakes. I really don't like Vanessa, never have. Couldn't stand that Frankie who used to be in it either.
Overall, DoI is looking tired and in need of retirement.

I think so for sure. The male celebs always used to do lifts.

Right result. I was delighted for Nile and Olivia.

JE’s Bolero was a sotter.

I would have rather seen James/The Viv do it.

The Vivienne was robbed: they had far more poise and finesse, and actually skated.
Whilst Joey had come a long way from his first Bambi-esque steps on the ice, he lacked the finesse that a finalist should have, and his Bolero consisted of mainly standing on both legs with uncertainty while assisting his partner in lifts.
I think that the initial results (i.e. which 2 couples should skate the Bolero) should have been awarded by the judges, as the audience autonomy turned the result into a popularity contest first, and a skating show second…

I wanted Carley in the final with Nile and not JE or TV at all, however it is a popularity contest first and a skating competition second, so unfortunately means that we don't get what we feel is just!

I just want to go a bit gruff and say ‘she coulda been a contender’.

But she really could have been.

I really hope if there is a series next year they get some decent camera men or women. It makes me feel sick watching it and we want to see them and their feet. Also I don't want to see them from what looks like miles away

Having them capture the challenges would be a start.

I think Viv would have been better off skating out of drag. He’s a big guy; it was incongruous seeing him stomping around heavily in a dress.

To be fair, he's not the first contestant to have done that 😂

Just caught up yes it was an underwhelming final. Joey did not deserve any tens. Nike deserved to win but as said had a distinct advantage over the others.

Being a gymnast didn't help Amy last year and she'd had way more dance experience than Nile or Beth.
For all the advantages Nile had, he had the disadvantages that his injuries had given him particularly his wrist and shoulder issues which along with his height meant he couldn't do much in the way of lifts.

The final was very underwhelming, which I was expecting. Nile deserved to win, but he didn’t have much competition. It was such a poor performance from Joey in the Bolero with Vanessa leading and talking him through it. I’d like to have seen either Mollie or the Vivienne in the final.
I don’t think many of the male celebs had the strength or the stability to do any decent lifting this year. I certainly wouldn’t have been confident in my celeb partner, the best they managed this year seemed to be assisted jumping or waist high lifts.
I preferred T & D speaking to Phil and Holly after the skates, rather than judging. Perhaps it’s time to retire, or change the format, the judges’ challenge seemed to be really lacklustre and done as a one-off rather than being incorporated into the routine.
I think we have been spoiled by watching Chris Fountain and Ray Quinn’s performances; they were just outstanding. I hope next year they manage to get some decent competitors or just improve the judging!
I’m thankful that I recorded it and fast forwarded it to the actual performances.

They seem to have got their partners for 2024. The lad from Corrie was skating with a tiny dark haired lassie yesterday. Doing ok, was learning 2 footed turns forwards to backwards. Apparently Ricky Hatton has 'a tall one' they must have decided he'll never be allowed to do lifts. He's not showing up for his training on time and he's very uncertain on the ice. In the middle skills wise is the former eastenders lad - decent lemons.

Widnes ice rink has had a carbon monoxide scare apparently
