I dimly remember Granny Somebody too. I think, given we've never seen any evidence of grandparents at Christmas, it's just a nice honorific given to their childminder. I think an older woman offering childcare would not be unusual for that time. And calling them Granny X or Aunty X, depending on age, would be a polite thing to do and a bit friendlier for the children than Mrs X.

Granny Parker. She was Tim's maternal grandmother. I always got the impression his mother wasn't as old as Dr T - the actor has just turned 60 so Dr T can't be far behind. AFAIK there's 17 years between Dr T and Shelagh.

She was 31 when they started making eyes at each other. There are a couple of scenes where you can see dates of birth. I'm not obsessive at all, not even slightly... 🤭

My cousin is the same age as me. Almost 60. She’s never been married or had children. She looks at least 10/15 years younger than me on a bad day (hers not mine!). She can easily pass for 40. Her much younger married with dc sister looks older than her.
