new drama over 4 nights

we either love or hate ch5 dramas 😂😂

A newlywed couple living in the Melbourne suburbs have their lives shattered by tragedy. Alison Weston (Ackley Bridge star Jo Joyner) is left devastated when her new husband Sean (Neighbours star Peter O’Brien) goes out surfing one morning and fails to return home. After an extensive search of the coast near their home, the police conclude that Sean drowned in a dangerous riptide - but a grieving Alison, increasingly aware of the tensions among her family and close friends, begins to suspect that something else happened to him...

"What I think is unusual about this thriller is that you don’t spend all four episodes wondering who did what," explains Jo Joyner. "You spend a good amount of time being suspicious of everybody, but at a certain point the audience hold all the cards, and I think that has its own thrill. They will know who they shouldn’t trust, and then that becomes even more suspense-filled!"

Pauline ! That Sheridan smith drama earlier this year was bizarre
I think that the daughter is up to no good too
Although I'm not that invested in any of them and I don't care really
I like her long beige cardigan top

This is hilarious. How does a fairly ordinary middle aged woman inspire such devotion in every man she meets?
Creepy neighbour passes her in the office and is immediately smitten. Not very realistic is it.

I am totally with you on this!

Well, @duc748 , assuming the neighbour didn't discover the body while building sandcastles on the beach - at night - if you stumbled across a dead body, surely your first reaction would be "I must immediately phone the police" and not " I must dig this up and put it in my car boot" wouldn't it?
And, unless you were involved in some way with the burial, how would you know where to dig to retrieve and move it?

Having said that, this is a chanel 5 drama - anything's possible!

I think I must have fallen asleep during that bit 🤦🏼‍♀️

So since it is clearly the dodgy neighbour what is all the other carry on about with all the other family members and associates. I am looking forward to tomorrow's episode though

PenelopeStrawberry1 · 30/12/2022 00:20

I'm really hoping there's some kind of twist at the end

I'd disagree. First husband is an idiot, he must have thought all his Christmases had come at once to land her. Sean was a wrinkled old git, surely quite a lot older, same applies. And neighbour has presumably got an agenda, so wouldn't read too much into that.

Wingedharpy · 30/12/2022 01:31

I agree @duc748 .
I wondered if the woman, handsome neighbour met while getting whatever pastries were in that box, could become significant.
It sounded like he'd made romantic overtures towards her but "it was too soon after Ken" - or some other chaps name, she said.
Maybe he bumped off "Ken" as well?
He's a serial widow-maker after the easy life?

Wingedharpy · 30/12/2022 01:48

I also wondered if he was slowly poisoning her?

Her "feeling queasy" remark - "I thought I may be pregnant but I'm not" and her throwing up on the beach when the body had been found.
He brought her pastries or something edible in a box - "your favourite" and he's always quick to put the kettle on to offer her coffee.

the80sweregreat · 30/12/2022 02:25

I think he is poisoning her too

duc748 · 30/12/2022 02:39

There was much brandishing of testers, but I wasn't sure whether she was pregnant or not. I assumed that was left ambiguous.

It does seem a bit predictable - and the acting is terrible, (especially Logan and Ethan), and the DD is so miscast. (I asked my DS who isn't watching but happened to be in the room how old he thought "Hannah" was - and he said "27?, 28?" Spot on). She is simply not convincing as a teen.

Neighbour is clever - don't think he is poisoning her but he has done this before (previous widow he met in car park).

Picked out his "mark", Alison, in the estate agents office and made the plan then and there. Was initially surprised to see A was married as she'd picked the keys up alone. But decided it'd be easy to bump off Sean. We know he has a year while house owners are away - that's long enough to get her to marry him. It's only been a few weeks and he's already her go-to person.

(Why has A got not a single friend or ex-colleague??)

butterpuffed · 30/12/2022 13:37

Been away for a week so not seen any of your recommendations @Blondeshavemorefun and trying to avoid posts in here as just about to start on it .

It's a strange drama, but it's nice there isn't any flashbacks and fairly straight forwards
Some dramas are not and it gets confusing

Harperweek · 30/12/2022 15:35

I was wondering if Michael and Logan are sleeping together.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/12/2022 15:55

Oh yes he’s def shagging his daughters bf !!!

OP posts:
butterpuffed · 30/12/2022 19:06

I thought that too, Logan with the loo brush hair . Not a bad drama for Channel 5 , will watch last one tomorrow as I'm not normally a binger but watched the first three today .

Nowhere hot @Blondeshavemorefun , with family in Herefordshire .

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/12/2022 19:23

Still sounds nice @butterpuffed

I will be watching real time tonight as not working

I just rewatched the other widow in the carpark bit, I obviously wasn't paying attention, he probably did kill her husband as well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/12/2022 21:04

He’s a serial killer and widow shagger
