I didn't realise this was tonight!

If Rosie had put a waist of some sort onto that dress it would have looked a lot more Dolly Parton. Maybe a wide lace up belt that points up the torso.

Was Johannes' model wearing underwear? I think something a little more supportive would have been less distracting. Grin

SoupDragon · 23/12/2022 17:00

I thought he did very well not to be more distracting with those squats 😂 I think that's what won it for Johannes!

the dress was Country & Western but not Dolly. Her "thing" is her bust and there was nothing to enhance that at all.

Ack. That man’s baws wallaching about in that jumpsuit 🤣 chafetastic

I only just remembered about watching this last night and came in to see what my follow MNers were saying about the jumpsuit. I've now done myself a mischief laughing at that! Respect 😎

I have just finished her book, quite an interesting life she has had.

I agree. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) is funny and fancy her to win it.

She came across as a very nice woman. I think she’d be a good friend and neighbour.

I love this! DDog is sulking as I’m ignoring him for once. Penny seems so down to earth, which surprises me a bit. Such nice, happy TV.

Did you know Penny volunteers as a PCSO in her local area ? Ive huge respect for her.

QueenofLouisiana · 23/12/2022 20:12

@EricNorthmanYesPlease (loving our matching usernames!) I did not know that. What a good thing to do, fair play to her. Although I believe Rod Stewart filled the pot holes along the road he lives in as the council weren’t doing anything about it, also deserving recognition!

I need to re watch True Blood. Its so underrated!
The pair of them seem really decent and just get on with helping others without ahouting about it.
More celebs should take note!

I too made an apron at school. It took me a term, I was hopeless. Thankfully we only had to do one term of it.

It struck me that only someone well endowed would consider dressing up as Dolly Parton in the first place. They should have got a suitably sized model - though I suppose the fitting would be tricky...

Ch3wylemon · 22/12/2022 22:28

That was great, wasn't it?

When I was at school we had to make gingham aprons in our house colours.

Me too, mine was green and white. Circa 1968

I made mine in 1966 but I think I could remember how and make one the same today.

Did anyone watch the Throwdown? There was no thread. I just watched it on catch up and it was lovely. And how adorable that James Fleet is as lovely and sweet IRL as the parts he plays.

longtompot · 26/12/2022 12:12

@Piggywaspushed we did and loved James. I normally like Jamie but he came across as hugely self absorbed. It was a lovely episode and am looking forward to the new series

Piggywaspushed · 26/12/2022 12:18

Me too!

I think that's an act Jamie puts on. The excitable puppy thing : I hope so, anyway! It's such a comfort blanket programme.

Ch3wylemon · 26/12/2022 13:01

Just finished watching pottery on catch up. Really loved it - I thought the scenes were very personal & lovely. I think Jamie was pleased and surprised his worked out- he'd been expecting to blag it and managed to make something decent.

NutellaEllaElla · 26/12/2022 13:11

Oh I forgot, thanks for the reminder I'll try to catch up on it soon

littlbrowndog · 22/12/2022 20:29

Oh really. I like a biography of a strong woman. Was it ?

I've just finished her book, it was a terrific read, she's had a fascinating life, and was a trailblazer in the 70's. She seems like someone you'd want as a friend, always up for enjoying life .

Toddlerteaplease · 26/12/2022 20:29

Just catching up. Omg Little olive. How utterly adorable is she!

SoupDragon · 27/12/2022 19:30

I've just watched the Pottery Throwdown (I felt James was far more experienced than the others which made it seem unfair).

anyway something they said at the beginning I think probably applies to the Sewing Bee too - the contestants all had a couple of hours tutoring beforehand.

Late to the party but I would have had Sonia win it. The jumpsuit was nice but I wouldn’t have known who it was supposed to represent.

That said I’d not have been upset at any of them winning. They all came across lovely.

And I got a lovely tingle when Patrick came in with Olive. She was pure gorgeous.

I loved the Pottery too. Morph 🥰

ArcaneWireless · 27/12/2022 23:41

Sorry. Natalie. But she has been Sonia for so long I’m sure she would be gracious enough to forgive me. 😬

SoupDragon · 28/12/2022 06:59

I thought it was unusual that all of them were lovely.

Why?

SoupDragon · 28/12/2022 08:46

Usually they edit it so that someone is a "cut-throat winner" complete with snarky sidewise looks and out of context comments.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 28/12/2022 08:49

Plus, there is often one that someone on a thread doesn't warm to and finds irritating (myself included).
