I want to play with trimmings now

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/12/2022 20:58

I enjoyed that.

SoupDragon · 22/12/2022 20:58

I wonder if there's a second episode. They've had two in the past.

There's usually a New Year one.

Pugsbladder · 22/12/2022 21:00

Patrick was hilarious as Cher 😂

I can't find any mention of one which os a shame. Mind you, this one was a surprise for me,

I watched it and enjoyed it.

I am an experienced sewer though and there is no way they achieved what they did in the time they had without A LOT of assistance.

kudos to Johnannes for excellent fitting and to Rosie for attempting a zip.

Same here and I agree. Especially Natalie and her parka.

Ch3wylemon · 22/12/2022 22:28

That was great, wasn't it?

When I was at school we had to make gingham aprons in our house colours.

DoubleGauze · 22/12/2022 22:45

Iirc they said last year that the celebs are shown how to use and thread the machines.

I'm glad they were asked to make an apron. It's totally achievable for a beginner and a great opportunity for embellishment.

I don't think they were given any extra help as they made rookie errors like choosing to sew heavy materials to lighter ones and sewing using contrasting threads with no accuracy.

Really enjoyable show though , and Patrick looked great as Cher. Rosie has a fab voice too , I had no idea she could sing.

NutellaEllaElla · 22/12/2022 22:51

I believe they had not much support to make the apron but the final pieces of clothing, they absolutely had lots and lots of help. I've been sewing since Feb 2021 and it'd take me a week to make a parka, or a jumpsuit.

JemimaTab · 23/12/2022 02:44

That was such good fun. I loved it! Good mix of guests, I thought.

We had to make white ones with a bib and gathered skirt and the school colours in bias binding.

Morning! It was so lovely to have some nice telly after some sourness about/in other similar programmes.

For those who also watch Pottery Throwdown , there's a special one for that too. On Christmas Day!

sweatervest · 23/12/2022 10:49

My love for Natalie Cassidy is ruined by how much I'm not a fan of Sara pascoe. She was on Graham Norton ages ago and how on earth is she considered a comedian.

What doesn't kill you makes you Sonia.
(I saw that on the internet somewhere and was lol)

They were a great set of celebrities this year. No one was cut throat competitive, they all seemed to be having a whale of a time. It was a lovely programme.

i don't think using a sewing machine for basic sewing is difficult if you can drive a car - the control of the foot pedal should at least be natural. If you have someone to help with the technical aspects of using it it should be easy if you take it steadily.

Damn, damn, damn. I missed it and now I can't find it on iPlayer. They will surely put it up at some stage, won't they?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/12/2022 13:48

Oh, wait! They hid it inside the Series 8 episodes. As you were.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/12/2022 13:58

I love Johannes so much.
