Pottery Throw down is BACK!

Hello all GPTD fans the next series has been announced and will start on 8th January at 7:45. It’s a Sunday night and it’s on Channel 4 as usual.

Festive Pottery Throw Down is on Christmas Day too. James Fleet, Jamie Laing, Jenny Eclair and Sunetra Sarker are the celebrities taking part this year.

I'm going to back Jon as the winner because I think he's the underdog but I think he's the one who has developed most and his self deprecation is relatable

Lois’ painting is the best but I think James is more technically skilled. It really depends on what they are asked to make. It was a shame to see Caitlin go, but what a brilliant young person.

I did that slip scratch back technique last week on my second week at ceramics and it's not easy !

I love this program so much I'm gonna be bereft when it ends !

It inspired me to have a go and they make it look as simple !

How could Lois be so surprised that she won? She came first in the spot test and the judges were really complimentary about her tiles and sinks.

I loved Keith’s photobomb of Jon’s interview at the end.

It’s long been a wish of mine to own some Moorcroft

We've got a Moorcroft plague straight from the factory shop. I would love to own a pot or vase though, but they are too expensive for us. See them all the time at antiques fairs.

I had him down as an early reject, but I love him now. He's really developed as a potter and a personality. I would love to see him win, but I think James and Lois are too good for that to happen. I loved his tiles the most, but James's brushwork was beautiful.

You're right, Lois is getting annoying now. There's only so much false modesty I can take. Own it woman!

I loved Lois' tiles and would have them in my bathroom. Didn't like her basins though. I would love one of James' basins in my bathroom.

Thought Caitlin's tiles were awful although the judges liked them

I think they were being kind to Caitlin because they knew she was going home. They always try to build up rather than knock down. It's that kind of program. 😍

Maybe but they went a bit overboard in my view as they were so awful. Her basins were quite nice so they could just have praised them

Yes they weren't great were they. I think she did do a very good job of bringing them back from terrible though. Sje was a lovely person so it's sad to see her go. Mind you, it's at that stage were it seems terrible that someone is going to have to leave.

Have to say Lois did come across as false didn't it. I knew she was getting POTW before I watched. (Accidentally saw a post saying that at the top of my posts.) At first I thought maybe she was being worried because she was doing a different method for her tiles to everyone. But then at the end it just seem pretend.

I'd like too see Jon win. There's always something excellent about his. If he can do the final without making some daft mistake or having to paint freestyle, I think he might.

I don’t get all the negativity towards Lois, she has won potter of the week more often than the others because she produces really beautiful pieces. Her tiles last week were lovely.

@HeadNorth I agree she makes some beautiful pieces but she's always so shocked when she gets picked as potw. Bit irritating, she must know she's good.
