Hello all GPTD fans the next series has been announced and will start on 8th January at 7:45. It’s a Sunday night and it’s on Channel 4 as usual.

Festive Pottery Throw Down is on Christmas Day too. James Fleet, Jamie Laing, Jenny Eclair and Sunetra Sarker are the celebrities taking part this year.

I think Caitlin may have taken it if her cup didn’t leak, but I think Lois has it. Helen to go home - I loved her set, but it wasn’t radically altered.

Helen’s is my favourite, but I get why it doesn’t fulfill the brief. I would buy or commission it though.

I agree, but I think it was the most attractive!

Piggywaspushed · 26/02/2023 20:56

Awww...bye bye lovley Helen.

Wolfcub · 26/02/2023 20:56

I think those were the right decisions

Saucery · 26/02/2023 20:56

Ahhh, I liked Helen all the way through. But she said she was a bit relieved and I think pottery is just one string to her bow in life.

Maireas · 26/02/2023 20:58

Helen's such a great person. She's lovely, funny and creative - but maybe she'd reached the end.

I like Siobhan's outfit. Nice abstract shirt.

I LOVED Siobhan's shirt!

That's all I've asked about for the entire programme.

Just what Mr Viper and I said -Helen's was the most useable (and fun). James' was lovely, too.

Not surprised Lois won,thought.

Emotionalsupportviper · 26/02/2023 22:29

Very sorry to lose Helen.

Lois' faux modesty is getting on my last nerve.

Me too she's always so surprised when she wins Potter of the week.

LadyAddle · 26/02/2023 22:42

I'm glad Caitlin got through despite the cracked cup - she really pushes herself and isn't afraid to take risks. She's genuinely unassuming, I think.

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/02/2023 08:10

Agree @LadyAddle

Caitlin is lovely - genuinely humble, and always thrilled for the others when they do well.

Maireas · 27/02/2023 08:32

She's the kind of doctor we need.

mydogisthebest · 27/02/2023 08:45

I loved Helen's and Lois'. Caitlin's was certainly unusual but I hated it. Coffee pot looked liked a watering can and all so chunky and ugly

Maireas · 27/02/2023 09:03

Yes, Caitlin's was very ugly, but she fulfilled the brief.

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/02/2023 09:11

Maireas · 27/02/2023 09:03

Yes, Caitlin's was very ugly, but she fulfilled the brief.

Yes - more so than Lois.

If only her coffee cup hadn't leaked . . .

But I LOVED Helen's - there was something reminiscent of Beryl Cook about it (yes - I know she painted lovely chubby women, but to me it had the same sort of abandoned joy in the coffee pot.)

Maireas · 27/02/2023 09:14

Helen's joy just shines through. What a lovely person. I did like her set. Apart from Caitlin, Jon fulfilled the brief well, and I agree that Lois not so much.

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/02/2023 10:14

It was a very difficult brief, though.

I think they sometimes ask an awful lot of the competitors - especially to do in 3 hrs (I think that's what it was.).

No way could I think outside the box to the extent that Caitlin, Jon and Lois did.

Helen and James were much more conventional, though lovely (and far more useable).

longtompot · 27/02/2023 11:13

They were given 6 hours to make & refine their pieces, which is still not enough time imo. It should have been 6 hours to make & then more time to refine.
I loved the carton jugs at the beginning. I didn't really like any of the coffee sets tbh, the nicest was Helen's but it wasn't altered really. It really confused my dd when Siobhan and Rose swapped places. It did make me think wait what? for a second.

ArcaneWireless · 27/02/2023 12:25

I will miss Helen.

The brief done did for her.

I can’t warm to Lois. Plus her spout looked like it belonged on George’s(ahem) protuberance from the other week.

No thank you.

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/02/2023 16:06

Thank you, @longtompot - I don't where I got three hours from. %ix still doesn't seem very long, you;re right.

I didn't like the Rose/Siobhan swap. I like Siobhan and something about it just made me feel uncomfortable.

elgreco · 27/02/2023 20:13

The swap was strange.

I think Lois is stymied by the fact that British people are not really allowed to state how good they are at anything. She is playing by society's rules but isn't very good at it.

Ladybrrrd · 27/02/2023 21:29

Not really inspired by any of them this week to be honest. V sad about loser but right decision. Got to get the brief.

I thought the swap was quite funny. I'm loving Rose's selection of bow ties. She's a talented potter.

Wolfcub · 05/03/2023 19:47

Evening all

Maireas · 05/03/2023 19:48

Evening. Semi finals.
