Hello all GPTD fans the next series has been announced and will start on 8th January at 7:45. It’s a Sunday night and it’s on Channel 4 as usual.

Festive Pottery Throw Down is on Christmas Day too. James Fleet, Jamie Laing, Jenny Eclair and Sunetra Sarker are the celebrities taking part this year.

Hooray for some blue on George’s

Bagzzz · 29/01/2023 20:50

Love the colour, otherwise pretty boring. Hoping Fabiola goes on overall performance over the weeks.

HeadNorth · 29/01/2023 20:52

I liked the spirals and George’s. I also thought Caitlin’s waterdragons were appealing. But chicken man is probably top technically.

LaChatte · 29/01/2023 20:52

Only ones I really like are the chickens. Overall not very aesthetic, naked raku can be so beautiful. I've never tried with stencils, and after watching this I shan't bother trying 😂.

Sunbird24 · 29/01/2023 20:56

Well done James

lollipoprainbow · 29/01/2023 20:56

Right decision

TokyoSushi · 29/01/2023 20:57

Ah, I think that's probably the right decision.

Saucery · 29/01/2023 20:57

Good call. I’m sure she has techniques she’s good at, but that just hasn’t come through in the last 2-3 weeks.

Wolfcub · 29/01/2023 20:57

Definitely the right decisions

Emotionalsupportviper · 29/01/2023 20:58

Definitely the right decision.

Loved the chickens, the spirals, the cephalopods and the dragons.

LaChatte · 29/01/2023 20:58

Ooh gargoyles, fun!

Bagzzz · 29/01/2023 20:59

See you next week

knittingaddict · 30/01/2023 10:53

Phew.

I think I irritated my husband tonight by my constant refrain of "please let Fabiola go this week". Fortunately it was clear early on that she was the poorest potter this week and the winner was a bit of a foregone conclusion too. Fabiola was just so slapdash and I'm happy not to have to watch her again. Shame about Christophe though.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 31/01/2023 19:12

I was disappointed in the raku planters too. James's were very well made but they did look like dead chickens swinging by their feet. The others were all pretty murky, though I did like George's.

Hellocatshome · 31/01/2023 19:52

I normally love Raku week but this one was a bit meh for some reason.

ArcaneWireless · 31/01/2023 19:56

I didn’t care for this raku week.

I remember ones of old and it was exciting and there was a vibrancy to the creations.

Emotionalsupportviper · 31/01/2023 20:01

Agree - was very disappointing

I agree, I like the raku where they throw in random stuff in the last minute, seaweed, twigs, dog hair, baby’s first teeth…… .exciting stuff. Paper stencils seem very tame by comparison.

Roussette · 04/02/2023 15:21

Yes, I wonder why they didn't do that. I remember one with seaweed, it made the most fantastic patterns.

allthemissingfucks · 04/02/2023 21:36

The programme designers (producers? I dunno?) messed up this week.
The planters were always going to look shit anyway (compared to the usual offerings) and raku needs lots of smooth surface area to allow you to see the beauty of the randomness of it (not that's I've ever made a pot before in my life!)

ritarita · 04/02/2023 21:51
