William "screamed and shouted" at Harry.

Ep5.
So that's the big accusation we've been waiting for.

Then a denial that he, Harry, denied William had bullied him and MM.

Denying that you denied it so implying it was true that William was bullying them?

Never liked William anyway. Hope he's never King.

Dis she say newspapers had published it? Or is she talking about what journalists said to her?

JemimaTiggywinkles · 15/12/2022 22:20

I do not believe any newspaper would be using the horrible n-word in print.

Perhaps not in the UK. But print media in other countries are not subject to the same (relatively strict) rules are the UK. And most of social media is essentially unregulated. Meghan and Harry were constantly conflating “the press” and “media”. So things said by randoms on on social media (eg Twitter) were lumped in with Sunday Times articles.

antelopevalley · 15/12/2022 22:24

If she means abroad then yes I have seen that word in other countries when referring to Archie.

But she was referring specifically to the British media though…

Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?”

I would have thought any newspaper using that term would have been majorly called out and quite rightly heavily censured by the IPSO

There was racism from the tabloids such as the ‘nearly straight outta Compton headline in the Daily Mail’ but I do not believe any newspaper would be using the horrible n-word in print. They would rightly be sued to high heaven. Unless M means she heard some press people say that amongst themselves. I really hope not.

Where does it say it was journalists? Just says 'the people' which is a percentage of the general population who hold racist/disapproving views, surely?

My sister and I had a horrible row one Christmas, over whether to put butter in the mashed carrot and swede or not. How much will netflix pay for the exclusive? ( If you're reading this Sun reporters, I take cash, cheers)

Christmas always brings out these type of (no offence) silly arguments but at the time it really matters.

Sorry, can I just check were you for or against adding the butter?

She said she was expected to give pictures of her son, Archie, to the Royal Rota, the press pool that covers Queen Elizabeth II and her line of succession.

And then said, “Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?“

That suggests pretty conclusively she was referring specifically to the Royal Rota.

JohnPrescottsPyjamas · 15/12/2022 22:39

So, did or did not the Royal Rota call Archie the N-Word? That’s clearly what Meghan is alleging.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 15/12/2022 22:41

They blamed the British press for being terrible and then talked about things which were evidently not due to the British press - such as Thomas Markle’s photos and Samantha Markle’s stories. Even Diana’s death (in France) and the helicopters around the house they borrowed (in California). The documentary did make it look like they were saying the N-word was used in the British press, but I honestly don’t believe it was. I think the documentary maker was to blame there though - they were clearly trying to paint a picture of the evil British rather than trying to get to an actual truth.

If you read that article, she is talking about “media outlets whose readers” call her child that word, not the reporters themselves.

UniversalAunt · 15/12/2022 23:14

@musingsinmidlife ’Can someone link to a compiled list or a site that has them all?’

Try Tattle - there is an H&M thread with an archive Wiki.

I think the whole statement from her is deliberately obfuscated. She has no idea what the ‘readers’ call her child. That’s just a wild assumption. Does she seriously think that most people who buy those newspapers, open the pages, see a picture of Archie and use that offensive term? Sounds like someone bordering on paranoia! I would guess most people that buy a publication with a photo of her or her family in it is because they are interested, not because they want to hurl abuse at the images.

The British press are not saints, but I’ve spent a lot of my life in the US and I’ve always been amazed there at the lack of control of what can be said in their media compared to the U.K. Some of the allegations made are outrageous and sometimes clearly made up - I’ve seen some truly horrific comments made about celebrities - but the First Amendment is clearly observed. If H&M think they’ve had a rough time from the British media, just wait until the American public fall out of love with them.

Except that's not true, nothing they've said has been proven to be false. That's a lie of and in itself.

How about saying that the Archbishop of Canterbury had already married them in a private ceremony a few days before the wedding? That was proven to be untrue. Unless they're going to accuse him of lying 🙈

Theunamedcat · 15/12/2022 23:26

And clearly all the cameras at a Harry Potter premier that they never attended were pointed at them 🙄

It always seemed quite clear to me that that little, private ceremony/blessing was what they consider their actual wedding (exchanging of vows) as opposed to the legal ceremony.

Which is absolutely fine and very sweet.

Yes...I guess so. I did feel bad for the bish having to publicly clarify it though.

@OldPosterNewUsername it wasn't silly because clearly my sister was wrong in wanting to put butter in 😉

You are correct there, I am silly for even suggesting otherwise!!

Im quite disturbed by the number of people who are saying it's normal to shout at your siblings and even claiming that physical fighting is normal between male siblings! In adulthood? Really? Unless you live on Albert Square I don't think this is normal behaviour at all.

I don’t it’s normal for adult family members to constantly be shouting at each other and physical fighting is definitely not normal. The meeting where Harry says William shouted at him was after Harry and Meghan with no agreement yet made by all parties involved set up their SussexRoyal website and declared they were going to do a half in half out role. I am not surprised tensions were high after this stunt by H and M and William shouted at him, I think I would struggled to not have done the same in such a situation.

@ganachee How do you know this? Can you provide a link? Or is this just made up?

Sorry I realise now my first reply to you when you asked this must have seemed to have included responses from me that were not part of your question as I got my threads confused and thought you were linking to another reply of mine that was on a different thread.
