Hopefully Raahh can post on this one.

Nearly time for the Christmas cliffhanger!

Grace's mum, pain in the bum
Poor Al, in trouble over Val.
Yes Scarlett's house does look very cold and I noticed that Daniel and Zara didn't have cardigans or jumpers on while watching the TV.
It's bitterly cold this week and the snow and ice are hanging around.

EspeciallyD · 15/12/2022 22:45

I can never understand why Zara is always in her high heels at home even when she's not about to go to work. She should have some fluffy mules.

I also can't understand how they could even be considering not sacking Val. Also how they don't seem to be in the least bit concerned with looking at their procedures to make sure it couldn't happen again. Someone must have to take responsibility for keeping the prescription blanks safe.

Raahh · 16/12/2022 07:07

I think the prescription was just printed off computer, not hand written on a pad (only my daughter's dentist seems to still do this, and even that has to be stamped and counter signed by someone at the reception desk) so Val had to have Al's log in to do this (hence the faked fire drill to get him out of the office). I admit I can't remember now- she did use the computer, could have been to look up the name of the drug though.

That is the thing that shouldn't have happened- I imagine that even with confidentiality, receptionists need access to a great nyumber of things at a GP surgery- but the login to print off/raise a prescription would surely be a separate thing that only the doctor would have access to? Or should, imo.
There would be no need for a receptionist to need it- I've requested replacement prescriptions, when I used to collect from the surgery rather than direct from the pharmacy - and my request went to the Gp. Reception couldn't print it.

If Al left his login somewhere she could see it- then he's an idiot. But I doubt he's the type to ever write a password down. Grin

(Clearly over thinking this as usualGrin).

doctorsnoddy · 16/12/2022 07:12

Raahh** have you been thinking about this all night!? You are correct Al mustn't have logged out during the fire drill and Val must have added it and either printed or sent it electronically and Al had failed to check before signing:

Raahh · 16/12/2022 07:16

doctors that would explain it- not logging out, when the alarm went off.

Yes, I have given it a lot of thought. Grin
stops me thinking about the gas bill

Grin
LIZS · 16/12/2022 08:41

I-thought Val signed it so committed fraud by forging Al's name on a prescription she printed off during the fire alarm.

Raahh · 16/12/2022 08:51

LIZSyes, she definitely printed off and signed it in his name.
Quite easy to forge the signatiue, if my GP is anything to go by, it's a very undefined squiggle!

What a mess. mean, it's a good storyline for Sarah to go out on, I suppose, if this is how she leaves. But I would have preferred my last memories of her to be more 'Val' like- a follow up to the bonkers Alice in Wonderland episode, maybe. Grin. It's inkeeping with her character to try to help- and get it wrong. But do something criminal? I'm not convinced.

MadisonAvenue · 16/12/2022 09:53

I agree Raahh, I thought that the invention storyline was heading towards her exit, that she was going to get rich and devote her life to cats or something Val-like.

Btw, I’ve checked the BBC page and it appears to be going back to four days after Christmas, the first two weeks of January are listed and both weeks are just Mon-Thurs.

OP posts:
Raahh · 16/12/2022 10:15

Madison I would have much preferred her to leave to start a cat sanctuary, with Geoffrey 2. Seems sad to have her leave like this.

Of course, as an actress, I'm sure this is a more satisfying plot- but it just feels wrong.

I read the BBC 'coming soon' page - (I have no problems with spoilers,Xmas Grin and miss the Digital Spy spoiler page) Not sure about the timings of episodes- it would be odd to be going back to 4 days, but I imagine it's temporary. There have been so many postponed episodes/rescheduled ones lately, for various reasons, maybe they are playing catch up.

The Beeb don't seem to be about to repeat the 7pm 'Doctors repeat' experiment . That fizzled pretty quickly.

doctorsnoddy · 16/12/2022 11:06

Yes of course LIZS that makes sense - I didn't see the episode. That makes it far worse for Val though- Al's only fault being not logging out. She must have known she'd get caught. Back in the day pharmacists were good at identifying forged signatures on prescriptions

Raahh · 16/12/2022 13:46

I am ( because I have no life) quite excited for this afternoon and the last episode before the break.

Although cliffhanger episodes of old have been pretty disappointing.

EspeciallyD · 16/12/2022 13:47

I am watching live for the first time in weeks

FuzzyPuffling · 16/12/2022 13:47

Oh Valerie, don't arse-lick Bear.

Scarlett-Dad, be more careful. And go to the library or something.

EspeciallyD · 16/12/2022 13:47

I don’t like Scarlett’s eyeshadow

FuzzyPuffling · 16/12/2022 13:48

EspeciallyD · 16/12/2022 13:47

I don’t like Scarlett’s eyeshadow

Nor me. She's been wearing it for a few days now.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/12/2022 13:48

Val, wear the badger dress.

Raahh · 16/12/2022 13:49

I don't see how they can be off with Princess- I can;t stand her- but she is right, she did get the sick for less than Val has done. As Al pointed put- she had no way of knowing how Grace would react to the drugs, aside from the cost issue and the fraud.

Raahh · 16/12/2022 13:50

She really should wear the Badger dress.

They all should get one.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/12/2022 13:50

Scarlett-dad...just a T SHIRT???????

EspeciallyD · 16/12/2022 13:50

Grace could have died. Val should be in really serious trouble. I wish they hadn’t done this to her.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/12/2022 13:51

Cat sweater Val. Good choice. Not sure about the "ears" though.

Raahh · 16/12/2022 13:51

She sold the last painitng Geoffrey did. Sad

And Gobby needs to butt out, really.

Raahh · 16/12/2022 13:53

Especially exactly. It goes a it beyond just forging a prescription. She is lucky Grace didn't react negatively- and it's emotional blackmail for Val to even mention Grace in the meeting, I think. Whether she is ok, is neither here not there.

EspeciallyD · 16/12/2022 13:53

She really doesn’t think she’s doing anything wrong Sad

Raahh · 16/12/2022 13:54

Don't lie Val.
