Just because somebody works long hours it doesn’t mean they’re doing a good job. I too have worked in central government, and watched “terribly busy” senior staff putting in long hours. Many of them were mediocre and ineffective, only managing because of excellent more junior staff.

Virtually every NHS trust did run out of PPE. It’s a matter of public record. I know a member of the ambulance service who spent months with inadequate PPE. I expect most people on this site have a similar experience.

Normal procurement rules were altered to reflect the urgency for PPE. The Good Law project has spent months unearthing the names of those who benefitted from the alteration. Unsurprisingly they were disproportionately connected to MPs, ministers, associates etc. Just as unsurprisingly, given they often had no experience in the field, the PPE was often unusable, or was hugely overpriced.

Hancock told the media he was entering I’m a Celebrity to champion the needs of dyslexic people. He hasn’t mentioned it yet, despite giving several reasons as to why he’s there. He certainly didn’t champion it when he was in the Dept of Education.

You’re right. People on this board may well have had affairs. But none of them did so whilst holding a pivotal ministerial role during a pandemic. Or whilst standing behind a podium giving out orders with one hand, whilst having their other hand firmly planted on their mistresses backside.

I don’t think Hancock’s anyone’s scapegoat. He’s a powerful man, he chose his own path. He’s on this show for his own reasons, he’s not taking one for anyone’s team.

Absolutely this. He wasn’t running the country and there was a team of advisors and the prime minister also managing our response to a brand new virus that no one has a clue how to handle.

Yes he behaved disgracefully over the affair and I do think he should be at work.

But a lot (honestly including Ant and Boy George) have done some pretty awful things and don’t get hate like this - awful mob mentality.
