Have watched both episodes of the new series with mixed feelings.

Louis' interview style seems to be different; much more relaxed, less probing and some of the questions are a bit meh.

I gave up on the Stormzy episode. It could have been so much more given the political and social weight he carries.

However, I loved last nights episode with Dame Judy Dench. She was a delight and such a self deprecating person.

Anyone else watched it?

Celeb interviews are a bit boring in comparison

Maybe because they're a bit more wary about what they show of themselves. They need to keep up the persona that pays for their lifestyle. 'Ordinary' people probably just want to be heard.

I didn't think I'd watch these as they weren't his normal stuff but actually I've enjoyed them but having Louis do it has made me enjoy it more of course.
And although I enjoyed the Judi Dench one, I think it wasn't as good as the others

Louis' schtick has always been to be calm, undramatic and self-effacing. This has worked incredibly well with over-the-top, dramatic and/or dangerous subjects. In this series he's an undramatic interviewer, interviewing fairly undramatic people about undramatic issues.

I really enjoyed the Judi Dench interview.

I really like Yungblood anyway , I follow his Insta and he is genuinely
All about his fans , takes a lot of time to meet and talk to them etc
I felt he was genuinely distressed during the family chat about their past when he got upset and got the impression LT actually warmed

LT explained in one of his lockdown revisit programmes that he had to change his style when he started doing interviews in the UK, because he didn't feel he could attribute his (faux) innocence to the cultural difference like he could when he was in the USA.

He couldn't turn up to normal people in the UK pretending to be wide-eyed and baffled by their lives like he did so well with so many of his weird weekend type shows.

I'm not really a fan of Katherine Ryan but I'm still watching it cos it's Louis!

Oh come on! So many women in the acting profession are rejected for parts after the age of forty five or so. It's well known that there is a huge prejudice against older women actors whether it's in the in theatre, on television, or on film. How many screen pairings do you know where it's accepted without question that the male actor is at least twenty years older than their female counterpart? (Any Tom Cruise film for a start.)

A very few exceptionally talented women actors, such as Judi Dench, have broken through this prejudice and when they have done so, they should imho be allowed to continue until they drop dead performing if they so wish. How many adverts are there in which an elderly woman takes a prominent role, as opposed to the thousands in which young men and women appear? Rock on Judi I say!

"Judi Dench is an old woman."

And btw A580Hojas why is such blatant ageism acceptable to you? You say "she has already outlived so many people" as if that is some sort of crime!

Instead of suggesting that JD is only able to work with the help of friends in the industry, which is an incredibly insulting thing to say about such a skilled actor, a less prejudiced person might comment on how incredible JD is for having been able to sustain such a high profile career for so many years.

To get back to the thread , I agree with you Mischance, LT is obviously skilled at his job as these things are always harder to do than they appear, but I dislike his disingenuous interview style intensely.

Does anyone know who Catherine Ryan is talking about when she says there is a well know celebrity who is a sexual predator. She compares them to Jimmy saville in that he is a well know secret in the industry.

I must watch this later. You'd think after Jimmy Saville people would be more open about it, especially if he's well known.

Omg when she said to Louis re Jimmy Saville, "you know him best of all"..ouch

We need to check the subtitles, but I find them dreadful on the BBC.

I thought this week’s had good chemistry. I found her a challenging interview subject and it was all very thought-provoking.

(I thought Jimmy Carr).

Judi was entertaining. Kathryn Ryan - who I previously liked - didn't come across that well IMHO. Louis is far less watchable now but that may be the types of people he is interviewing ATM - I think he's lost his edge but - maybe an "edge" is not what's needed in these interviews.

Definitely not Jimmy Carr, Katherine considers him her mentor!

From what she said it sounded like someone she was alongside on mock the week. She called him out but it didn’t make the edit.

I saw her on the bus the other day!

I really doubt it's R Brand. He has completely changed his life. He recognises he had a problem with his sexual behaviour and is now settled and married and has been for a while. Katherine Ryan implies that this person has an ongoing problem.
