The new season starts on 14th September in the US. No UK date yet but likely be be later in the year

Trailer:

It looks set to be as dramatic as ever. I'm looking forward to the new series but I hope this will be the last, or it risks being one of those series that goes on too long.

Oh and Luke did good, didn't he. I hope he has a really good lawyer Confused I don't think Tuello will help him though as he only promised to help June, not Luke...

AuntieDickhead · 09/11/2022 22:07

I did laugh when Serena asked June for a diaper. Toddler Nicole's would swamp baby Noah! I know they'd be better than nothing in an emergency, but the image made me laugh!

AnotherEmma · 09/11/2022 22:33

Ha, I thought that too!

Whataboutno · 09/11/2022 23:00

Great final episode. Really hope we see more of Janine in the next series.

Am up to date now, watched the latest episode twice, absolutely love THMT, it's my favourite drama series so far. Can't wait for the next episode, I'm so intrigued to find out what happens.

Thanks to whatsthestory123 for the link once again, would hate to watch it at channel 4 pace! Although I do re-watch it on Sunday night and read the No Spoiler's thread. Praise be. God, I* *love the phrases.

Can anyone do all the phrases and meanings - like the Line of Duty ones?

Currently re-watching the series, up to season 4 now, have forgotten so much about it. Praise be.

your very welcome
yep im so the same watch it on a sunday again and it'd surprising how much i miss the first time😃

I do not understand how you can possibly watch episodes again. I found many of the episodes so harrowing it took me all I could do to watch them the once.

Me Too

It will never be a series like West Wing or The Wire that I can go back to again again.

Once and done.

I gave up Outlander for similar reasons. There is a scene in S1 which renders the whole series unwatchable a second time, and in general rape is too oft used as a plot device.

I agree. I find it distressing in some of the episodes so very much doubt I will rewatch.

It's compelling tv - but yes for me it's once and done

whatsthestory123 · 10/11/2022 20:17

i blitzed the first for seasons in just over a week and i did find it disturbing from the beginning but i have now started rewatching again i for one find the second time you see things you did not before

AuntieDickhead · 10/11/2022 20:27

I've rewatched the earlier series multiple times!

The refugee train gave me Holocaust vibes. Are they really on their way to Alaska/Hawaii or is it to New Bethlehem perhaps? I thought Luke was a legal citizen of Canada these days - isn't that why he was taken back and dumped in the border when Wheeler's men had him in No man's Land (they said Luke couldn't be killed as he was legal).

All the "secret" meetings at the border and coming and going between Gilead and Canada is just too silly. Stories that seem to go nowhere.

I think the writers under wrote Rose too much. Last week when Nick told June that Rose was happy in Gilead and then Rose seemed ultra relieved that Nick had turned up to the engagement party at Cmdr. Lawrence's made me think that Nick had lied, Rose wasn't happy in Gilead especially after the nasty quip about "genetics" but perhaps Nick liked being in power with Lawrence and changing things. Seems I was wrong. I didn't think there was divorce in Gilead or a choice that a woman could make not to be with her husband. Also, Rose's dad is meant to be some top Commander - is he in another part of Gilead?

Do you think it was Agnes/Hannah's Gilead "dad" that put the hit out on June? I was really Peed off with June - she bought a bullet proof vest but kept mooning by an open window and then kept walking on the road when it was obvious to her that the car driver behind had malign intent.

Very fanfic series and the ending ..." of all the gin joints... (trains in this case).

whatsthestory123 · 11/11/2022 00:28

what has happened to Esther last seen in hospital i think but not sure

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/11/2022 22:26

I think with Esther they are keeping her chained up and pregnant somewhere. The baby is Putnams so the Lawrences might get it.

mycatisannoying · 13/11/2022 16:58

Not sure about anyone else, but I am watching it and don't have a single clue what's going on.
It's really crap now, to be honest. I couldn't get enough of it in the earlier, exciting days with Aunt Lydia et al. It was never going to be as good when June left Gilead understatement. Hopefully they won't drag it out much further.

MsMadaboutTennis · 13/11/2022 19:12

Well, I've finished it now and really enjoyed most of it. But so many Unanswered questions Can't wait for the final series. Still watching at channel 4 pace though tonight!
Really need to find something else to binge on now.

AnImaginaryCat · 14/11/2022 16:45

For the best part I really enjoyed this series. Though I admit I did start to get narked by the endless shots each episode of Elizabeth Moss glaring into the camera.

Considered suggesting it as a drinking game, but didn't as we'd all be uncontrollably drunk half way through each episode 😂

That ending was perfect. Thelma & Louise vibes.

I agree. It was a great ending and my favourite season so far.
Does anyone know what's going to happen to Janine?

LadyEloise1 · 07/12/2022 09:36

Can someone explain why fertility declined in the US and yet Canada doesn't seem to have a problem ?

Because all the handmaids keep escaping over the border, taking their fertile wombs with them? Grin
