heads up. Starts Sunday

New drama starting for 4 nights 8 episodes of 30m so 2 a night

drama series - an adaptation of the Danish drama Forhøret - stars Nesbitt as long-serving detective Danny Frater, who receives a major shock after conducting what he assumes is a routine ID check on a dead body. It turns out the body is that of his estranged daughter Christina (Imogen King).

To make the situation worse the doctor carrying out the post-mortem tells him his daughter's death was caused by suicide.

But Frater doesn't believe the post-mortem and sets out to uncover the truth about what really happened to her.

Joining James Nesbitt in Suspect are a host of big names, including Richard E. Grant, Anne-Marie Duff, Joely Richardson, Ben Miller and Niamh Algar. Nesbitt has spoken highly of his co-stars on the show, hailing the “amazing” strength of the cast..

Suspect sees Frater working through a list of potential suspects episode by episode - with one of those suspects being Christina’s mentor, Harry, played by Grant. Gradually, Frater pieces together a clearer picture of his daughter’s tragic decline.

Anyone watch 5&6 last night

still haven’t seen mum so guessing she will be in tonight’s last 2

can’t believe he shot the horse 🥲

did she kill herself

im a little confused with the storyline. She basically wanted to get out of her lifestyle and Richard E grant brought her out. Ryan. Had a part in the dealings as well

is that right

looking forward to how tonight ends

Ohhhh. There's a LOT of drama school truth and grit going on. And close ups of concerned faces. And very long pauses. I'm flogging on to the bitter end though, I've started so I'll finish but not expecting much of a reward for my effort.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/06/2022 09:51

@newnamethanks me too.

I've just watched last night's [too hot outside] .

Why do two other men say they wanted to be Christina's father ? None of it rings true but they want to keep us guessing about what really happened.

It's so overacted and outrageous that it was making me laugh but I still want to see how it ends.

blibblibs · 22/06/2022 17:59

I was only watching it for Sam Heughan, I'm not sure I'll bother with the last two!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/06/2022 21:29

One left. Will it reveal all

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/06/2022 22:12

Still not sure who killed her. Possibly ryan

bug was killed as knew joely was dodgy alongside Richard E grant and covering up murders of teenagers /drug deaths

During her autopsys

Binge watched it and glad i stayed the course.

Richard E is always watchable.

@PurpleWisteria did you understand the ending

I thought it was Jackie because Christina was going to say she knew the post mortem she'd performed on the girl that died had been falsified and stated the wrong cause of death. She was going to split on her.

Thats what I took from it .

butterpuffed · 23/06/2022 13:21

Should have added....because Ryan had the girl killed and Jackie is/was having a fling with him .

Could be wrong though, it wasn't very clear.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/06/2022 14:57

So the police autopsy lady

was that Jackie

Yes

Timeforachange67 · 24/06/2022 17:44

Most unrealistic bit for me, it was meant to take place on one day and in the final episode Christina was being “cremated as we speak” in what universe is anyone cremated that quickly?

Was the ending when Christina said it wasn’t over meant to mean there’s a 2nd series in the offing?

newnamethanks · 24/06/2022 19:37

No, please no Series 2.

Timeforachange67 · 24/06/2022 21:00

@newnamethanks 😂😂😂don’t think I’d bother either!

butterpuffed · 25/06/2022 08:48

I couldn't handle another series 😆

sodabreadjam · 25/06/2022 09:00

So many good, well-known actors but terrible, unbelievable story line and so much ham acting, especially from James Nesbitt.

I read that he has alopecia in his eyebrows and therefore pencils them in. It looks like a child has done it, though - and I don't understand the need to add eyeliner.

purpleme12 · 25/06/2022 17:26

The 4th episode put me off when he killed the man with the plastic bag
Not sure whether I should watch any more

newnamethanks · 26/06/2022 08:01

This had a good cast. How could it possibly have been so awful? Directing? Editing? Whatever it was, any thoughts of S2 should be put aside immediately, let it be as dead as the ending.

He didn’t kill him

Well it put me off anyway!

Hels20 · 06/08/2022 18:41

I only stumbled across this because I was having Jamie Fraser withdrawal symptoms and googled what else Sam Heughan has been in.

I didn’t completely understand the ending.

and how on earth has James Nesbitt become such an elevated actor that he is in EVERYTHING? I’ve never rated him and thought bloodlands was awful because of him (although thought he was decent in The Missing).

What a great cast. What a terrible waste of it. And was Sam H meant to have a cockney accent?

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/08/2022 22:02

@Hels20 I think I said the same. Had to Google the ending plus asked on here for it to be explained
