Can't wait Oh I know I'm very very sad.

OP posts:
MarsselectionboxLady · 05/12/2004 20:23

So glad that I saw this thread. I missed it last week and was gutted for days.

yingers74 · 05/12/2004 22:00

OMG, it was fab, i was crying so much (tears of joy at the end) would have liked to see a wedding though - like a good wedding! and would have loved to see what mrs thornton would have thought!

oh what will i do next week on a sunday night, boo hoo!

Roisin · 05/12/2004 22:01

Well I cried for about the last 40 minutes! It was fab!

Dh said "It's not Hardy you know, it will have a happy ending!"

yingers74 · 05/12/2004 22:02

yes you could feel the happy ending coming, all i can say is that pauline quike was lucky not to have been killed off, talk about a high body count

yuleicorn · 05/12/2004 22:05

Totally loved it too.. although I reckon he is sexier when he is broody/smouldering as opposed to smiling!!!!

Do you think that 15,000 pounds clinched it for him ?? (cynical... moi??!! Grin)

How come Margaret manage to 'catch' every single man who spoke to her?. She wasn't that extraordinary.

Roisin · 05/12/2004 22:11

It's hard to judge, as he was only smiling for the last 2 minutes of the 4 hours of the programme! (Personally I thought he was very sexy smiling too!)

Roisin · 05/12/2004 22:12

I want to watch it again NOW. This time without a bloke sitting laughing at me sobbing my heart out Sad

yingers74 · 05/12/2004 22:13

i think it was because she was good looking but also smart and sensible, I mean I would rather have her then thorton's sister, Fanny!!!
No, he wanted her because he always loved her and could now respect her again after he realised she had not been up to no good! I just really wanted to know what his mum would have said, i guess will have to read the book! Although will have to wait till i finish my reading group book!!! Only have four nights left to finish it!

yingers74 · 05/12/2004 22:13

in regards to his smiling, i just noticed he had his shirt slightly open!!!!!!!!!!!!

yuleicorn · 05/12/2004 22:14

I think it's the sexual tension that goes along with the smouldering..ie the build up being far more exciting than the finale iykwim!!

yingers74 · 05/12/2004 22:16

agreed and i also want to watch it again, oh if only i had recorded it! when is the dvd out? oh bbc cut me a break and repeat it on ukgold now!

JaNgLyBELLS · 05/12/2004 22:17

I wanted a wedding! But it was lovely! More, BBC, more!

yingers74 · 05/12/2004 22:19

lets start a petition for another episode where we see the wedding! COME ON BBC I NEED ONE LAST FIX! yes i am a sad romantic, help me!

yuleicorn · 05/12/2004 22:19

Roisin,you've read it haven't you?

How was the Mother/son relationship portrayed in the novel as it seemed a little too close..

Infact how true was it to the novel do you think?

Roisin · 05/12/2004 22:22

Nope, wrong person, I haven't read it yet. I want to though!

Sorry to disappoint you, but I didn't want a wedding. I'm not actually that keen on 'happily ever afters' - prefer Hardy usually - I like to wallow in the sorrow and suffering!

Roisin · 05/12/2004 22:23

I want the DVD!

Hands up who else has been off searching the BBC Shop (in vain) for any details of the DVD release!

yingers74 · 05/12/2004 22:25

me! with that am off to dream about what happened next! I have to say I do like a happy ending, hence why l love austen!

yuleicorn · 05/12/2004 22:28

The beeb are idiotic if they haven't got this sorted for dvd's for Xmas..but somehow I don't think they thought it would take off so much.. but tbqh I reckon y'man is actually SEXIER than Colin Firth!!

The gauntlet is thrown down!!!

Roisin · 05/12/2004 22:35

I know! You would have thought they could be getting something into action, with some pre-ordering available. There's no mention on any websites of a DVD being produced. It's pathetic. I would buy it tomorrow if it was out. Love the music too, and that's not available either.

Roisin · 05/12/2004 22:36

It's had fantastic reviews from the start - which was a month ago - so they've had ample opportunity to get things moving.

JaNgLyBELLS · 05/12/2004 22:36

I've read it but can only remember it very vaguely. The books don't sink in as well as watching it on tv. I'm reading Cranford now though. Think its gonna be good! I read Mary Barton too but that was really heavy, and depressing!

TinselTamum · 05/12/2004 22:44

It was brilliant. Not sure it would have been quite the thing to be doing full-on snogging in public mind you :o

karen99 · 06/12/2004 09:52

Arrrgh, would you believe I managed to record the first three episodes on one tape (for my mum) and then last nights went on a different tape as I'd forgotten to change it (we were out)!!!!!!! ARRRRGGHHH.AngryAngryAngry

5goldendillydallys · 06/12/2004 11:19

I am ashamed to say I was openly crying when her dad died and then she imagined her dead parents at her old house.
Mr Thornton was looking mightily fine all episode long and I especially liked the Look back, look back bit.
The snogging at the end was a bit unrealistic though. And Henry had an excellent snubbed face.
I'd drap a blankie over his cold shoulders any day.

yingers74 · 06/12/2004 11:42

unicorn - u are looking for a fight aren't you? Tis a hard one, I love Colin but Mr Thornton is lovely too and he does broody just as well! I think the actor could do a pretty good mr darcy!

Roisin - the bbc are always a bit slow, it was the same with pride and prejudice, by the time they released it I had forgotten I wanted it and it took another 5 years for me to get round to buying it. Watch it all the time when now!!!!!!!

karen99 - how annoying but pity us who never even got round to putting the tape in the first place. I didn't realise it was going to be so good!

5gold - don't be ashamed, quite a few of us were also openly in tears!
