It's great isn't it? Fortunately dh likes it too. We are a 1-TV household, and I went into the lounge at 8.55 to find the snooker on ... eek But he turned it over with good grace, and enjoyed it!

MarsLady · 28/11/2004 22:20

missed it. not happy

yingers74 · 28/11/2004 22:24

yes very good although very misery filled, with so many people dying! I love the sound track though, really adds to the mood. Will be interested how they get together as they seem so far apart and are so good at misundertanding each other!!! Stirring stuff!

unicorn · 28/11/2004 22:25

yes I love that 'theme'.. as you always know that Thornton will be on screen very shortly!!!

Roisin · 28/11/2004 22:27

Yes, the music is really key and 'noticeable but not intrusive', isn't it? I love the cello solo theme - gorgeous!

yingers74 · 28/11/2004 22:28

what is it about a broody man?
underlying passion perhaps?

unicorn · 28/11/2004 22:32

absolutley..yingers!!..
too few men smoulder, or are broody in RL

I think the chemistry between Margaret and Thornton is working very well too.

tamum · 28/11/2004 22:35

It's great, isn't it? Edinburgh is pretty recognisable I think. The mill is St Stephen's Church in Stockbridge, but they only film the bottom part, and most of them seem to live in St Stephen's St. The hill they keep walking up (with the graveyard) is Calton Hill, but I think the views are sometimes from the Mound. It's really weird seeing modern places but cleverly filmed at an angle so you don't see it all. I actually get a bit distracted by place-spotting, but i thought today's episode was the best yet. I can't believe it's going to be over already (by next week) though

yingers74 · 29/11/2004 14:35

i know i wish it was longer, i wonder what other period dramas are coming up! the more broody men the better!

Clayhead · 29/11/2004 17:31

Drool.....

Mr Clay is banned whilst I'm watching this, he'd only take the piss out of my mooning over the smouldering one

JuniperDewdrop · 29/11/2004 18:22

Mmmmmm he was so yummy last night

Agree it was miserable though but next week should be good.

DillyDally, Middlesbrough used to be in Yorkshire unless I'm mistaken? I think his mother has a more typical yorkshire accent but his sounds Teesside to me. Any Teessiders out there?

I grew up very near Teeside, and don't think he sounds Teeside at all; definitely further south than that, but I wouldn't like to be specific as to where.

DillyDally · 01/12/2004 11:48

Perhaps Darlington?
I don't know but spent some time in Stockton and Durham and he sounds further south to me...but am definitely not complaining..he is lovely. I love men in all black...bring back Yule brynner (awful xmas spelling)

JuniperDewdrop · 01/12/2004 12:36

I live in Darlo and married to a Teessider but maybe I'm getting confused lol. I'll ask dh what he thinks next time I watch it (If I can drag him away from american footie!)

Anyway whatever he sounds like he rings my bell

I blame his voice coach and would demand that he spends an intense period of vocal training with me before taking any other parts

yuleicorn · 01/12/2004 12:40

drooltime

lets see if that works!

DillyDally · 01/12/2004 12:44

Mmmm worked nicely
Much obliged to you.
Hat firmly doffed

JuniperDropofbrandy · 01/12/2004 12:48

Yes you can coach him Dillydally and I'll be his dresser and help him into all those tight clothes

yuleicorn · 01/12/2004 12:52

well I will have to be the understudy
for Margaret then (who will have been unfortunately knobbled)
I will rehearse the snogging until it is just right - it make take some time!
