Wednesday BBC1 at 9pm for anyone interested. I really enjoyed the last series.

I'm late today, just watching.
Will read comments and slag Paul off at the end.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 30/03/2022 22:07

Michelle wore that navy jumpsuit with the satin sleeves last series.

lollipoprainbow · 30/03/2022 22:10

Don't think Molly should have gone.

Cocolapew · 30/03/2022 22:13

Do you think the shops carry on with the plants? The upkeep would be a pain and you'd have to change them when they weren't flowering.
Nothing was amazing this week but the bridal was the nicest.

PriamFarrl · 30/03/2022 22:20

I love what she wears. If I had her figure I’d dress the same.
LemonViolet · 30/03/2022 22:20

I guess if it’s not a very busy shop and the owner had an interest in houseplants it could work. They’d need a plant offstage area tho. I like colourful flowering houseplants in my living room but have another space for them upstairs “off show” for when they’re not flowering and swap them in for their big moments!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 30/03/2022 22:57

I agree, it wasn't a criticism of her outfit, my brain just remembers details like that.

I'd still prefer Sophie Robinson's wardrobe though. It's just so joyous and bright.

Mary Portas looked fantastic. I liked her red hair but she looks less stern now. She always dresses well. Bloody loved her denim jumpsuit. I would love to wear it, but I worry I'd wet myself in the time it took to get out of it when I needed the loo.

Wedding shop looked good but I prefer more colour.

Home shop was bit bland. Nice enough but nothing new.

Lingerie shop was hideous. The green paint was a horrible shade and where was all the actual stock. It looked empty but cluttered simultaneously.

Paul should've gone.

SoupDragon · 31/03/2022 07:41

I think the wedding shop was the easiest to do as there wasn't a whole lot of stock to style. Lingerie and multiple small pieces of homeward must have been a nightmare to style at the end.

I think both the wedding shop and the homeware shop were right to be muted in terms of colour. Perhaps the wedding shop could have done with something more but I think the homeware shop had lots of colour from the stock on display.

SoupDragon · 31/03/2022 07:44

I don't think Paul and Molly took into account the amount of time it would take to restock the shop.

LemonViolet · 31/03/2022 08:12

How could Paul not have taken into account how long stocking would take? Isn’t that what he does for a living?

Erm…..did he set Molly up to fail. And then only when he pulled it off get a fit of guilt.

florentina1 · 31/03/2022 08:46

What planet were they on.? Who has time to maintain those plants. They would be dried out and frazzled in the window, within a day. Did they give any thought to watering and keeping them fresh?. We’re they expected to take them out the back, water them, and put
damp plants back. The shop would be full of insects in no time.

Just what you need when buying clothes. That gave me the absolute rage at the idiocy of it.

Halsall · 31/03/2022 08:54

The quality of the paint job in the lingerie shop was shocking and the choice of shade was unfortunate - I like green and imho it could work but that was just the wrong green. But I’d still have kept Molly and got rid of Paul Hmm

Once again they suffer from not being given enough time, as in every single TV challenge show. Cf Bake-Off where cakes don’t have time to cool so the icing is a runny, sliding disaster.

The wedding shop posted on their Instagram saying how much they loved the design, so they’ve clearly kept it. There was a second wallpaper which they didn’t show - it’s on Amy's insta account (it has Salisbury cathedral spire on it).

HelloSpringIveMissedYou · 31/03/2022 09:28

Paul should have gone over Molly, think he set her up to fail and then pulled the 'guilty' trick.

I wouldn't trust him as far I could throw him!

SoupDragon · 31/03/2022 09:39

To be fair, Molly signed her own exit papers when she said it was all down to her (and fair play to her for doing that). Obviously we have no idea what else was said that didn't make the final cut - Paul could have taken his share of the blame and it was edited it out (unlikely for how they've spun his character for TV though!)

SoupDragon · 31/03/2022 09:40

It would be great to see the unedited footage.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 31/03/2022 10:58

I agree - the edit made it look very unfair. Molly took full responsibility for the design but the main criticism was the lack of merchandising, which is Paul’s day job. At least he had the grace to say what everyone was thinking.

fourquenelles · 31/03/2022 13:43

Mary Portas looked fantastic

I came on to say the same. She looks so much fresher and younger than in her red bob phase. It took me a while to recognise her.

Maireas · 31/03/2022 16:49

Mary Portas is great, she gives such sensible advice. I really enjoyed that programme where she helped improve shops.

This is a lovely blog written by the homeware shop owner.

SoupDragon · 31/03/2022 18:14

Their comments about the homeware shop being bland annoyed me - the owner said she didn't want bright colours and preferred neutral.

SoupDragon · 31/03/2022 18:18

Interesting article!

This was reassuring - I'd wondered if this was the case. the production company had undertaken to put everything back as it was if it really didn’t work

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 31/03/2022 18:35

I like Michelle but unless things are to her taste she writes it off.

There’s another interior show I forget the name of (Sophie Robinson judges on it) and they take into account how much the client loves it and whether they followed the brief.

Michelle seems a bit, “Ignore the brief because I like this…”

SoupDragon · 31/03/2022 18:57

How closely they followed the client's brief should be part of the judging process. Surely interior design isn't about forcing what you think is right onto a client.

SuitcaseOfWhine · 31/03/2022 21:12

I thought the best shop won, but wasn't that impressed with any of them.

Wedding shop could have done with a bit more colour. I didn't like the wallpaper again. I don't think wallpaper is her strength and her other ideas are much more superior and she is better at general interiors when it's not all about the wallpaper.

Underwear store didn't come together, but I liked the ideas.

I did think the homewares store looked very similar to what it was before, but the owner seemed very opposed to change.

What are they doing next week?

LadyEloise1 · 01/04/2022 00:09

I thought the big sectioned mirror in the bridal shop was wrong.
A bride wants to see the dress in full. Those black "bars" on the mirror sectioning it weren't good.
The lazy susan was a bit dodgy.
Otherwise it was lovely.
The lollipop trees outside one of the shops were in the small black plastic pots you get from the garden centre. They needed to be put in to proper pots. 🙄
The curtain in the back of the homewares shop wasn't hanging correctly. One of the loops was hanging down.
