Wednesday BBC1 at 9pm for anyone interested. I really enjoyed the last series.

Predictable end to that one.
Don't like it when they pair them up.

They should get a bigger budget and more time to finish properly.

SoupDragon · 23/03/2022 22:32

I’d like to see them now 2/3 of the way through a school year.

Especially Banjo's cardboard.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 23/03/2022 22:35

The plywood annoys me because yes, it's cheap, but it's rough and unfinished.
It would snag clothes and look rubbish quite quickly.

SuitcaseOfWhine · 23/03/2022 22:47

I think they put the two girls together so they could eliminate them.

Not sure about this week. I didn't rate the bears room that much - it was a bit young and I didn't like the wallpaper, it was retro and not in a good way, but it probably did fit the brief. Those benches looked really uncomfortable. I quite liked the zoning in the fox room but the paper and card furniture and screens was impractical.

The crocs room missed a lot of potential, and I think it did look a bit young and lacked identity. The office was the best though.

I'm surprised they missed the identity of the house so much. All you needed was a wall with a spray painted silhouette motif in different tones of the house colours repeated. That's what I would have done. Would have been cheap to do and quick.

I'm wondering if Amy was tasked with decorating a downstairs loo she would design a turd emoji wallpaper....

It's frustrating that the budget is so low and there is so little time. In real-life you would not get two days to do a room that size.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 27/03/2022 09:51

Just caught up on this week’s. I really hope the production team went back to make good on some of that awful stuff. It will look terrible by now and I would love to know how many year 7s have found themselves inside Dean and Amy’s stadium seating.

Maireas · 27/03/2022 09:58

I think most of that furniture wouldn't stay, it doesn't meet safety standards. They'll have the regulation plastic chairs and tables back by now.

bonfireheart · 27/03/2022 10:23

I think they should have less designers and the tasks take longer. They do have potential but the format of the show does them little service.

Cocolapew · 27/03/2022 21:58

I've only caught up with the last 2 episodes, the hotel rooms are always shit, every series. Its like they've never been in one before.
Remember the gothic one from a previous series with all the swags and material? The wisteria one was a dust/fire trap like that was.
The school designs were just baffling Grin I am impressed with being able to design your own wallpaper though.

BasiliskStare · 28/03/2022 19:30

Can anyone tell me how to catch up on the hotel one

If I may join in I thought they were given a difficult brief between 13 and 16 - difficult to please both but I thought those cardboard folds seats had "replace by half term" written all over them

BasiliskStare · 28/03/2022 19:33

Thank you @ZoyaTheDestroyer

Cattenberg · 28/03/2022 23:49

It seems a bit unfair to eliminate contestants because they slightly ran out of time or the decorating finish wasn’t great. Interior designers aren’t normally expected to design, source materials and help decorate a room in two days, are they? Maybe they’re looking for an all-rounder - an interior designer/handyman.

longwayoff · 29/03/2022 07:23

I caught C4's version of this on Sunday, The Great Tiny House Challenge, in which people compete to construct dolls House sized pieces of furniture and decorate a room in a dolls House, in the style of a particular time. Sadly, it's a competition so nobody has time to construct something worthwhile in the given time. It should offer a look, for the ham-fisted majority like me, at the creativity and patience of those who do this but fails to do that and, like it's grown up neighbour, has unachievable time limits resulting in bodging. It was really annoying and they can keep it.

Couldn't agree more *@longwayoff* In the lockdowns I bought and made a Georgian dollshouse and have been furnishing it from expert miniaturists (I have fat thumbs and poor eyesight!). The work that goes into producing sublime pieces of furniture, food and objects is amazing. I was so disappointed with thee first episode of this. I will stick with it for the next one but it not what I was hoping.
longwayoff · 29/03/2022 15:00

Oh how lovelyfourquenelles, I hope you enjoy every minute of your dollshouse and the joy of furnishing it. I'm losing my grip - ha! No surprise to many - in my right hand so can barely do anything useful with it. I was looking forward to this programme and feel quite miffed with the disappointment. Love a world in miniature, always fascinating. Hopefully it will improve.

LemonViolet · 29/03/2022 19:40

Despite finding this series hugely frustrating, I am looking forward to each episode. I got really confused this evening and thought it was tomorrow and am now disappointed I have to wait another day for this weeks instalment!

Is it shops tomorrow?

covetingthepreciousthings · 29/03/2022 22:07

Yes shops tomorrow with Mary Portas!

SoupDragon · 30/03/2022 07:39

Does anyone know how much time they get to plan their next project?

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/03/2022 17:50

Questions like these are why I wish there were contestant blogs for this series, used to answer questions like this and more details about the budgets. I don't think it was v long from what I remember from previous blogs as the timescales were v tight from budget of trying to source all the materials etc.
LemonViolet · 30/03/2022 21:01

anyone here this week?

SoupDragon · 30/03/2022 21:02

Me!

Cocolapew · 30/03/2022 21:03

I'm here too Smile

Cocolapew · 30/03/2022 21:04

I had a skirt and jacket in the same material as Alans jacket, in the early '90s. I wore it to my brother's wedding.

jay55 · 30/03/2022 21:05

Evening. I hate the thought of any of this lot loose in an underwear shop.

LemonViolet · 30/03/2022 21:06

Oooh god no don’t put Paul in a lingerie shop!

Alan is channelling Cher from clueless with that jacket (that’s a compliment)
