Has anyone else seen the trailers for this? I don't know whether I can bear to watch it or not. It looks sooooo wierd!!!!

They sell these down Tynemouth market on a sunday and I cannot bear to look. Its a husband and wife and people come over to nurse them, grown women actually passing them to each other supporting the head. The husband holds one and bobs it up and down the way you do when your trying to settle a baby sometimes.

OMG just looked up, I was just about to type, the last time I was there, there was a woman with a really expensive silver cross pram in white and silver, for the doll!!! It must have cost a few giros I can tell you, it was the most tastless bit of equipment I had ever seen. I thought that was her for a second, but we are in newcastle.

dirtygertiefromnumber30 · 02/01/2008 22:15

i missed what that lady said about having her own children. Did she say they couldnt have their own?

auntyspan · 02/01/2008 22:15

Nice earings on the baby sorry, doll.

whoops · 02/01/2008 22:15

MIlk too for the sleeping baby

Scramble · 02/01/2008 22:15

I suppose I could understand a woman who was traumatised by miscarrage or not being able to concieve, but not just because you just don't want a real one because of the noise or dirty nappies. The one that was just on seems to use them as fashion accesories urgh.

Bluestocking · 02/01/2008 22:15

OMG, fabric conditioner in a Dior baby bottle. I'm speechless.

thegrowlygus · 02/01/2008 22:16

Fake formula?
You mean to tell me she isn't breast feeding? She would be hounded off here I tell you. Next thing she'll be feeding it fruit shoots and grapes in the supermarket...

SpacecadetOnADiet · 02/01/2008 22:16

fake formula???

oh dear this is just weeeeiirrddd

PillockOfTheCommunity · 02/01/2008 22:16

she said they haven't had their own because they are too busy having fun

BabiesEverywhere · 02/01/2008 22:16

She said that they were having too much fun and nice holidays and anyway she didn't want a noisy child

auntyspan · 02/01/2008 22:16

dirtygertie they didn't have kids cos they were having too much of a good time.

Cos your life is shit when you have kids

JustMissyNow · 02/01/2008 22:16

she even had fake formula in a dior bottle ffs

sazzybeehomeforxmas · 02/01/2008 22:16

No she said that they were enjoying their lifestyle and don't want it messed up by real children plus you never know if you're going to get a nice one so it's much easier to be a pretend parent.

Get a dog or something!

dirtygertiefromnumber30 · 02/01/2008 22:17

lol at the ads they are showing - dora doll and aptimal!

lazarou · 02/01/2008 22:17

That's me done, can't watch anymore. That lady just likes the idea of babies but ive a feeling it's going to get very sad and i won't be able to sleep.

auntyspan · 02/01/2008 22:17

This programme HAS to be a wind-up.

Maybe our reactions are being filmed or something

thegrowlygus · 02/01/2008 22:18

But they HAVE a dog! In some ways it is probably best that they don't have children.

I am more worried by the lady they showed at the beginning who seemed to be missing/mourning her son/grandson. It can't be good for grieving, can it?

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 02/01/2008 22:18

no. she didnt say they couldnt have dcs.... which would have been sad, obviously..... she said "i couldnt make that commitment... all that noise and mess" (i paraphrase).... which is a perfectly valid view.... but then wtf spen your time and money pretending to have a baby???????? mad as snakes.

dirtygertiefromnumber30 · 02/01/2008 22:18

that MUST be a front she's putting on. She's desperate for children surely?

divamummy2 · 02/01/2008 22:18

i know girl who makes them, she is got 2of her own,and she always tells she loves to do babies as its like giving life to baby blah blah something. i only think, its weirdest thing

auntyspan · 02/01/2008 22:19

No you're right growlygus. It's not healthy, especially when the baby arrives in a jiffy bag or something.

thegrowlygus · 02/01/2008 22:19

Sorry - that comes out as a bit rude to them - I meant that they seem to have assessed that they wouldn't be great parents to real children because they want a perfect child, so having a doll is better for them. So they have thought about their situation.

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 02/01/2008 22:20

this bit is just heartrending. poor poor woman.
