Inventing Anna - Netflix

I've been obsessed with this case since listening to The Fake Heiress on BBC sounds. Is anyone else watching?! I love the casting of Anna.

Episode 1 down, going to binge over the weekend, I think. The journalist woman looked so familiar...she's Vada from from My Girl!

I remember reading the big article about Anna a while back. It all seemed so bizarre, like the tinder swindler in a way.

I watched the first episode but not sure if I'll continue. Usually I give a series 2 episodes before deciding if it's for me so I guess I'll do that in this case too. Found it a bit slow and the journalist lady is very annoying.

Nice to see Vada all grown up. Not sure about the rest of it though, Anna is insufferable and nobody can pronounce Ibiza properly.

I've just finished epi 2 and enjoying it though I enjoyed the series on BBC sounds more.

Anna is insufferable but I think that's the thing - she seems to be a sociopath/psychopath and a narcissist. I don't think she cared if she was liked as long as she got what she wanted. She is obviously incredibly bright and charismatic. I didn't think it was starting till the end of the month so I was happy I got that wrong as I'd have had to renew my Netflix sub.

The real one is Russian-German, I believe. I think the accent is further skewed with American though.

I'm only on e2 but I think because I know the whole story already I'm engaged as I'm excited to see it all play out. I'm sort of in awe of her ballsy-ness. Obviously scammers/conmen are awful people but it's also nice to see women breaking into a previously male dominated career...

Just finished episode 3, interesting the boyfriend was pretty similar. Using money investors gave for his app to live a life he hadn't yet earned, and reinventing himself. Pair of grifters.

So I've watched 2 episodes, which is the point at which I usually decide whether to proceed or not.

I'm still finding it a bit slow and the story and characters just aren't that compelling. Plus, with 9 episodes of an hour each it seems like quite a big 'investment'.

So disappointing. Massively elongated and only picks up in the final three. Good performances all round (apart from the insufferable Cox) but ultimately a let down. The podcast was so much better.

I'm finding this fascinating! But very long! I'm loving spot the actor! What I find fascinating about anna is she plays on the Americans greed I don't think she would have got so far if she did this in another country. I've found all three shows puppet master, tinder Swinder and this very interesting

Really enjoying this! I have also read the various articles about Anna Delvey but it is interesting to get the full detailed story. I would be binge watching if I didn’t have children to look after!

I read the original article about her when it was published and I think it had that sense of confusion that the journalist didn't really understand Anna or what had happened.

I'm a bit bored with the series already and I'm only on episode two. I keep pausing to Google if the people are real or the events actually happened and so far most of the subplots and all the best side characters, were invented for the series.

It feels like a bit of a swindle to make a programme about a real con and then just make up the storyline. It loses its impact. If it's mainly fantasy except for the charges, then what's the point? Hmm
