Don't think anyone else has started a thread.
I didn't realise it was starting again but its on tonight BBC 2.
I'm watching on catch up now. Anyone else?

@JamMakingWannaBe

I've got a pond and there's no way I'd be dipping my feet in it!

I really can't imagine anyone's first comment on seeing the garden was "oh, you've got a floating deck! Lovely!" It's just not worth the money and a potential rat hotel I thought.

Part of the deck was some old doors from Tom's house and the shed was £250 from Gumtree? With a £25k budget I'd want more than that! You could tell the first architect was thinking, "how does this design fit the budget?" - especially in relation to the climbers on the shed. By ditching the massive boulders, that's how!

I loved the writing room in the first pitch.

In relation to the bicycle shed garden, did they seriously have no back access at all?

The roof was lined but there didn't seem to be any drainage at all, and I would have thought after heavy rain it would just be a pond. I didn't like the lolly pop planters at the front door. They were unnecessary, and what happened to their lovely roses?

I think the bike shed roof was slightly sloped backwards.

The budgets on this show are baffling me. Charlie Dimmock and the Rich brothers do a better job for a fraction of the price on Garden Rescue.

tanstaafl · 08/03/2022 11:24

@dollymuchymuchness
In Garden Rescue all the labour and machine hire is free.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2022 21:01

Anyone tuning in tonight? I accidentally missed Gardeners' World!

jay55 · 11/03/2022 21:02

I missed last weeks but back tonight.

They have huge budgets on the main design.
GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2022 21:14

Why would you suggest more trees in that small space (1st designer)? Trees take maintenance which people generally don't do properly! And if they're not shading your plot they're going to be shading your neighbours in plots that close together.
The red robin (photinia) pleached trees should be sufficient imo. Red robin generally gets going in a year or two then you're preoccupied pruning it 😁

The 2nd designer is all about moving the garden buildings isn't he 😂

jay55 · 11/03/2022 21:16

At least they've some lawn left.

Maireas · 11/03/2022 21:21

What will they do with upholstered garden furniture in the bad weather? They've nowhere to store it.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2022 21:23

Not a fan of the tree on the left hand side. That shallow pond's going to evaporate and be full of leaves which sink to the bottom, speaking as someone who has a small pond (set in the ground) and lives with neighbour's tree leaves!

I liked the new location of the office pod.

Maireas · 11/03/2022 21:26

Why two sets of tables and chairs?

jay55 · 11/03/2022 21:28

Ahh yes switch out chairs for a numb bum on a plank.

This second one looks very high maintenance whatever he says about low maintenance

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2022 21:30

I don't like either of these designer's designs - I didn't like them in earlier programmes either 😂

The proportions of the strip of lawn in the second design doesn't feel right. I understand what he's going for but the planting looks kind of overgrown and it's going to look even messier in reality. Nightmare to manage in a plot that size.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2022 21:31

'Numb bum plank' 😁

jay55 · 11/03/2022 21:41

Need sunglasses in the small project.

Love the plants on the wall, hate the paint.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2022 21:42

That doesn't look like very much for £3k - a lick of paint and some drainpipe planting! Maybe I'm missing something.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/03/2022 21:43

Oh good grief why did they go for that design!

jay55 · 11/03/2022 22:00

I wonder if they neighbours are still wonderful. Living next to that giant trellis and fires every night might just test their patience.

Kizty · 11/03/2022 22:25

I don’t think it looks awful but I would have preferred the other design. Agree the fire pits are not great for neighbours. Lots of people with asthma can’t go outside if their neighbours have a fire pit going.

Poorlyplants · 11/03/2022 22:25

The problem with this programme is the VR looks so much better than the reality of every garden they do, so the reveal is always a disappointment as the plants are not mature.

Kizty · 11/03/2022 22:31

Yes that’s true. I wonder if the people who own the gardens are disappointed or if they like the results.

SwedishEdith · 12/03/2022 11:14

I'm losing interest in this programme now as it is just too long. I hate the filler bits in between. Just show the options, pick one, do it.

Butteredtoast55 · 12/03/2022 11:30

I actually dislike this sort of programme and rarely like the end result. The designs are often so impractical and far from 'perfect'. But I'm becoming an old curmudgeon who looks at lots of the property programmes and harrumphs! [Grin]

braggingaboutbrasize · 12/03/2022 18:07

I actually liked Steve's design, but I like a lots of trees/bit wild type garden.

Also, there is something about Ollie (is that the right name?) that gets up my nose. I know that's unfair but he just does.

Kizty · 12/03/2022 19:13

Do you think Ollie maybe just isn’t a tv personality and is a bit shy. He struggles with Angela’s banter I think
