Don't think anyone else has started a thread.
I didn't realise it was starting again but its on tonight BBC 2.
I'm watching on catch up now. Anyone else?

It was the worse one I've ever seen I think
Both those designers are weak

Kizty · 06/02/2022 17:39

I think part of the problem was that the garden really looked pretty nice the way it was before.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/02/2022 17:54

I thought it was shockingly bad. I preferred the other design.

The apple tree was conveniently rotten inside Hmm

ExtremelyDelighted · 06/02/2022 18:07

I only realised it was on halfway through, when the decision about design was being made, didn't much like the one that was chosen but I don't like gardens all lit up at night either. The caravan one was lovely though, done with such care.

I remember watching some of the last series with my jaw on the floor, that disused swimming pool one in particular. And yes to the small ones often being nicer.

Kizty · 06/02/2022 18:17

Yes the disused swimming pool one was shocking. I remember them saying it would have taken all their budget just to fill it and I thought that would have been a better use of the budget really. The wildlife garden on was also shocking complete with a man made stream which pumped the water round

ExtremelyDelighted · 06/02/2022 18:32

Yes, it looked like a crazy golf course did that one.

Kizty · 06/02/2022 18:43

Or a gorilla enclosure

MichaelAndEagle · 06/02/2022 19:20

I think they pay for labour costs when usually in garden programmes they leave that out.
But yes, far too much money.
I usually prefer the outcome in the programmes like garden rescue.
Just pretty, normal gardens.

Just watched this and was so baffled by the design and cost of that garden.

The end result was 80% hard landscaping with a wide straight passage from one end to the other with partitions down the side Confused It really did look like the outside of some type of commercial premises not a family garden.

Treelines · 06/02/2022 20:33

I don’t tend to like Manoj or Pip’s designs. They seem like the Changing Rooms of garden design. So gimmicky. The other lady - is it Helen? - her designs are always fab. Much more imaginative use of the spaces, more plants. These two designs both seemed to plonk bits around the edges of the gardens. The swing seat especially seemed out of place.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/02/2022 08:16

@LadyAddle

I wouldn't have chosen Pips's design - I thought the way outdoor lighting was used in the other was lovely. Does anyone know what those huge white globular flowers were, in the professional yoga/hippy garden they visited? sort of hydrangea? I'll have to watch again and freeze the screen!
Dh said they were hydrangea,I asked the same, lovely weren't they?
tanstaafl · 07/02/2022 15:39

My main thought on the finished design, both of them actually, was where are the bins!
And 4 bins? We have 3; blue -recycle, green -garden and black everything else. What’s the 4th one for?

SardineJam · 07/02/2022 16:59

I think with the swimming pool one from last season that the costs spiralled for some reason and they had to cut corners massively and did a lot of work themselves but it was obvious 😐

Kizty · 07/02/2022 17:31

It’s ashame they didn’t just fill it and put a nice lawn in with a few shrubs. But I guess they couldnt charge a landscaper design cost for that. Plus it would t have made interesting viewing

tanstaafl · 07/02/2022 21:15

The swimming pool one - they were a lovely couple.
I think they did work themselves and changed some of the materials in the design for cheaper alternatives because they said their budget was all their savings.
It was probably the only episode so far that wasn’t
Angela :“your budget was £30k, how much did you spend in the end?”
Couple : “£45k , but….”

LadyAddle · 07/02/2022 22:41

On a totally unrelated subject, does anyone else find Angela's dress sense a bit odd? She seemed to be draped in lettuce at one point.

Carriemac · 08/02/2022 08:14

She's quirky - and for some reason was wearing my granny's housecoat this week Smile

LadyEloise1 · 08/02/2022 08:46

I loved that green floaty dress. I wonder where it's from ?

Carriemac · 08/02/2022 10:00

If you follow her on Instagram she says where she got her clothes for the show

LadyEloise1 · 08/02/2022 10:33

The blue one with the white collar is Rixo but she doesn't say where the green is from.
Perhaps Preen ?

Winniewonka · 08/02/2022 17:02

@tanstaafl - I think they said the bins were now at the front of the house. We also have four bins, the fourth one is for paper. Our general rubbish bin is only emptied every three weeks!

Anyway, back to the designs. I really didn't like it. Still baffled where 32K was spent. I thought they could have done something with the outbuildings but they were barely mentioned. Even with a mat, who would want to do yoga on crushed shells. The design on the back of the garage was hideous.

Kizty · 08/02/2022 18:36

I think they feel they need to show they are doing something different and innovative in the designs. So the programme presenter has something to discuss.

AmberLynn1536 · 08/02/2022 21:33

It looked like a child’s nursery playground, the garden before was lovely with the apple tree, it was quite charming with the pretty outbuilding which they could have made more of a feature of, I really don’t understand why they hated such a pretty garden, it only needed tweaks, replace meandering path and a new patio and some lovely plants would have looked lovely, what a waste of 32k!

Kizty · 09/02/2022 09:16

Yes the building at the end of the garden looked quite nice. Just needed a few hanging baskets. I do hope she is happy with it now though and getting her yoga buisness up and running. She seemed quite happy with the end result I think.

LovelyYellowLabrador · 11/02/2022 09:05

Went from a lovely English garden with charm to a cheap pre-school yard !!
Don’t know how I’m Earth that cost that much

Also that apple tree looked so beautiful with all the blossom
Didn’t look like it was rotten on the inside at all 🧐🧐agree Helen would have made it amazing

Could added some twinkly lights to the tree some nice patio/patios on an angle to set up three table n chairs lovely
And filled it with amazing plants
But no
